À propos de l'entreprise
Écrit par l'entreprise
Born in a car park in the heart of the West End, we replaced cars, bikes and vans with nightly resident DJs, neon lights and dancers. We reset the fitness industry. It was easy to say, there was no other fitness space like this. Exercise blended perfectly with pleasure. You could be anyone you wanted to be. Be any shape you happened to be. It was just pure freedom to play and train in a way never seen before. It was simply just, serious fun. Fast forward to now and we're home to the most unique and diverse classes in London. Olympic sized boxing rings, combat cages, world-class free weights sections, live DJs and larger-than-life personal trainers. Home to big hitters, heavy lifters, slick dancers, zen masters, first timers, seasoned sadists, movers + rule-breakers of every kind. #anythinggoes

Appalling customer service and misleading bookings
I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with my experience at Gymbox Ealing. I specifically chose this branch because it is convenient for my workplace, even though I had to travel from a different area to get there.
I booked two slots on their official website: a Free Gym Trial and a Free InBody Test & Consultation.
The issues started before I even arrived. I received a call from them while I was on my way to confirm my attendance. The staff member started asking intrusive questions about where I live, which made me feel highly uncomfortable. Out of nowhere, they then claimed I had to pay £25 for a day pass. I told them I had a confirmed free trial booking and suggested we speak when I arrived.
Due to a tube delay, I arrived 10 minutes late. I then had to wait at reception for another 15 minutes just to be seen. When they finally attended to me, they casually informed me that the trainer wasn't even there!
To make matters worse, the receptionist was incredibly rude and cheeky. She tried to shift the blame onto me, saying it was because I was late. This was a blatant lie to cover up their own system failure or their irresponsible trainer who simply failed to show up. It genuinely felt like they never intended to let me use the trial in the first place and were just looking for any excuse to brush me off and get rid of me.
The entire experience was absolutely humiliating. This was a massive waste of my time and energy. I will absolutely be warning all of my colleagues in the area to stay far away from Gymbox Ealing. I sincerely hope to find a much better, more professional gym in that area. Just waisted a day off. Avoid at all costs.
Okay-ish facilities, scammy customer service
Facilities are ok, though at random times they host classes on the gym floor and private coaches prevent you from using the equipment.
Customer service was very responsive until i signed the contract. After that i discovered all the malicious clauses ans terms that are made to ensure steady revenue for gym-box while minimum flexibility for customers and maximum penalties. The staff at the gum give conflicting advice to the website and the online agents.
Check your bank statements - membership increased 27% with no warning
Without any warning, Gymbox increased my monthly fee from £65 to £82.50 — a 27% jump. I never received any email about it. When I questioned it, they admitted the email they claimed to have sent me had bounced and never arrived.
Their own terms say fee increases must follow inflation (CPI), which was around 2-3% at the time. They have never been able to explain how 27% is in line with inflation. After weeks of back and forth through multiple staff members all the way to a team leader, not one person could point to a single rule in their own terms that justified the increase.
When I asked for a refund of the overcharges, their solution was to offer me my old rate back, but only if I signed a new 12-month contract. So their answer to an error on their part was to demand more commitment from me.
I’ve had to raise a formal bank dispute, report them to Trading Standards, and submit a legal data request just to get anywhere. They closed my complaint without resolving it.
If you’re thinking of joining, don’t. Be aware that your fee could go up significantly with no warning, and getting any answer out of their customer service team is an exercise in frustration. Check your bank statements every month.
Poor hygiene… absolutely stinks of…
Poor hygiene… absolutely stinks of stale male urine as you walk in past the men’s changing room. Never and shampoo/conditioner in the women’s changing room. Really expensive gym for fairly grim surroundings
This place is an absolute scam
This place is an absolute scam, they woo you with a free membership and discount and make it absolutely impossible to quit by ignoring your calls and emails and then charging you hidden fees. Don’t fall for the scam!
Terrible membership terms that trap you…
Terrible membership terms that trap you into a long term contract with no escape if your circumstances change. I had to relocate which meant I could no longer access the gym but customer service was rude and unhelpful and refused to terminate my contract without a huge exit fee (which worked out more than if I just let the contract run its course). A shame because the gym itself was actually quite nice. Never using this gym again.
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. Terrible company. Abysmal customer service. You can never speak to anyone. You’re promised call backs and get nothing. They admit they have internal issues with their direct debit system and they then refer me to debt collectors - it’s their issue! Awful awful awful
Rude and very dismissive Sales guru ‘Samaaira’
I booked a trial visit at Stratford Westfields gym Box as it states on the site that you can ‘book a trial visit or tour before becoming a member’
I was met by sales guru Samaaira , whose immediate approach with me appeared to be somewhat agitated or disgruntled.
Samaaira asked if I was here for trail day. I expressed that I was. Samaaira stated that she would provide a tour, only if I became a member first.
I expressed that I am interested in joining, but would need to see and use the facilities before signing up.
Samaaira expressed that Gym Box are being very strict and are now only doing trial days and tours if you sign up first. Samaaira then asked if I am a member of any other gyms. I expressed that I am a member of two gyms.
Samaaira then stated that I am not applicable to join as I would not be able to sign up to a third Gym.
I found this to be an odd, as I have never heard of this type of policy before. However I informed Samaaira about that I would cancel my other two memberships if I like this Gym as I would prefer to be a member of 1, with all the facilities I require in one place anyway.
Samira then again reiterated that Gym box are being extremely strict and are only allowing tours and trial dates to go ahead after you’ve signed up for a membership prior, and apologised stating that she could not help me any further.
I have not seen anything on the Gym box site confirming that this is accurate. Not only does this seem nonsensical, but Samaaira‘s delivery and approach was extremely dismissive and rude.
Ok Gym, Awful Membership Experience
The gym itself is visually impressive and the staff on site were generally polite, but the overall culture felt very “Love Island” — image-focused, influencer-heavy, and extremely sales-driven. Everything feels built around appearance, upselling, and locking people into contracts rather than creating a genuinely supportive environment.
My experience with the membership side of the business completely overshadowed anything positive about the gym itself.
After losing my job, I attempted to cancel under their redundancy/unemployment clause. I provided official legal settlement documentation from my former employer referencing statutory redundancy entitlement and termination of employment. Despite this, Gymbox refused to accept the documentation because it was not in the exact format they wanted, even though my former employer does not issue standalone redundancy letters.
This led to an exhausting and repetitive back-and-forth where I repeatedly had to explain and highlight the same sections of the document over and over again, only to eventually be told I would still need to pay a substantial early termination fee.
To be fair, Natalia from member services remained polite and professional throughout, and I appreciate that she was following company policy. My issue is not with individual staff members, but with a process that felt inflexible, unnecessarily stressful, and completely lacking in reasonable discretion during an already difficult situation.
I left feeling far more like a contract than a customer.
Extremely disappointed by my experience…
Extremely disappointed by my experience with Gymbox Ealing and Gymbox Membership Accounts.
I recently had to cancel my membership due to serious spinal and neck issues and am currently undergoing spinal surgery. Despite explaining my medical circumstances multiple times, Gymbox continued to pursue a final monthly payment, even though I had not been using the gym for months because of my condition.
What shocked me most was the complete lack of empathy, compassion, or reasonable discretion shown throughout the process. At no stage did anyone meaningfully try to understand the situation, discuss a fair resolution, or even request medical evidence before escalating matters.
Instead, whilst I was still awaiting responses regarding my complaint and cancellation dispute, I received an email threatening referral to a debt collection agency. At a time when I should have been focusing on my health and surgery, I was instead dealing with unnecessary stress and pressure over a gym membership I physically could not use.
I ultimately paid the £94 simply to stop the stress, but I did so completely under protest and do not believe the handling of this situation was fair or reasonable.
The issue here is not just the money, it is the way Gymbox chooses to treat customers facing genuine medical difficulties. Policies are one thing, but basic compassion and common sense should also exist.
Having since looked online, I can also see multiple similar complaints from other members relating to cancellations, rigid contract enforcement, and poor customer care.
Sadly, after this experience, I will never join Gymbox again and cannot recommend them based on how this situation was handled.
Very disappointing experience at Gymbox…
Very disappointing experience at Gymbox Finsbury Park.
I had a valid membership running from 12 May 2025 until 12 May 2026, and I even showed my confirmation email at reception. Despite this, I was refused entry and told incorrectly that my membership ended on 1 May.
The receptionist was extremely rude, dismissive, and refused to provide their name or call a manager when requested. I felt unfairly and disrespectfully treated throughout the entire interaction. I also recorded the incident on video due to the seriousness of the situation.
As a loyal member for the past year, this level of customer service and professionalism is unacceptable. Very stressful and disappointing experience.
Shocking company.
Shocking company.
Treats members like fodder. Find another company with integrity and give this place a wide birth.
I would advise anyone to avoid this…
I would advise anyone to avoid this company and see elsewhere.
I had my locker padlock removed and contents stolen. My complaint was dismissed as no cameras exist in the changing rooms.
I was also pursued by ARC debt collectors for the locker cancellation even though I had no contract for the locker and followed their instructions for cancellation.
BEWARE, the membership and customer support team follow the Gym Box policy to follow blindly the company savagery and avoid customer legitimate complaints and issues. Better to use via Hussle or pay as you go but avoid signing any contract by all means.
Used to be great, now not worth it
Gymbox Westfield White City has really gone downhill since the new management. Front desk staff are often disinterested, unhelpful, and sometimes patronizing. Facilities are poor—dirty bathrooms, cold showers, no towels or body wash. Equipment is damaged, classes are overcrowded and unsafe at times, and prices keep rising without informing members. Management and customer service don’t respond to complaints.
Used to be a great gym, but now I wouldn’t recommend it—definitely not worth the price.
Disgustingly Poor
Disgustingly poor - I have had ongoing back and forth conversations with GymBox for nearly a year. Disjointed communications from staff. I required my membership to be cancelled due to employment changes back in May 2025 and had provided proof.
They do not care - membership ended in January. Now claiming monies is owed and will refer to debt agency. Whole heartedly dispute this and will use all of the correct avenues to prove communications and dispute this.
There is a reason that this gym is rated 2 stars. I've never seen so many bad reviews for a gym group. For a business that focuses on health and wellbeing - pretty poor at understanding the needs of their customers and their actual wellbeing.
Don't sign up to gymbox unless you want warts
I genuinely don’t know how Gymbox still markets itself as a “premium” gym when the experience is closer to a badly managed student union with barbells. Every peak-time visit feels like a cattle market: the place is overcrowded to the point that you’re queuing for dumbbells, fighting for floor space, and trying not to get hit by someone else’s bar because everything is so badly laid out. The constant promos seem designed to ram more people through the door without investing a penny in making the space usable or comfortable for the members already paying full price.
The facilities are a joke for the money they charge. Showers with no hot water, broken or “under repair” machines that stay that way for weeks, saunas out of action for months with zero urgency to fix them – yet they’re more than happy to take full membership fees as if everything is in perfect condition. You pay a premium price and get a half-delivered product, and they don’t even pretend to offer meaningful compensation or a proper apology when key facilities are unavailable.
Customer service manages to be both invisible and hostile at the same time. Staff on-site range from uninterested to outright rude, and when you actually need help, they suddenly become experts in passing you around, stonewalling, or blaming “policy” for everything. The second you raise an issue, it’s like you’ve inconvenienced them by daring to expect basic standards at London’s supposedly “cool” gym.
Where Gymbox really reveals its true colours is with contracts and cancellations. The small-print obsession is unreal: inflexible long contracts, one‑month notice that only runs from the 1st, and a maze of app-based steps and forms just to stop them taking your money. People find themselves chased for months of fees for services they’re not using, threatened with debt collectors over disputed amounts, and told they should have “got it in writing” when staff give wrong information verbally. It feels less like a membership and more like a trap you only realise you’re in once it’s too late.
To top it off, the whole hypey, neon-lit “brand” falls apart the moment you look past the marketing. Classes are impossible to book unless you’re on the app at ridiculous o’clock, and the reality on the gym floor is far from the glossy image they push on social media. If they spent half as much effort on maintenance, member care, and fair policies as they do on pretending to be edgy and premium, they might have a decent product. As it stands, Gymbox is the perfect place if you want to overpay for stress, queues, broken kit and a customer service team that treats you like the problem for daring to complain.
Gym refused cancellation despite unemployment
Gym refused cancellation despite loss of employment due to financial pressures outside my control. They relied on a definition of redundancy not clearly stated in the contract and did not offer any flexibility despite a formal complaint. Disappointing handling.
Gymbox really just told me to cancel my…
Gymbox really just told me to cancel my membership due to me disputing the 11.11% !!! increase in membership fees without good reason or any sort of explanation. Customer service here is an absolute joke! I even said how I value my membership, and they’re basically like lol we don’t care, you can cancel cause they can’t be bothered to look into my query. Ridiculous!
Dont go
They keep increasing the membership price and the gym is getting worse. The instructors that host the classes are now angry, shouty and awful. Facilities are unclean. It went from being a lovely gym years ago to a terrible gym.
Avoid Gymbox.
Avoid Gymbox.
I have been overcharged for months due to their own error after they failed to correctly transfer my membership details and discount. Despite raising this multiple times, it has still not been properly addressed or explained.
Instead of resolving the issue, customer service has been rude, unprofessional, and dismissive, relying on generic responses about terms and conditions while completely ignoring the actual problem.
I have made repeated requests for help, asked for complaints to be raised, and left my contact details several times, yet no one has followed up.
On top of that, the gym itself does not justify the price. Cleanliness is a real issue, with dirty changing areas and showers, and ongoing maintenance problems.
Overall, this has been a very poor experience involving overcharging, lack of accountability, and unacceptable customer service. I would strongly advise others to think twice before signing up.
