We chose Handler Protect to provide warranty coverage for our customers based on their promises of efficient claims handling. However, when one of our customers experienced a breakdown—despite full main dealer service history, a fresh MOT, and diagnostics—they declined the claim. We provided every document they requested, yet they shifted responsibility back to us within 30 days. This left both us and our customer unsupported. In our experience, their actions didn’t align with the promises made. We believe transparency is key, and unfortunately, we wouldn’t recommend them based on this experience.

Purchased a car in Feb which came with warranty from the dealer. Car went wrong within 6 weeks. Had RAC out who said it was probably the turbo actuator. Booked into garage as advised by Handler protect, got a quotation from garage which recommended replacing turbo with reconditioned turbo to resolve the issue. Sent all documentation to to Handler protect who came back with a quick email declining. The said that the turbo actuator isn't covered in the policy. My understanding is that the actuator is an integral part of the turbo and the turbo will not work without it functioning. Garage has quoted to replace turbo with a reconditioned one, not just replace actuator. In my view Handler protect have no intention of paying out any of these claims which is why on their email in red letters it states not to get the work carried out before a decision. This says it all I think.
I have appealed and am going to pursue this with the insurance ombudsman. They have advised wait for the appeal before submitting all documentation to them. I have had my car repaired as obviously it can't be off the road for months and lucking I didn't actually purchase this useless insurance policy otherwise I would be so angry. It did make me think about people who are less fortunate, without the funds to get their car repaired, possibly even having to make loan payments for it whilst off the road. What would they do! I think the way they are allowed to treat people is despicable so I will most definitely be pursuing it.

My experience working with Handler has been excellent from start to finish. The team has consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism, clear communication, and genuine care in how they handle everything. Every interaction has been smooth, efficient, and reassuring, which really sets them apart.
A special mention goes to Ciane Roe, who has truly elevated my experience. Her approach, attention to detail, and friendly professionalism have made the entire process even more positive and enjoyable. It’s clear she takes pride in delivering great service, and it does not go unnoticed.
Overall, I couldn’t be more pleased and would highly recommend Handler based on my experience.

Avoid Handler Protect like the plague. They offered me an extended warranty which I took out after a conversation with one of the advisers. A problem occurred and I raised the repair report with all the necessary information, including a mechanical report from the garage saying specifically that it wasn’t down to wear and tear. I had no reply from Handler Protect and after the maximum response time of 2 working days had passed I gave them a call because the garage needed to know if the work was going ahead (Handler Protect specifically state you don’t start the work until you get the go ahead or you will be declined). I was told to wait for an imminent email which came through almost instantly with a big decline notice. I rang Handler Protect for clarification and the very blunt response was “manufacturer defect” which they wouldn’t pay out for, (even though I specifically asked if this part was covered before taking out the warranty and being told it was). As soon as I very calmly stated that I think they are a scam, he refused to continue the call and said he won’t be taking abusive calls before putting the phone down. I’ve since sent an email wanting to cancel and get whatever money I can get back, but obviously have had no reply. Please avoid this company, if I could give less than 1 star I would.

I am writing this to warn anyone considering a car from a dealer using Händler Protect. This is not a real warranty; it is a "discretionary" service, which is essentially a legal loophole they use to reject every claim possible.
I experienced a major mechanical failure with my flywheel that left my car undriveable. Despite following their procedures to the letter, providing a full service history, and a diagnostic report from a VAT-registered garage, they rejected my claim.
When I appealed their decision, they simply doubled down on their excuses. They hide behind "wear and tear" or "pre-existing conditions" for parts that have clearly and suddenly failed. Their business model seems to be based on taking your money and then finding any semantic reason to avoid paying out when you actually need help.
They claim to provide "fair and equitable" resolutions, but my experience has been the exact opposite. They are obstructive, slow to respond, and completely unhelpful once you are off the road. They even expect you to pay for major diagnotic work with no guarantee that they will approve your claim, making a claim even more expensive.
If a dealer offers you this warranty, either ask for a discount on the car and buy your own reputable insurance-backed warranty elsewhere, or walk away. I am now taking my case to the Motor Ombudsman and the Small Claims Court.
Zero stars if I could. You have been warned.

we got a call back today to discuss our appeal. And we had a very helpful advisor talk with us about the decision and how he could help us with our appeal to get our car fixed. Cian Roe was very very helpful. Went through our entire situation with us and explained everything that he could and helped us understand what we could do with our car and getting it fixed. he was very patient and kind and his service was very enthusiastic and helped us so much. Big thank you to him.

When I needed to make a claim, it was approved within 48 hours—far quicker than I ever imagined. The whole process was smooth and stress-free, and it gave me real peace of mind.
Overall, Handler Protect has been reliable, fast, and easy to deal with. Definitely a great addition when buying a used car.
