Marriott Hotel Parking Nightmare - Bailiffs Now
Marriott Hotel, York near the racecourse.
Took elderly sister in for a coffee
Asked reception if parking outside was ok - they said yes,
Receiced a £100 parking fine notice (expensive coffee!!) Wrote a review.
Marriott emailed to say they would cancel.
They have not. Bailiffs letter arrived today.
Very aggressive communication throughout.
Impossible to speak sensibly to anyone at Marriotts or Parking Eye.
Please BE WARNED - this is an unpleasant and unfair and not clearly advertised system. Shocking really.
Hydrochem Group Hartlepool
Be very careful using there Spa equipment at every site. They use a company called Hydrochem who are meant to clean there Spa balance tanks and when they do they don’t clean them properly. I know because I used to work for them. They just drain the tank spay with cheap TR-16 instead of using chlorine and then they back fill with pool water instead of filling back with fresh water to save time and money. Honestly do not get in there’s Spa unless you want to get Legionnaires disease.
Complained to Marriott Bonvoy with no response
Complained to Marriott Bonvoy about being charged £700+ on my AMEX card as well as hotel taking points, and two weeks later, still waiting for a reply!
False advertising
False advertising. I've been looking at staying in Vienna for a few weeks now. The price for the marriot hotels has always been the same. Yesterday my app showed a promotion of 25% off when I went to book it said I had the 25% off rate yet it was the exact same price as it has been for the last weeks and is the same price as it is on other booking sites. I'm very surprised that Marriott would so blatantly try to con people. When I called one representative said there is a problem w the app, we got disconnected and when I called back I spoke to another representative who told me to book anyway and maybe the hotel would reimburse me on check out. Very disappointing
Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Price
I recently stayed at Delta Hotels and, unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected, especially considering the price paid.
We arrived just after 10 PM and encountered issues straight away. Our reservation was for a twin room suitable for two friends, but we were given a double bed instead. It took staff over 45 minutes to resolve the issue, during which they seemed disorganised and were visibly frustrated among themselves. It wasn’t until after 11 PM that we finally got into the corrected room.
The twin beds provided were extremely uncomfortable. As two 6-foot-tall men, our feet were hanging off the ends of the beds, and the beds themselves were unstable—if you rolled to one side, they tipped over. The room overall was very basic, with exposed wires coming out of the wall under the TV, which didn’t feel safe or welcoming.
The fridge worked but was clearly dated. While the shower room was relatively modern, the Wi-Fi was extremely poor. I was unable to use my iPad to stream anything due to the lack of bandwidth, which was frustrating.
Breakfast was average at best. Some items had clearly been sitting out too long, resulting in a mix of hot and cold items on the buffet. Evening meals were acceptable, but service was slow and inattentive. Bar staff were more interested in chatting amongst themselves than helping guests, which made the whole experience feel unprofessional.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience. The value for money simply wasn’t there, and I’m unlikely to return.
Event Organisers Beware
We recently attempted to contract event space at the Marriott Hotel Regents Park for an upcoming conference. After three weeks of back-and-forth negotiations—both verbal and via email—with staff we’ve known for over 15 years, we were assured that specific dates were on hold for us and that we had right of first refusal. Based on these assurances, we chose to move forward with the Marriott, despite having already invested considerable time and money touring and evaluating other venue options.
Midway through the process, we were unexpectedly asked to pay the full balance upfront—something highly unusual in the events industry. When we requested alternative options, we were offered credit terms instead, which then caused further delays due to a credit check that took far longer than originally promised.
After three weeks of planning and coordination—having declined other venues and incurred costs for travel, staffing, and logistics—we were ready to sign the contract, only to be informed that a member of the Marriott team had sold one of the dates we had on hold to another party. Despite their apology and claim of “human error,” no resolution, alternative, or compensation was offered.
This experience highlights a worrying trend in the events industry: the erosion of trust and professionalism in venue sales processes. For decades, the standard has been clear—clients with a “first hold” are to be given the right of first refusal before space is released to others. It’s a system built on integrity and long-term relationships.
Unfortunately, this experience demonstrated a lack of strategic oversight, outdated booking systems, and little regard for client loyalty or professional standards. We lost thousands in staff time, travel expenses, and administrative planning as a result.
We cannot recommend Marriott Hotel Regents Park to any professionals in the event industry seeking a reliable and trustworthy venue partner.
AC Marriott Manchester
Not worth the £180 per night (room only) at the AC Marriott Manchester. Basic room, nothing special, 15min wait to check inn.
They overcharged and refused to refund the money
I stayed at Marriot Hotel in York . I paid the family room (£514.90) but somehow they charged from my card another two payments (£113.05 plus £401.85). Despite providing the hotel with all the evidence: the bank statement and the reference from my bank , the hotel keeps denying charging me additional £514.90. They keep responding that they can't find the additional £514.90 charge so they don't give me my money back .Now I have started a dispute with my bank
My wife Linda and myself left a deposit…
My wife Linda and myself left a deposit in January 2025 to stay at Le Meridien hotel Mauritius June 2025 through Travel Republic. Someone has bought out our booking and we have been offered a Marriott Westin Hotel and a 30 minute SPA treatment as compensation. We don’t like SPA treatments and don’t want their Westin Hotel. I was brought up when you shake on a deal the deal is done. This organisation operates with no moral compass in my eyes. We have declined the offer and will book a non Marriott hotel. We will never use this hotel group again. Absolutely disgusting way to treat your customers.
Marriott Swansea - concrete beds
Marriott Swansea - stayed for two nights - the bed was so hard and uncomfortable - it's a shame as the hotel is perfectly located by the beach and marina but sleeping on that bed was absolute torture.
I did complain to reception after the first night to be told that all their beds are exactly the same and nobody else complains ( ie it's just you madam being a drama queen)

Disappointing! Marriott Downtown, Abu Dhabi
I stayed at the Marriott Downtown in Abu Dhabi for a business trip (4 day conference).
Despite the rating, it is not that bad. The decor is straight out of the 80s and needs redoing, but the rooms are very spacious and comfortable.
They have all of the usual comforts such as sauna, gym and the usual bars if that is what you want. There is nothing special to write home about.
The reason for my review is that i pre paid breakfast and managed to miss it on my first day. That is on me, however, the hotel is refusing a refund, and have not offered anything else to compensate in order to make me feel comfortable or at home. They didn't even have the decency to apologise... it was just a 'matter of fact' for them, so i felt as though i was making an issue for them... how inconvenient! The response i received and the manner in which i received it is definitely not 5 star!
As a traveler, I feel that the hotel cares about it's profit margin more than anything and that visitors are here to be taken advantage of. It is very disappointing.
Whether they mention no refunds for small things like this or not in the small print, it is unethical to charge for services not provided.
So although the hotel is 'ok' (definitely not 5 star in my opinion), DO NOT PRE PAY ANYTHING as there is no flexibility. You will not be staying here at your convenience, you will be here at their convenience.
I leave here disappointed. I will be informing my colleagues to consider carefully if they wish to stay here.
Shame this hotel is just another faceless corporation that doesn't care when things go wrong.
Good luck.
Nashville airport First meeting was ok
Nashville airport First meeting was ok, the bar where we were supposed to eat was terrible, rude staff who didn't listen. no specification on the bar note at check-out even after we asked for it. the breakfast buffet consisted of a row, sorry do you have more plates, more bacon, more bread etc. many irritated guests. the shower took 5 minutes to get hot water and then not very hot and when the heat came the pressure disappeared. the whole hotel seems to forget about the guests. the cleaning was good I should add.
Duplicate bookings and unauthorised collections from my Credit Card
Booked 2 rooms at Sheraton Skyline Heathrow.
They charged me three times on my credit card (i.e. for 3 rooms). Credit Card complany asked me to try and resolve with Marriott.
Seems they created a duplicate booking for one of my rooms and authorised themselves to take a third payment from my credit card (i.e. without my authorisation).
One issue is that Marriott are running multiple booking systems - so the booking website or app seems to be different to the booking system they use at the hotel.
Their systems and processes are dreadful, and the website/app seems to be a "lipstick on a pig" approach for their complex backends.
There is also no Marriott complaints team with super-users to fix their issues, so I've had multiple calls to reseverations and front desk to try and resolve.
Courtyard by Marriott-Edinburgh Excellent
Spent a short break here with my son and we are already looking into rebooking for September.
Fantastic location, staff could not do enough for us and went above and beyond
Room was spotless and very well appointed.
Location is excellent with the tram literally across the road
Could not fault it
Cape Town Sunshine!
We have just been staying in Cape Town South Africa for the last week and we wanted to give a shout out to the AC Marriott Team Cape Town and especially Chwayita and Richard who looked after us every day for the last week. Great service, good fun and very helpful! Thank you.

Booking.com and Delta Hotels.
Booking.com and Delta Hotels.
Two hotel rooms booked at Delta Hotels by Marriott Manchester Airport through Booking.com
Booking Number: 4345123750
The experience encountered in booking through Booking.com at this hotel in my opinion has been nothing short of a complete disaster - the level of customer service has been nothing short of terrible, and I now question the value of anyone EVER booking through Booking.com again!!
Two rooms were booked but due to a medical issue I/we were unable to attend so advised the hotel in advance of the visit so that they could use the rooms for someone else (19/12/2024). I wasn’t even asking for a refund.
But the hotel offered / agreed to a change of date (29/01/2025) and Booking.com agreed that if the hotel agreed then all was fine with then too but wanted this direct from the hotel (I have this in writing). Booking.com and the hotel did not appear to be willing to contact each other and blamed each other for the lack of communication.
One month later Booking.com and Delta Hotels by Marriott Manchester Airport have gone back on what they both confirmed in writing. I am now left with no hotel rooms and having to search and pay again for more rooms for tomorrow night.
I have been in contact with both the hotel and Booking.com more that 20 times and they accept their poor level of service but are not willing to resolve the issue that they have caused – I have even copied their CEO (Glen Fogel into correspondence) and no reply from him/their leader so setting poor standards.
I would highly recommend other people avoid using Booking.com or Marriott Hotels for their travel requirement and book direct or local. AVOID.
If anyone wanted the full detail of the exchange with Booking.com and/or Delta Hotels by Marriott Manchester Airport then I am more than happy to share, such so that what I have written can be verified. David Evans

Well well, I have to say for the first time in many years, I couldn't find any fault with this hotel. The service throughout was fantastic! The staff are well trained to a high standard, professional and friendly. The rooms are fantastic, especially a hotel that has baths available, and not just a boring shower. The bed were really comfortable again, not experienced that in years, and the room itself was very cosy with a big TV. 10/10 from me, because normally I can find fault somewhere being someone with high standards, and I couldn't here! Very pleased!
