⭐ 1/5 — Complaint upheld, yet just £50 offered after an appalling repair experience

My experience with Activate Accident Repair has been extremely disappointing, and their final response to my complaint has done little to restore my confidence.

My vehicle was sent to Activate for accident repairs through my insurer. The first attempt to return it to me was on 14 August. During that return, Activate’s own delivery driver collided with a parked vehicle while driving my car, causing further damage to a vehicle that had supposedly just been repaired.

A second return was attempted on 19 August, but after inspecting the vehicle I was unhappy with the quality of the repair and finish and refused to accept it. Among my concerns was a visible masking line, which subsequently formed part of my complaint.

My vehicle was eventually returned to me on 3 September.

Activate Group’s complaints team has now confirmed that my complaint is closed as “Upheld”. They acknowledge there were “service issues identified during our investigation”, yet their final offer to compensate me for the experience is just £50.

Their justification appears to be that I had a hire vehicle throughout the claim and therefore my mobility needs were met. I find that response particularly disappointing. Providing alternative transport doesn’t undo the fact that my car had to be returned multiple times, that I rejected it because of concerns over the repair, or — most seriously — that their own driver crashed my car into another vehicle while it was being returned to me.

There was also unnecessary aggravation surrounding the hire vehicle, including an attempt to have it collected while my own vehicle was still with Activate. Their final email has at least confirmed that I have not been held liable for any hire charges.

Activate advertise themselves as collision repair experts who restore vehicles to their pre-accident condition “quickly, safely and efficiently.” My experience was anything but.

The most telling point is that Activate’s own complaints process ultimately upheld my complaint, yet after everything that happened they consider £50 to be an appropriate final goodwill payment.

I don’t.

Based on my experience, I could not recommend Activate Accident Repair, and I would certainly think twice before allowing my vehicle to be sent there again.

I had a great experience with Steer Basingstoke when they repaired my car. The whole process was handled very professionally, and the team were friendly, efficient and kept everything clean and tidy.

The repair was completed quickly and to a very high standard. I’m really pleased with the service and the quality of the work.

One "OneCallClaims" eventually got their act together and passed me over to Activate, all was very smooth - until it got to the point of Activate passing the estimate back to OneCallClaims for authorisation, where they then buggered about doing nothing for a week. It ended up with me, the repairer and Activate chasing OneCallClaims.

Activate put me with a local bodyshop, I had an amexcellent job done in a sensible timeframe. Can't fault Activate or Steer Weston (repairers).

But whatever you do, don't waste your money insuring with "OneCall" as the name shpuld be a breach of Tradi g Standards rules for complete misrepresentation. They are an absute shower of that stuff that regularly rains from the north end of a south facing cow!

If it wasn't for Activate and Steer doing such a superb job. I'd have been speaking with the Ombudsman by now.

Straight from the start the staff were so friendly and updated me through out the repairs being done to my car they delivered a courtesy car to use well my car was being repaired and after the repairs my car looked brand new even the man who bought my car back was so polite and professional this kind of service is so hard to find i highly recommend this company well impressed

Shocking company cause more damage to your vehicle while it is in the workshop, don’t do the work that they are getting paid for and cut corners where they can and then get hoopers to come do an inspection who while they are looking at the car agree with what you are saying and how bad the work is and then when you get the report they have totally changed what they said, absolute joke both companies
