They will pick up a sofa, chair, washer and dryers on big trash day, but they refuse to pick up and dump a regular trash can without a lift bar that contains 2 small 15 gal white trash bags. Those bags have to be out on the ground and available for rodents or strays to rip open and spread trash all over the street. What the hell!!! If you do put out a can as I originally was told I could do by their customer service rep the day before trash pickup -the trash guy picks up my whole brand new trash can and throws it in the truck with the trash. I had to run down the trash truck to get my trash can out of the truck before the idiot crushed it.

They are not a green company! I cancelled my recycle since they have shown their true colors.

Oh and customer service sucks. Talked to a supervisor named Dwayne who said he would call back the next day. He never did. So customer service sucks too.

Get a clue Republic. You are NOT A GREEN company and you suck at what you do.

Last week I said this company is a joke after missing a recycling pick-up again. Today they missed the trash pick-up. How is it possible to be so bad at serving your customers?

Absolutely the worst SERVICE EVER. YOU WILL SPEND HOURS TRYING TO CONTACT THEM AND RECEIVE NO RESPONSE WATSOEVER. BUYER BEWARE..

I had Republic Services 18 years, dealt with them not showing up for weeks at a time at times & often would say someone would call & didn't happen. Now they took my cans without notice, I didn't cancel, and prior to the end of a contract. They acted for days like they had no clue what happened then said they didn't service my area any more & to find someone else to get the trash & recycling overflow. After, I contacted the BBB to complain. Yesterday, a bill for the can removal of $90 arrived. Know I was on auto-pay & this was a company decision not mine. When I called, they said they'd removed the fees as a "courtesy." Bad business.

I’ve been with republic services for years. Since 2020, each time I signed a lower price contract within 2-4 months the price would increase. In September 2024, I called about how high it was. They sent a new proposal with a lower price. I signed it and within 2 months it was back up. So yesterday, I called to cancel it due to them actually voiding the contract by increasing prices from when I signed. Now they want me to pay $1588 in liquidation damages because I am cancelling before the contract ends. 6 months of fees is what they are charging. Do not sign with them. Their practice is questionable. Oh but they gave me a $171 credit for being over charged for the last 6 months. It’s okay for them to overcharge and break contract but for consumers it’s not!

They absolutely will NOT let you cancel services and will continue to rack up charges and interruption fees and keep hounding you for payment while leaving their dumpster on your property. Don't sign up with these people!

We’ve had service 5 years now, suddenly after 5 years they are saying the road leading to our house is too steep, they have been giving us the run around for over a month now, they go back and forth between saying they’ll come get the trash to we are closing your account due to safety. It’s been overflowing for a month now. If you are going to breech the contract come pick up your dumpster.

Our bill has gone up 50% over the past 3 years. They miss pickups regularly, when you call to get the bill adjusted they only change it by a few dollars. When I finally had enough and called to cancel, they informed me I was locked into a 36 month contract and would be required to pay out the rest of the contract. In order for my contract NOT to auto-renew I had to give more than 60 days but less than 180 days notice. As soon as I gave notice to not renew, my bill went up AGAIN! And they started calling me continuously trying to talk me out of canceling. I’ve never dealt with a more slimy, conniving, dishonest company.

Yesterday I called Customer Service to address my last invoice which included a 30% increase from the prior; long wait time & eventually I was put in a queue for a call back. When they were not able to lower my yard waste service, I informed them I would like to discontinue this service. They said they would charge a $30 fee to discontinue the service & pick up the container! They did offer to lower my garbage service, so I thought we were getting somewhere. In regards to the refund for the lower garbage rate & cancelled yard waste, I was informed that would come next quarter! Seriously, who does this, other than cheats and scumbags? Given this was completely unacceptable, I informed them I would be cancelling my garbage service too. I was then informed they would be charging me another $30 cancellation/pickup fee even thought both would be picked up the same day - presumably on the same trip. I would like to send into the universe my intent, that tens of thousands hear this information, chose to shun this despicable company, and our communities & nation become free of companies like this one that practice policies such as this and choose to prey on us.

Hi y'all, I just wanted to let everyone know what a rip off Republic Services is!!! First of all, their charges fluctuate so much it is hard to tell if your bill is even accurate. My average bill was close to $200 every quarter; over $100 for trash, $15+ for recycling, $50-65 for "fuel/environmental recovery", and a $6 administrative fee! Those last two charges seem like total BS, by the way.

On January 6 of this year, I called Republic to cancel my service effective immediately; they arranged to pick up my cans the next week and told me it would be $35 per can for pick up. Here we are several months later and I've been charged $40 per can and billed for their services for the entire month of January! And of course, they are refusing to negate those charges, even though I did not even have cans to use their services for all of that time. (And yes, I have reported them to the BBB).

If you can go with another company, do it. At first the service was spotty at best and then when we moved, things got much worse.

After calling in to say we were moving and no longer needed the account, we were racking up fees for 8 months and now we are in collections. Today we called and said we were being billed for service at a house we no longer occupied, and since we know it is occupied, we're absolutely sure they’re double-billing that address.

So, everyone should know that they are easy to contact to set up an account, but make it very difficult to cancel one, precisely because there’s a lot of money to be made in the overlap. Most people will just pay the couple hundred dollars out of fear for their credit score.

On top of it all the agent we spoke with was rude and hung up! This company needs to be held accountable for not closing accounts when requested.

The lid on our dumpster has been broken for two weeks. Their driver doesn't report it. He left a bag of trash hanging off the hinge. This is the second broken lid I have had to report because their drivers don't care.

Republic truck#2444 drove up my private narrow driveway unauthorized. It t had its right side lifting claw down. The metal claw ripped down approximately 35feet of a 100 foot long retaining wall. The truck then got turned around and took off. No notification. Hit & Run. This is on Camera and there are two eye witnesses. The material the wall is made of is no longer made so the only way to fix the wall is to replace all 100 feet. Republic’s insurance company CCMSI is refusing to properly repair the damage and Republic doesn’t return calls or emails. They are trying to stick me with a $28k bill to repair my own wall which they destroyed!!

We have a commercial account. I had to create a sheet to check off when they showed and when they didn't because they didn't always show though our contract says it is a 5-day pick up service for both trash & recycling.
Then the owners sold the building. I was hired by the new owners. I have been trying to change the owners names for almost 2 months! I have called numerous times; they said, we called you too (1/28 'several times' & 2/12 again, 'several times') - they lied. My office phone keeps a history of all calls going out and coming in. I had no voicemails either. I worked an average of 10 hrs/day. Yesterday, my 100th or so request was 'elevated to a supervisor.' Our account manager, A.B. isn't doing her job. You would think after 2 months someone would call today, no. No one did. But I did get an email saying they were going to interrupt the service if the bill isn't paid. Ironic.
This is occurring in DC. I am going to ask around if there is another trash service available for our area in DC. I fail to see how chaniging the owner's name is so difficult. And I fail to see how no one can take the time to reach out for something so simple it is elementary.
I have had an issue in the past where they threatened to cut our service because a bill wasn't paid. It took me about 4 months to clear it up. They had added or merged the restaurant's own service with the commercial building's service. We paid our bills, but the restaurant, who had its own contract, was behind. But someone in the office couldn't figure it out until I sent a spreadsheet with canceled checks, and told them figure it out, something is wrong in the office. I did their work for them. So frustrating.
I fear my next step is having to physically go to their office and get the name changed. Either that or cancel the contract after getting someone else.

I wasn't able to pay a given payment and they charged me to interrupt my service and then charged me again to restore the services!!! This is very upsetting to do that to people who work their hard earned money!! Fine to charge one fee, but two?!!!

We live Clay Township Montgomery County Ohio and our recycling has not been picked up for the last two months. Our regular trash has been up every week.

I can't say enough about how horrible Republic is. There is such a lack of integrity. I would give -100 for their service. There are too many problems to write here, but as the person in charge of trash for our HOA, I have had to call Republic at least once EVERY WEEK for SIX MONTHS for some problem since I took over this responsibility for our HOA. Their promises are hardly ever honored or finally honored weeks or months later. They won't even EVER give the courtesy to contact me about delays in trash pickup for 115 homes or non-delivery and non-pickup of damaged trash receptacles for months. Homeowners' trash is out for over a week waiting day-by-day to have the trash picked up. Several weeks, even in good weather, our trash is not picked up at all. Our HOA is fed up and wants to cancel the contract because Republic has essentially not fulfilled its contract obligations. However, Republic threatens to sue the HOA, even when the company doesn't deliver. I could go on and on, including horrendous service at my previous address before I moved into this HOA where Republic charged a certain price, but raised it astronomically without informing us. Then, when we would call to ask why Republic raised the price without notifying us, our price was lowered... for one month. Then, guess what? It was raised again without informing us! Sleazy! They lie all of the time, too. Our HOA residents are furious with this company. We can't wait to get rid of Republic service! Do NOT hire Republic, and do not engage in a contract with them.

Extremely overpriced service. Shop around, I promise you'll find cheaper and more reliable service elsewhere. I had to call several times for missed pick ups. They routinely left trash behind, strewn all over the road and surrounding property. When I canceled their service, they proceeded to charge me $200 for the next quarter, even though I no longer had an account with them. Not only did they charge me for services no longer being provided, they also over drew my bank account and cost me an overdraft fee. I now have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for them to mail me a check to refund my money, because they allegedly cannot just refund my money directly back into my account. BE WARY OF AUTO PAY WITH THIS COMPANY AND THIS COMPANY IN GENERAL!!!!

UPDATE***After three more tries, I still have not heard back from them. Total failure in the customer service department!!****I'd give them -5 stars if I could. Once again, Republic Services has charged us for an "overage fee" because the front corner of our dumpster was above the rim of the dumpster by a few inches due to a SMALL sized garbage bag being placed in it the end of the previous day. Don't be fooled by their rate quotes. They'll add numerous ridiculous overage charges for anytime the lid is mere inches above the top of the dumpster rim. I could understand when the dumpster is packed so high that the hydraulics cannot lift the container, or if debris in the dumpster catches the edge of dumpster when lifting, OR if the driver actually had to get out of the truck to facilitate dumping, but $54.50 for a SMALL waste basket bag tossed on top??? THIS is how they make their money, by making obscene billing charges. TOTAL RIP OFF. No wonder their reviews are so bad.
