Richardson & Starling Avis 

Having previously had a not great experience getting damp proofing done, I was super reluctant to have it done again.

Having walls cut out within your house in more than one room at a time is extremely intrusive, you have several tradespeople in your house plumbers joiners plasterers and its messy loud and the dust is awful.

I really was dreading it, however as soon as I opened the door to Norrie and Paul I was instantly made to feel at ease.

Norrie explained what they were going to do and in what timescale and kept that level of communication up with me the entire time they were here.

Both Norrie and Paul were respectful of our property realising to us it is our home , they tidied up behind them as they went to minimise the mess, they even notified us when they were about to drill or use the nail gun so that we could take our dog a walk as he doesnt like the noise.

Both Norrie and Paul were extremely conscientious, ,communicative, neat, tidy and also respectful of our needs over the 5 days they attended.

On top of all this the level of finish on their work was exceptional.
Many other tradespeople could learn from theise guys
I would 100% recommend either of these guys
to do a job.

First class diligent workers from start to finish. First day Thursday David and Daniel never stopped and then storm Eowyn took over. On the Monday John, Arran and Lewis and once again superb. All men very polite and pleasant and explained what was happening. Roddy and Steven made sure our work was carried our to their standards. Left house and pathways very clean. Myself and my husband bought a cottage in July this year but before we bought the property we contacted and paid R&S kirkcaldy to do a damp survey, they came back to us with their findings at a cost of £6284.40, which was fair enough so we were able to go back to the sellers and have the sale price reduced by £4000, we paid R&S to do the works they stated needed done, and we were told it would take 3 and a half days, they arrived on the Monday at 8.30 which was great, quicker it's done the better.(or so we thought,)we have 2 dogs so they had to stay at my parents, I returned to the house around 3.30 that day to discover the workmen had gone already and it appeared that very little work had commenced, considering when they arrived at 8.30 they were coming to lift flooring and carpets but myself and my husband had it all done for them so it should have been a case of coming in and getting stuck straight into the rip out and repair of the damp issues, then on the Tuesday, 10.30 they arrived, I again went to my parents, due to work being commenced in our bathroom we were only able to use the toilet so we were having to go to my parents every day for showering, I returned back home about 3 o'clock and once again they were gone, still looked like very little was done in how ever long they were actually here, then came Wednesday, 10.45 and no one, so I contacted the office to be told someone would phone me back, I got a call back within 10 minutes to say that the workmen were on there way, 20 minutes later they arrived, I went to my parents again, returned back home at 2.30 to find the 2 workmen sat in the van on their phones, the work quoted to be fixed was in 4 different areas of our home, bathroom, bedroom, livingroom and loft, we live in a 2 bedroom cottage so we only had use of 1 room and the kitchen, I came in the house and there was hole in our bathroom floor and a massive hole in our livingroom and half the wall removed from the bathroom into the bedroom, (which we kinda oxpected) I went out to the van and tapped the window to get their attention, they came into the house and said they have a problem in the livingroom, the part of the floor they needed to remove and replace had a problem because the gas meter was attached to a part of it and they could not remove all of the rotten floorboards due to this, (were they just going to think I would be happy with this) I contacted the gas board and they sent someone out to lift the gas meter so they could get all the rotten board out and replace them, at the end of the day that's what we were paying for. Also in the bathroom, they got their plumber out to removed the shower and sink, the shower was to be replaced so damaging that was not an issue but the sink was fine but needed to be removed to lift the floorboards, instead of the plumber peeling the silicone off around the sink he just ripped it off the wall therefore broke 4/5 tiles which were still attached to the sink and they broke the kick plate at the bottom of the sink unit so made it unusable, we had to purchase a new sink and unit out our own pocket and we had to rush to get the new sink and unit the next day, instead of replacing the broken tiles they put a bit wet wall over the broken tiles before installing our new sink and which we agreed to, by the end of Thursday most of the work had been done, Friday came and they still had the loft to do (spray with some sort of insecticide)and the plumber had all the plumbing to do in the bathroom, he did a fantastic job, so the 1 star is for him. The 2 workmen that had been here all week started of being nice and friendly but by the end of the week the older one of the 2 because quite obnoxious and patronising because I voiced my dissatisfaction about things that either was or was not getting done and the times they would arrive and leave. His excuse was they were short staffed and have had to be elsewhere as well, I said that this was not our problem, they were scheduled to be at our home on these days so should not be putting my work on hold after it has been started. Since the work had been completed (or so we thought) we started to get the house the way we want it, new flooring painting decorating ect; we stripped all the wallpaper off throughout the whole house, first problem, we got a joiner in to lay the bathroom laminate and he discovered they hadnt sealed or attached the wetwall properly, it bangs on the wall if you push it slightly, they sent someone out and he run a bit silicone down the join and away they went, that was the first pro elm, secondly, apon stripping the wallpaper of throughout the house, we discovered the outer walls were wet and had black damp over them, and on rainy days my husband discovered the water was running down the inside of the loft and into the main house hence the wet and damp walls, we paid a specialist from R&S to check this and clearly was not done properly. There is more to say but no room!

I recently moved in to a council property and have had Richard and starling come out and fit a new kitchen , they have plastered walls , from Dundee office team to there workmen I can’t thank them enough with everything they have done. Nothing was to much to ask and everything that needed done was done very promptly and professionally , massive thank you to Wendy at Dundee office for being so helpful and kind in a time of when I needed some reassurance

I telephoned the Edinburgh office of R&S on three occasions over 3 consecutive days (1/10-3/10) following the recommendation of my insurance company. Despite being reassured that the person who arranged appointments would call me back and the subsequent apologies from the person I spoke to, nobody did.
Not very professional.

The plumber Brian and joiner Daniel were friendly and efficient

Complete waste of time and money. Surveyor turned up, spent less than 5 minutes in the house and told me my wall was leaking. Remove the render and redo he said. Would have cost £0000's.

Turned out there was a leak at the boiler in the attic above the damp area, fixed for free. Wall now drying out nicely.

What a waste of money for a non survey.

Arron & Ross was Well mannered very helpful cheerful never left any mess

Evan & later Dean visited our home last week to carry out some rising damp issues. Their work was carried out in a professional manner from start to finish. They worked relentlessly and left our home in as clean and tidy state as possible. Well done to them and a credit to your company.

The lads were great very helpful and were happy to do anything I asked. Their workmanship was superb, totally first class.
