Timber Composite Doors Avis 

My experience with Timber Composite Doors started well... but went fundamentally wrong... twice!

Planning to replace my front door, I did plenty of research and decided on TCD after reading online reviews.

I designed my door online at the end of August, and paid the 50% deposit. So far so good.

The first attempt to fit the door, on 27th September, failed as a completely different door to the one I had ordered arrived with the fitters. My door had gone to a customer in Luton instead of being delivered to Glasgow. I then had to wait three weeks for a new fitting date and for the correct door. The second attempt also failed as despite the door being the correct design, its orientation was the opposite to what I ordered and had paid a deposit on, meaning the door was hinged on the wrong side and would open the opposite way to what I had ordered. My original front door had been removed by the fitters who had obviously discovered the problem as they then disappeared into their van for a long while as they called in to advise the situation to Timber Composite Doors. I was eventually called by a Timber Composite Doors employee who explained the situation and a discussion followed about how the matter might be resolved. This included returning the door and waiting for the correct door to be manufactured and waiting for yet another date and a third attmpt for fitting, or; accepting the wrong door with a potential discount on the balance.

Accepting that door meant the lightswitch would be behind the open door. Not ideal as the new door would need to be closed before I can turn the lights on. The switch would need to be relocated and the hall redecorated. The initial offer of a reduction of £150 was insulting and I requested a manager to call me back. The fitters, leaving me with no front door, left to complete another job while the matter was being resovled as I was waiting for my call back. They returned some time later but I had still not received a call. I eventually called Timber Composite Doors and spoke to yourself. An offer of £350 was made if I accepted the door. The fitters said there was no time to fit the door on that day now and left after replacing my original front door.

Having discussed it with my wife and not wanting any further delays, I decided to go ahead with fitting the incorrect door and emailed you confirmation of this. A third fitting date was arranged for another two weeks time. I would still be left with work to do to relocate the lightswitch to the other side of the hall and redecorate. Jobs that would not have been required had the correct door been supplied as ordered. The second offer to reduce the outstanding balance by £350 will not cover this addtional expense so I will be out of pocket for a twice postponed installation with the wrong door turning up on both occasions.

I am pleased with the new door but the levels of incompetence I experienced getting it was frustrating to say the least.

Time off work, having to keep my dogs couped up while I had no front door for hours and undervalued compensation have left a bitter taste in the mouth.

I hope everyone else has better luck with their new door and I don't have any issues with mine!

Door was nice, delivered quickly good quality. Would have been nice to know it came in 5 pieces though when fitting double door and side panels

Excellent company to do business with. I used their online design tool which is user friendly allowed me to alter my chosen door and prices along the way. Courteous staff called later and attended for the survey. The door is now installed and is fantastic. I highly recommend.

Very happy with my new door. Great choice of colours. Very smooth and easy process from order to fitting the door. Payments in stages throughout the process so you don’t have to pay all at once was also very helpful.

From ordering my door online, talking through the order with a Customer Service individual, to the surveyor coming out to measure up and look at what needed doing, and the final installation, I was thoroughly impressed with Timber Composite Doors (and Martindales who did the actual installation). The customer service and quality of the work are both excellent. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the service they provided, and would thoroughly recommend them.

My new garage side door feels more secure and promises to be much more thermally efficient than the old door that it as replaced.

Good looking door. I was a bit worried about the door quality but it turned up to be good.
Is missing a hint of installation but with a good filter you can manage.
The lock system seems to work fine after 2 weeks. Otherwise price/quality will say go for it.

Very easy to select the exact configuration of Solidoor that we were after. Customer support team very friendly and easily contacted. Door was fitted with no hassle, looks great.

Many issues…

1. We ordered brushed aluminium hinges and handles. Once installed it was clear they were from different manufacturers and didn’t match at all. I sent photos highlighting the difference but was told because I got what I ordered I would have to pay for any changes and another installation cost.

2. The surveying company used recommended a threshold that wasn’t compatible with the french door arrangement we wanted and so had to be changed.

3. There was no cill included in our order so the installation team had to make one out of trim (not ideal).

4. Oh and the trickle vents were missing (still waiting for them to be installed).

Overall very disappointed.

Very straightforward process. Although I think it would have been useful to go through our order with an agent as we overlooked a couple of things, which we regret, like having a lock you can put on the latch and having frosted glass instead of clear!

This is a very professional company who offer an excellent product. I was impressed that the door site was surveyed beforehand by an expert and had every confidence that the new door would fit snuggly, which it does.

The fitters too were pleasant and efficient and I am delighted with my new door. For me, this was a high-end purchase, but you get what you pay for and the new door has already made a difference to the ambient temperature of the house.

I chose your company because I was impressed with the fact that I was able to choose the door I wanted and able to design it myself,then when I telephoned to order I received excellent advice.Also the price was very good compared with other companies.Your fitters did a wonderful job and cleaned up afterwards with no damage to existing plasterwork

I have had my door now for over a week and am very happy, it’s stylish and well fitted, what a great company to deal with, the two guys who fitted the door were friendly, very professional and respectful of my home, they have fitted my door perfectly, cannot fault my experience with this company and would definitely recommend them.

Exactly what I ordered, delivery was on time and as agreed. Great all round experience.

Ordering of the door was very easy although before I ordered I did receive too many follow up emails.
