I discovered this was a new removal company on Trustatrader.
From the initial contact I found the company Miller Moves professional with prompt replies to enquiries etc.
Their services and pricing were laid out in a clear format.
The staff that came on the day were prompt, friendly and completed the job in a quick and clean manner.

Do not trust this platform to protect consumers.

Last year, I hired a trader through TrustATrader who claimed to be an experienced kitchen fitter. It later became clear he had never fitted a full kitchen before. The work contained multiple basic errors which caused extensive damage and has cost me thousands of pounds to rectify.

An independent adjudicator ruled in my favour and awarded compensation. However, due to the limitations of the adjudication process, I was unable to recover the full financial losses. The trader then refused to pay the awarded amount unless I agreed to waive my legal right to pursue the remaining costs through the courts. I refused and have now been forced to take legal action.

I provided TrustATrader with independent inspection reports, photographic evidence, and the adjudicator’s findings. Despite this, they have continued to allow the trader to advertise on their platform. In contrast, Which? Trusted Traders removed their endorsement of the trader immediately after reviewing the evidence.

TrustATrader have stated they do not believe the trader breached the adjudication outcome, despite the award requiring payment without conditions attached. They also informed me they operate a “three-strike rule,” meaning a trader can continue advertising and potentially damaging more customers’ homes before meaningful action is taken.

To make matters worse, when I submitted a negative review about the trader, TrustATrader asked me to amend it and withheld publication until I agreed to edits.

From my experience, this platform appears far more focused on protecting paying traders than protecting consumers.

Response to Trust A Traders reply:
Firstly, you have just called me to ask questions you already know the answers to, and your response now completely twists the situation.

I am not taking the trader to court because I was “unhappy” with the adjudication outcome. I am taking him to court because he refused to pay the money awarded to me by the adjudicator unless I agreed to waive my legal rights to pursue him for the remaining costs of rectifying the damage caused to my home.

Two independent reports — one from Wren Kitchens and one from RISA — found the trader’s work to be well below the standard expected. Despite this evidence, TrustATrader continues to promote him on its platform.

You state you want to wait for the outcome of the court case before taking action, yet you are ignoring the fact that the quality of the work itself has already been independently assessed as substandard.

Examples include:

* Hob being glued to the worktop and the dishwasher being fixed in such a way that neither appliance could be removed for servicing or repair without causing significant damage
* Kitchen wall cupboards hanging off the wall because the correct brackets and fixings were not used
* Kitchen floor tiles laid using the “dot and dab” method, resulting in tiles cracking and moving

And that is only a small sample of the issues identified. There were approximately 15-
20 serious defects documented in independent reports.

So let’s be clear: this is not simply a financial dispute. The workmanship itself has already been independently assessed and found to be unacceptable.

The impression being given is that TrustATrader is less concerned about protecting future consumers from demonstrably poor workmanship and more concerned with waiting to see how much compensation a court awards before deciding whether action should be taken against the trader.

Frankly, that is ridiculous and deeply concerning for consumers using your platform.

I always feel safer using Trusted Trader to source trustworthy tradesmen. My experiences have been mixed, but I shall continue to do so, nevertheless.

My experience with TrustATrader was extremely disappointing and, frankly, a complete waste of time.

After spending days gathering documentation, business information, reviews, insurance details and complying with every stage of their vetting process, my application was suddenly rejected with a generic “membership failure” email and absolutely no meaningful explanation.

I have been trading successfully for over 5 years and maintain excellent reviews across multiple other platforms, with a strong reputation and many satisfied customers. Despite this, TrustATrader refused the application while also refusing to provide any transparency whatsoever about the reasoning.

The most frustrating part was the amount of time wasted. Their process required significant effort and cooperation from my side, only to end with a blanket refusal stating their “decision is final” and that they are “not at liberty to discuss” the outcome.

For a company branding itself around trust and fairness, the experience felt surprisingly opaque and dismissive.

I understand vetting is important, but if legitimate businesses are expected to invest time into lengthy applications, there should at least be a fair and transparent process with clear communication.

Based on my experience, I would advise other tradespeople to think carefully before investing their time into the application process.

It was useful and we found/choose a really good company for our needs.
But I will not use it again, as I got a lot of emails and calls that I did not want.

I was impressed by the verification process that 'pre-screened' my customer feedback. Very few customer feedback platforms have such a detailed and meticulous process. For instance: I was asked to provide a photo of the work being carried out, the exact date of the contract and full details of the contractor. Very impressed!
