We are the main link between the Isle of Wight and the mainland. Every year, we carry over 4.6 million passengers, making us one of the UK’s largest domestic ferry operators. We provide Island residents with an easy and frequent service to the mainland, as well as giving millions of holidaymakers a taste of Island life. Crossings take approximately 22 minutes by catamaran and from 40 minutes by car ferry. And we operate three convenient routes and just under 46,000 crossings a year. We are also dedicated to giving excellent customer service and the best facilities on board and at our Terminals. As most people who travel to and from the Island do so with us, we are truly a part of Island life. We are proud to support IOW communities wherever we can, from sports sponsorship to local regeneration projects. And we offer Isle of Wight residents great value Multilink Pass tickets, making travel to the mainland easy and affordable.

Thoughtful service

11.40am Fishourne to Portsmouth service today. The port manager was fantastic, helping me to get an emergency ticket. My vision was so poor so he stopped what he was doing and did it all for me. He also noticed I was struggling to walk so he arranged help onto and off the ship.
Providing incontinence pads and a bin for us lot with prostate cancer was class. Asking for a package for Alan meant I was never embarrassed .
Thank you. Thank you for allowing us old blokes to travel and with dignity.

Wightlink are a joke

Wightlink are a joke. We arrived early, yet their staff stopped the queue two cars short of the boat, so we missed a ferry that was already running half an hour late. No system, no organisation, no apology. Just some bloke telling us it was "only your two cars" that missed it, as if turning up early for a delayed boat is our fault. You took our money and wasted our time. Useless.

Ferry cancelled due to ‘operational schedule’

We booked tickets on the Wightlink service from Portsmouth to Fishbourne for the IoW festival. We were just going for the Saturday so booked the 2am return crossing. We received a message from Wightlink the day before departure saying our booking had been moved to 4am due to their ‘operational schedule’. It’s frustrating that such a poor reason was given. There were quite a few other festival goers booked onto that ferry who now had to wait another 2 hours to return home after an already long day. Not good enough.

no free water

£2.50 for a bottle of water !

staff said to me ‘ sorry mate it’s a joke . imagine working for them ‘

Absolutely Outstanding!

I had no idea what to expect, I saw the prices and cringed, but then I put the motorcycle in and it was a far better deal. Bear in mind this was the hottest May bank holiday on record, we arrived for the outbound trip a nice and early in order to get tickets, booking references and all that jazz, none of that was required, just give the guy your name, done!, go to the front of the queue, and off we go, it wasn't until I was half way over that I realised we were on the 9.30 and not the 10am, no hassle, no questions. Return journey, the guys sent us to the front once again, had some great banter with the quayside staff and we were off, smooth travel, great staff, efficient, I am sure the outbound trip took 25 minutes and not 40 also! Exceeded expectations as they say, as did the IoW in general, will be coming back for sure.

10 out of 10 - what a joy to use your services

We had a fantastic experience with Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries from start to finish on the busy bank holiday Sunday (24th of May).

The booking process on their website was intuitive and straightforward, making it easy to choose a suitable sailing time. All the key details, including check-in times, were clearly explained, which made planning stress-free.

At the port, the staff were efficient, friendly, and very helpful. Check-in was quick and seamless, setting a great tone for the journey. The ferry itself was clean and comfortable, making for an enjoyable crossing too.

Although we were booked on the 17:40 ferry for our return to Portsmouth, we arrived at the start of the check-in window and were pleasantly surprised to be offered an earlier sailing, which was a great bonus.

Overall, the service was excellent throughout. A big thank you to the team at Wightlink for such a smooth and enjoyable experience.

I live on the Island and purchased a…

I live on the Island and purchased a multi link book of tickets
As i have 2 trips left tried to book and use them HOWEVER even though i am trying to book today they have said my travel date of 3rd June is after the expiry date of 25th May so i cannot use them
They have the money i paid for the tickets but said if i renew another multi link pass i can still use the 2 trips
This seems so unfair !

D'ya know that feeling when you order a…

D'ya know that feeling when you order a takeaway & it turns up 20mins late, stone cold? That's the feeling you get everytime you use Wightlink. Never before have you paid so much money for such poor service. The only reason they get 1 star is because the ferries I've been on haven't sunk. To make matters worse, senior Wightlink management will read this (possibly) & not care, as long as the money keeps coming in.

Good service but high prices

We always travel with Wightlink but the prices
keep going up for us island residents.
There are no deals for island residents.

We would travel to the mainland more often but
it is too expensive.

I cannot believe there is no loyalty scheme for
customers.

The service is good but the prices for such a short
ferry crossing is shocking.

I live on the IOW and am ashamed of Wight Link and their practices. Firstly the cost of travel is extortionate, they wanted £344 return , more than a return ticket to France. Why they even send out coupons I really don't know as apparently they are never valid for the sailings you are trying to book. You cannot get hold of anyone to talk to or book when you are unable to do it on line. Some ferries are suddenly cancelled with no explanation

Notice now removed but still unable to book. Poor service as usual for a ludicrously expensive ferry service. Price during music festival £511 return. Daylight robbery. Most expensive ferry crossing per mile in the world. Just interested in making money for shareholders and not serving the people who have no choice but to use them

Frequent delays to timetable with often…

Frequent delays to timetable with often 2 hours minimum delay. Wightlink should be like airline travel where compensation is automatically paid if 2+hours delay.
Staff are polite and not their fault - just penny pinching on the operation of the ferries. Too often technical problems or staff absence.

Not as advertised

We recently travelled on the Victoria of Wight, which we booked due to having a soft play area to entertain my 16 month old. We were really disappointed (and so was he) when we went to use the area and found all of the rules being ignored. Most of the adults had left their children unattended in the area and it was being used by children who were well over 110cm. The children were charging around the area making it unsafe for the 3 smaller children (my son included) who were trying to use it. Two members of the public did speak to the children who were not theirs - this included my friend who I was travelling with - but this did not stop the behaviour. I had to remove my son from the area after he was almost knocked over multiple times by the much older children. It was very disappointing that this was advertised and then we could not use it or risk my child being harmed by children who should not have been in that area. There were also no members of staff around to inform.

They came back to me and made up various excuses and also stated that regular deck patrols are carried out. We did not see one member of staff on that deck during the entire journey. They also suggested that I go to a different deck and report the issues to the team in the retail area. It should not be my responsibility, especially while having a small child to attend to, to seek out members of staff on a different deck to report that their facilities are not being used as intended or advertised.

Top Customer Service

A lot of very bad reviews here, so just wanted to balance it out & state that Tina from Bookings has been absolutely fantastic in helping me with my first set of multilink passes, this lady has been completely understanding, kind & friendly, very patient & super helpful at getting me sorted out. Thank you Tina, you're an absolute asset to Wightlink.

Dreadful

Dreadful. Would never use again.

We got a text saying our ferry was going to be delayed for 2 hours because it got caught on rope.

We get to the ferry port and get told by the person checking us in "The 4.20 is going but your one at 5.20 is cancelled. You won't be getting on a ferry tonight because the 3.20 was also cancelled, so they will go on any ferries that do move and we are already fully booked."

So we asked "Well what do we do then?" He said "Well I don't have anything to suggest. All I can say is that you can't park here because we are full."

We said "Well we have two young children with us and no hotel for the night"

His response:
"Hasn't everyone?"

So we had to book to go to Southampton instead and pay £130.

It's now been a week of backwards and forwards trying to get our money back. Nothing yet. Just a thousand questions.

They should be compensating us, let alone us having to beg for our money back on a cancelled ferry.

My daughter booked the ferry for …

My daughter booked the ferry for Tuesday 17th from Portsmouth to Fishbourne to see her grandmother who is ill.
All ferries cancelled when she arrived due to a berthing accident . She then had to drive to Southampton with lots of others to try and get a Red Funnel Crossing. All very stressful and tiring.
Now it seems Wightcare will take several weeks to reimburse her money for the crossing cancelled by them . Why???
She has already had to pay Red Funnel for another crossing .
Very poor customer service
