Yellow Jersey Cycle Insurance Avis 

I had a bike insured by Yellow Jersey that was recently stolen. It was parked in the underground level of a private residential garage, accessible only via fob-controlled electronic gates.

I secured the bike by the frame using a Kryptonite Evolution Gold-rated lock and cable kit, fastening it to a heavy-duty pipe. In addition, I used a Kryptonite Keeper Bronze-rated lock to secure the wheels.
On 4th July at around 5:00 AM, two thieves illegally entered the building, used a Angle Grinder, and cut through both locks — I have photographic evidence of the damage.

Despite this, Yellow Jersey denied my claim on the grounds that:
* I did not have the original receipt for the locks;
* I used the Kryptonite flex cable to secure the lock setup instead of placing the U-lock directly around the frame and pipe.
This was a private, secure garage. The bike was locked to a solid, immovable object using two high-quality locks, one of which was Gold-rated and visibly destroyed during the theft.

What else was I expected to do — hire a guard to watch the bike? What is the purpose of insurance if, despite following all the reasonable precautions, the insurer finds technicalities to avoid honouring the claim?

It's clear that with the Angle Grinder, they could cut Diamond, Gold, Silver or wherever. It's sad to see a company more focused on trying to blame me for the issue than analyse the situation. 2 Man invaded a Building with an Angle Grinder and cut 2 locks. It's not about what could I have done anymore, nothing could had stopped them.

The company fairly refunded my race registration fee without hassle. I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the process went.

I have used Yellow Jersey for a number of years now and thankfully no issues/claims until recently. They settled my claim promptly and hassle-free, for the full amount requested for a race cancellation and I will continue using them to insure my bikes and for race protection cover in the future!

Yellow Jersey gave a prompt response to my initial claim, both by phone and email, explaining exactly what was covered and what I needed to do to help them process my claim. Inevitably repairs don't go exactly to plan, however the team worked hard to resolve issues and I'm back on the road.

My claim wasn’t straight forward and I had to jump through a few hoops to begin with but I guess this was understandable given my circumstances. However, I was dealt with courteously and promptly and the handler was appreciative of my position and why I made my claim. Fast responses, clear instructions and a swift resolution. Kian was really helpful and constructive through the claim. The company rules are a bit weird (wouldn't pay for the damage assessment because I got the workshop to do it before claim was settled - but then how do you know what to claim for without assessment???). But that isn't the claim handler's fault, that's a point for senior management.

I’ve been with Yellow Jersey for a few years now and have had bike and travel insurance with them. Their customer service is very helpful and quick to respond. My bike was stolen from my flats and I was supported by Connor through the claims process, who was quick to respond and was very clear in his communication.
It was a very straightforward process - I had to send some evidence of purchase, evidence of lock used, police report and a couple of photos.
