Emanuel's daily emails and website is really helpful as I continue learning German independently, notably due to the introduction of new vocabulary, the concise and integrable grammar lessons, and the exposure to accessible, conversational German.

Best site for German learning I‘ve found—I’ve gotten from A2 to B2 with this blog alone. Grammar and vocabulary are explained in a clear, memorable, and funny way, and you learn not only how to speak and read German but also the WHY behind everything, be it a particularly strange prefix verb, etymological connections, or the formation of the passive. It’s not just theory, though—practical vocabulary and grammar instruction is also abundant. My German acquaintances are amazed at how far I‘ve come in just a few years, and so am I.
You can access two posts a week for free, but I bought the lifetime subscription to the content (cheaper than two years of Duolingo, by the way, and much better for learning, at least in my experience), and it‘s one of the best investments I‘ve ever made to further my learning.
The blog is amazing, of course—there‘s over a decade of weekly content out there, covering most of the words and grammatical topics I have questions about. There‘s also a dictionary with examples (a little smaller than I might like, but still an excellent resource, especially for browsing by verb root and seeing all the prefix versions). There are also AI tools like a bot that will check your German sentences and one that will write a story in German with an English translation and even read it out loud to you so you can practice listening comprehension. And for any random questions, comments are easy to post and generally answered within a day or two by Emanuel.
One of the very few downsides I have found is the occasional curse word in a lesson. For many people, I suppose that kind of language is part what they want to learn how to use in context to be able to speak authentically, so is a benefit. I generally like to avoid encountering curse words, but I find that even for me, they are few and far enough between to not be terribly bothered, and the lesson content keeps me coming back.
In short: best German website. Solid gold.

An outstandthing plethora of resources available here that explain previously difficult concepts in an engaging and understandable way for the layman. A gold-mine of vocabulary with to-the-point translations for many words: particularly prefix verbs that wouldn't be found as well

Your Daily German is a great resource for understanding German grammar and practicing reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The grammar explanations are entertaining, as well as clear and helpful. He also has a way to give you clear feedback on pronunciation.

Fascinating, inquisitive, funny. The best German blog out there. It's a pleasure to read and discover new aspects of the German language, analysing how intricacies and word connections evolve.

Phenomenal site, after years of on-and-off learning I finally found this site that truly made me love German and begin not only understanding but actually appreciating the nuances. Well done, not sure I've ever gotten such insightful and logical language instruction as here, in any language, actually, let alone German. Kudos and super highly recommended! ♥️

Not only does it go deep, but it is very entertainingly written. I recommend articles regularly to others I know who are interested in learning German.

He never ceases to amaze me with his ability to explain with delightful humor, in both German and English, and to supply the most interesting and accurate reasons for why German is the way it is.

Emmanuel does an amazing job of breaking down some of the more confusing words and prefixes in such a way that actually makes sense. He mixes in just the right amount of humor to keep it interesting. He takes what can be a very dry subject and makes it fun. I found myself coming back time and time again so I finally bought a membership to support his work.

Your Daily German is my go-to site for German etymology. Then I discovered that there's even more to the site than interesting articles that build my vocabulary. There are German lessons with funny and memorable examples - all with super clear audio recording. There are also quizzes and AI-driven feedback - maybe it's silly how motivating seeing the words in green are - like, yay! the AI-bot understood me! But so far, this is my favourite way to practice German pronunciation.

I stumbled upon yourdailygerman when trying to find out more about things that were not fully explained by Duolingo. Soon I was visiting so often that I decided to pay for lifetime access. What I like most is the combination of lots of helpful topics and insights (into English as well as German) with a great sense of humour. Altogether very helpful and enjoyable.
