Love the idea of recycling but…

Love the idea of recycling, wasn’t so bothered about the pennies I could earn. Therefore, spent an hour scanning in barcodes of 117 DVDs, only to be told, having created the necessary account that I needed £5 worth of items to be eligible! I don’t have 500 dvds to recycle Zapper- why on earth couldn’t you put this information CLEARLY on the page where clients begin scanning in items??? This experience has deterred me from using Zapper again.

Not bad could do with improvements

This service is very good and also a great idea. However with minimum shipments of £5 and a maximum weight of 45kg if you’re trying to get rid of some books you may not be possible for you to even get a shipment complete. Also having to put an extra insert in every box you do feels like a waste of paper, we are trying to recycle and reuse after all.

I tried several different book buying…

I tried several different book buying apps. Zapper was certainly the easiest and most rewarding! I was worried they wouldn’t pay the amount they had said… thinking maybe the books were not quite perfect etc. I got exactly what they said. No charge for sending them and plenty of pick up areas/shops etc.
I will definitely be using them again!

No Label Sent No Reply From Support

Put through on the site fine. Been waiting for 5 days for a shipping label and arranged for Hermes to pick it up today but they can't take it due to the missing shipping label. I did send a message on the day of putting it through to say no label has arrived and checked my junk and everything but no reply and still no label. Looking into alternative sites as this is a waste of time and wasted the Hermes delivery driver's time too.

Even worse than last time

This is the second one star review I have left, Zapper said one of my books was not in the box, it 100% was, I put this in my last review but they just quoted T&C's and didn't mention this. Zapper are a dishonest company who will steal your books and sell them and then tell you the books aren't in the right condition or they were missing. I want Zapper to reply to me about trade number: 355846-7824617 and I want a proper explanation and I want paying for the book. I do however think I will get a bog standard reply and I will not get paid as they will again just quote T&C's to me.
You have been warned!

Hello Jonathan,

Customer Support have explained to you that we do not sell items which are classed as being in poor condition, they are recycled as they will not re-sell. It is not in our interests to reject any item which could re-sell as we have already invested in paying for your items to be sent to us. We make a loss on every item which is rejected and therefore it is not done lightly.

We cannot pay for items which are in poor condition or missing.

A waste of time, still have the box

At first I thought that this was a brilliant way to ensure my media was recycled, I wasn’t really bothered about making money. I used the zapper app which was great and easy to use, found the right size box and packed it all away carefully. It was easy to print off the label and convenient that they come to pick it up, I was very hopeful. However, that’s where the flaw is. I booked a day and waited for Hermes to pick up the box, you don’t get any sort of notification as to when. They did not come. I contacted zapper and they said they would arrange a collection. They came a day later, hooray, so I thought. The Hermes driver saw the box and then said he did not have room in his car and would come back later that day and we could leave it outside if we wanted. Should not have trusted him as he did not come back. I contacted Zapper to explain situation and they said another collection would be arranged. But again waited day after day and I still have the box! Contacted Zapper again and this time I have had no response. I have therefore admitted defeat and this box of cds, dvds, games and books will be going to tip. What I don’t understand is why Hermes refused to collect it, do they not get paid to do it?

Still awaiting response from customer…

Still awaiting response from customer services regarding a further shipping label and they were meant to arrange collection from my house on 01 feb 2022 - and the boxes are still here!!!!
What on Earth is going on zapper - have send two online contact requests and an email to support!!!!!

Rubbish. Not a customer focused company

Please avoid sending anything to this ridiculous company. The legal advice I have sought told me these Music Magpie/We buy books wannabies will soon come very unstuck. They will steal your belongings and use the corporate trick of saying, "ít was in our small print." My advice - go elsewhere with your unwanted CDs. There are far better deals to be found by more honest businesses. Zapper won't be around this time next year, trust me.

As explained to you by Customer Services, your items were not in a good enough condition to re-sell and were therefore rejected and recycled. We have explained that we cannot pay for items which do not meet our minimum condition criteria.

Excellent company - lousy response to queries

I have used Zapper for some time selling books, CDs etc. no,problems at all.

I needed help with my latest trade - query with labels - so emailed you. No response.

I then used the form on your site. No response.
Tried again. No response

I noted my trade which I dropped off at a Hermes store a week ago is marked as Waiting.

I put in my trade reference 113375-7844797 and you say it is invalid though I copied and pasted from your email

I am here as I am not sure how else I can deal with this. So far I have had excellent service from you.

So what is happening?

Doesn't accept all books!

I've been trying to sell some children's books on this site only to be told 'We are not currently accepting this item.' As I was on Recycle Mode, surely I should have been offered 1p for these 8 books out of 20 that I tried to sell???

No communication whatsoever

No communication whatsoever. If I get paid I will update my rating but I am expecting not to be, despite all books being in top condition. I suppose it was easier than taking to a charity shop, but that is all.

Oh - and I have contacted customer services, but you’ve replied here rather than to my direct question….

Stay away from these scammers

Stay away from these scammers! I sent books in excelente condition and after almost a month got an email saying that some of the books (the most expensive ones) were in a poor condition, absolutely that wasn’t truth, and of course they are unable to send back those “poor condition” books, couldn’t even give me a proof for it. Really disappointed, I got almost nothing for the bunch of books that I sent to them. I guess that’s how they make money, taking advantage of their customers. Shame on them
