Fantastic service from beginning to end
Fantastic service from beginning to end. It was so easy to use the app to scan items and then once ready to complete the trade to download the labels. Filled 2 boxes with books, dropped off for collection & once they were received by Zapper & checked payment was received apx 10 days later. I also love the idea that no book is rejected and is either recycled or redistributed. I will definitely use Zapper again 🙂

Not really worth the hassle
Thought I'd try using Zapper rather than taking books to a charity shop (in foldable crates I have at home) via a taxi, probably costing me c£8.
Punched in barcodes to 45 books. 2 were "not currently being accepted" (they were textbooks, so not sure what the issue was but I had thought Zapper advertised as never refusing... disappointing). £7 odd for 43 books. Not great but better than a slap in the face. Labels easy to print etc. However, on realsing I would have to supply the boxes to send them in, I am sure I will be at least £8 down IF I get the quoted value. On top of that Hermes did not turn up to collect. I was at home all afternoon at my desk beside the window and noone turned up, yet it says they "attempted to collect but it looked like the item had already been picked up". I lugged them to a local (luckily) pick up point as I couldnt be bothered unpacking but it wasn't really worth the hassle. All that, and I'll be no better off (possibly worse) than just donating them to a charity shop. I'll just do that next time. It wasn't about money in any case, I just thoughta few quid would have been a bonus, but it would seem not.

We would not expect our traders to buy boxes to send their items to us. Local shops are always keen to give you their discarded boxes as they have to pay to recycle them.

Easy to use and get rid of unwanted items without having to throw them away especially as they take far more than any of the others, even if you don't get much it is nice to be able to pass them of.

Frustrating!
Spent AGES neatly packing a large box of books to send to Zapper, only to see a message that the value of my books was less than their £5 minimum required value. I was under the impression that they recycled books for 1p too, but there are clearly some strings attached. Cheesed off that my time has been wasted when they could have stated the information on their minimum required value upfront. Just a simple message on the first page would be more than enough. Disappointing as I now have to try and find another way of selling the books and that is not easy for me as I do not have transport readily available to me as I live in a rural area and do not have a good network of friends who can assist!

They are liars
They are liars, who will not pay you the full amount you should be owed. Very disappointed in their terrible service and they will state that the books were in 'poor condition'.....our books were not

We realise that it can be very disappointing to have items rejected which you considered to be in good condition.
All items are subject to a quality inspection on arrival at our warehouse, this is completed by a team of expert graders who deal with many hundreds of items each day. Trade prices are offered on condition that the item is in very good to good condition. Condition is very subjective but we are looking to see if an item is in a good enough condition to re-sell. If it will not re-sell it is rejected and recycled.
We do not keep rejected items, they are sent to be recycled. Common reasons for poor condition can be water damage, damp pages from being stored on windowsills or writing inside textbooks.
It is not in our interests to reject any item which could re-sell as we have already invested in paying for your items to be sent to us. We make a loss on every item which is rejected and therefore it is not done lightly.
We would refer you to the Condition Guidelines on the website for further details.

Quoted £20 at tradein- only given £7
Given £20 worth of books (worth much more than this) - reduced this down to £7 when received and claimed they were damaged. Books were all in mint condition, disappointing dishonest and untrustworthy.
They just quoted t&cs stating they're generically damaged - wish I never bothered and gave them to a charity shop.

Of the 19 items traded, none were classed as damaged, 10 were classed as poor condition and would not re-sell. We would encourage all traders to read the Condition Guidelines on the website before trading to avoid confusion over the acceptance of items.

Time wasting
Like the last reviewer, I too was more interested in recycling than earning cash. I manually keyed in over a hundred dvd bar codes only to be told at the next step that we need a minimum of £5 (500 eligible dvds) to continue.
Tell us at the beginning rather than waste our time and effort when I have better things to be doing.
You're having a laugh at our expense.
PS. Zapper, regarding your reply, I have never contacted Customer Services so I think you confuse me with someone else!!

As explained to you when you contacted customer services, we are a trading site and look to re-sell the items, we recycle items for customers trading items. We are not a recycling site just for recycled items.

Efficient Process / Service
Scan function worked well. The vast majority of my books were found on your database. The estimate for the number of boxes needed worked (just). Weight was almost an issue for on one box. Payment was received promptly via PayPal
