Unfortunately I have had to make two claims in the last 12 months but on each occasion they have been dealt with quickly and efficiently. Would highly recommend this company.

Quite simply this is an insurance company that is keen to make as much money from their customers as possible. The only positive is that they have the video vet service included in the plan.
As an anxious pet owner I have only ever followed veterinary advice (and have done so to the letter). However they will scrutinise your vet notes for *any* sign that they can reject a claim.
When my beloved cat died they rejected a £3000 claim on the grounds of it being a ‘pre-existing condition’ even though it was simply impacting the same organ (the bladder) that had been cause of a vet visit 10 years prior (and my own vet said you could not reasonably link the two). The stress of dealing with the company on top of losing my cat was unbearable.
I now feel trapped as my other cat has a life policy with 4Paws. The yearly rate has gone up exponentially despite having never made a claim - the rate has gone from just under £20 a month to nearly £70. I am now needing to make a claim (pre-authorisation) and they are querying me and my vet at every stage. My vet said that they have not experienced an insurance company like it.
At a time when you are at your most vulnerable they cause undue stress and anxiety. I would not recommend that anyone start a policy with 4Paws.

So far so good
Sorted claim out promptly without too stress. As a new pet owner, I find the first vet video call service particularly useful.

Lovey team at 4Paws! Super efficient, getting the job done faster than I could wish for! Thank you for all you’ve done for me :)

Prices naturally get higher but I think they are relying on people not checking. Renewal more expensive than a new policy holder!

I was not confused as I realised that you would take the £150 and then the 30% excess off of the claim but I was told you weren`t going to pay for the calming tablets I bought for Nico for the firework period, of course you weren`t and I told you that I paid for them separately, so they definitely weren`t claimed for, the vet doesn`t understand the problem with the claim and why the amount we paid for Nicos` biopsy and for the operation don`t match the amounts you quote, maybe you don`t pay for the painkillers he was given on discharge ?? but there was a difference of at least £30, which might not be much to you but it is to your customers especially as our first renewal went up considerably. This is the first time we have ever claimed, in fact on any insurance and I think we would have been better off opening a savings account for unforeseen incidents like this.

I've been with them for 7 years and the first claim I opened after all this period they just rejected not to mention long and tedious process if me providing them with all the paperwork and endless correspondence with them. Now I found a lot of much cheaper per insurances.

Any company can sell you a product you need but the real test comes when you need to make a claim. 4 paws are hands down the absolute best brokers I’ve ever had to deal with. From the initial claim to settling they have kept me up to date and informed with text, email and phone calls. It’s hard enough having a poorly pet, with the financial worry and stress of dealing with insurance. Genuinely the kindest, reassuring and most understanding agents. Highly recommend!

I really haven't been happy with the way renewal has been handled or the attention to detail surrounding communication with this company.
I insured my younger dog with them last year. Reading reviews then, they seemed OK and the premium for the cover offered was competitive. Renewal time came round last week and I found the increase in price I was offered was steep: my dog has turned 4 and I have never made a claim for him. They wanted it roughly £15 a month more for next year at £42 a month. I ran the details through a few price comparision sites and, sure enough, there were many cheaper including lots with comparable levels of cover. Also, for new customers, 4Paws itself was offering a premium of £32 for the same level of cover. I emailed them and offered the chance to negotiate on price based on what I had found. It's the usual thing to do with most forms of insurance. I got a boiler-plate reply a few days later telling me about rising vet costs, continuation of cover and my pet's age. Now, this isn't my first rodeo. I've insured my pets for over 16 years. He's not my first dog. My older dog is currently insured somewhere else and I've had to make a few big claims for him, including 2 this year related to cancer treatment, so I am *really* aware thank you of the rising costs of veterinary treatment and diagnosis. My older dog's premiums went up this year with the sort of increase I would expect given his age and other circumstances.
Anyway, I replied back with words to this effect and then got the following: 'The reason for this is whilst what it can cover in a monetary sense may be like for like, the current policy is now associated with XXX's medical records from 30/11/2024, meaning what the policy can actually cover is not like for like."
Why is it associated with his medical records? I've never made a claim. This sounds like fobbing off to me. I've had many animals I've insured and never encountered this as justification.
Still not satisfied that this justified such a large price increase, I have asked not to renew and have gone to my other dog's insurer, LV, who are not the cheapest but offer a great range of cover (I have read the small print, I always do) but I know will pay out and I know won't extort me come insurance renewal time so will be good for professional lifetime cover.
Oh, and do be careful if your email account uses two addresses because apparently this is a huge problem for them in terms of data protection.

After being with 4Paws for over six years, we have not renewed based on high rising renewals and the policy conditions. Our dog was given medication three months prior to the renewal (which I took through the policy) and was unable to renew the policy as it went from £90 to £140 a month. I informed 4Paws when I got a renewal price that I couldn’t renew as the renewal price was getting out of hand (£140 a month!) and was then told that I would need to pay for the medication that was left over beyond the policy ending! I was informed that I couldn’t return the medication left and was charged £2 a tablet plus fees. So it felt like a case of renew or pay up. I spoke to the vet that we are with and they stated that they have never heard of this situation from an insurer and even spoke to 4Paws with no luck. I will never be going back to 4Paws and advise others to be aware and read the policy thoroughly.

4Paws have been incredibly helpful at every stage of the claim: always patient to explain process, always demonstrating empathy and compassion and helping to solve any problems at any point.

Réponse de 4Paws Pet Insurance
Never claimed but premiums were low till renewal, even with no prior conditions and a new policy quote inflated the price. Went elsewhere for same cover half the price,
Sales were awful so pushy kept telling me if I left them my cat would probably get ill during the new policy 14 day no claim window. Sickening experience to be even saying things like that to get a sale or keep customers.

I have been with 4 paws for several years now, and I am honestly starting to feel trapped within the scheme. I've had no issues with payout, however my price plan seems to increase by £100 yearly, despite the claim being the same each year. Last year they said it was due to how much I had claimed, however I have since claimed the same, and it has risen again. Unfortunately with this, it's hard to move as a new insurance company might not cover your pet if they have a pre existing condition. I would proceed with caution.

My claim for our spaniels ear infection has just been settled at around £1,000 - took a little time to get there, but thank you.
She's just 7y/o and we've had this policy from the start with (I'm pretty sure) no other claims (so have paid in a good few thousands).
I have just received next years renewal invitation and the premium has gone up from £43 to £79 per month. The 'usual' increase is £10 or less, so almost 100% - for making a claim? Really?
It's a lifetime plan, so I'm pretty much locked in, just beware when you're shopping around folks.

DONOT TO USE THEM
*update: this is the level of dishonest at this company, they requested I remove this review as they said it might be for a wrong company. IT’S THE SAME WEBSITE!
I purchased a 1-year policy with 4Paws in May, paying in full specifically to earn Avios points. Three months later, they falsely claimed I hadn’t clicked the bonus grant correctly - la ridiculous assertion since it’s literally a single button! When I followed up in October, their response was threatening: they said they would cancel my entire policy if they didn’t hear from me within two days. I replied promptly, restating the issue, and three days later they cancelled my full year of insurance without any further communication.
This is completely unacceptable customer service. A company that handles claims and loyalty bonuses this poorly cannot be trusted. I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.

Never claimed on any pet insurance. Today I just wanted to check my 4 Paws payment policy. It’s been over 20 mins wait and no one’s there. Get a company that are there working not just taking money.
