Scammers

They wait for you to top up your account and then recover their cashback and close your account. These are just a bunch of clowns

I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our decision to close your account. From time to time, we review all accounts to ensure that we're complying with our regulatory obligations as well as our internal policies.

With regard to cashback, this was detailed in both the account and cashback T&Cs. Rest assured that whether or not the account contains any funds is not a considered factor when making the decision to close an account.

THIEVES

THIEVES - AVOID ALGBRA. NOT TRUSTWORTHY.

I've been using Algbra for the best part of 3 years now. Even though there were better banks like Monzo or Starling out there I supported ALGBRA because they were a Shariah compliant and ethical company. I earned over £119 in rewards during their introductory opening offer which ended last year.

I did read some terrible reviews on trust pilot but continued to support them thinking that they are a startup company and these are just teething issues.

Suddenly out of the blue my card stopped working and like others on this site my account was closed without being given a decent explanation.

On top of that i am calling them THIEVES because they have deducted the £119 I earned over the last 2 years from my balance.

My account had no money left. They had no problems allowing me to top £360 before closing my account and stealing £119 claiming terms and conditions....

Closing my account was one thing but stealing money that i had just put in to the account is just disgusting.

Why did they wait for me to top up with money before they closed my account.

They couldn't have stopped me from topping up but NO.... THEY WAITED FOR ME TO PUT MONEY INTO THE ACCOUNT SO THEY COULD STEAL £119 CLAIMING T's AND C's

To clarify, from time to time, we review all accounts to ensure that we're complying with our regulatory obligations as well as our internal policies. If the decision is made to close your account, we'll either give you two months notice, or in some cases, we may need to immediately close your account.

There is no scenario in which we would wait for an account to be topped up before closing it. In fact, I can see that your account was closed over 6 days after it was last topped up.

We're not always able to tell you why your account was closed, but please be assured that there is always a reason and we do not take those decisions lightly.

I had Algebra bank account in the past…

I had Algebra bank account in the past and for some reason it was closed, and l have to contact the customer service and support team to get my account documents quickly to submit to an authorised body and the team were very helpful and understanding and I've got what I want directly, smoothly and quickly thank you all.

I had my algbra account for 2 years I’m a hard worker and never had any problem with them. But recently they frozen my app coz they was suspected something and they literally email me to proof my wage income when they could see it was coming from payroll company. They ask me to proof where this money is coming from and send them payslips and proof of the income and after all that they decide to close this is literally so unfair I work hard and I’ve always got paid as normal so why just now they was asking to prove it? Honestly u guy have to see that because is not fair i got bills and stuffs to pay. I’m not happy with this and I won’t let it go like that

Avoid Algbra at all costs!

I received my tax refund from HMRC, which was the largest deposit I’ve had in my account, and immediately after, Algbra closed my account without warning. Since then, I have been chasing them for my own money, and they have completely ignored my attempts to return my own money that the government sent me!

This has caused me major financial stress, as I have urgent commitments, including rent, yet they are holding onto my funds with no explanation. After checking Trustpilot, I see I’m not the only one—this seems to be a pattern with them.

I will be escalating this to the FCA, the Financial Ombudsman, and taking further action today if my money is not returned immediately. If you’re considering banking with Algbra, think twice before trusting them with your hard-earned money!

They closed my account for no reason

I've had an Algbra account for 2 years now and suddenly today they have closed my account with no notice and citing some regulatory obligations nonsense in an email. Card has been deactivated and they have logged me out of the app. Born and lived in the UK all my life, have a UK passport, no bad debt, and an excellent credit rating. Absolutely no idea why they have decided to close my account. This is the first time this has ever happened with any bank. I hope they don't take long to forward my monies on. They don't appear to reply to emails.

Great Customer Support

Whenever I have a concern, I always contact support and immediately receive a quick response. Allen has always been extremely helpful and quickly looked into my concerns regarding payments I was initially confused about.
