This seems a lot like a scam to me
This seems a lot like a scam to me. Beware.
Update since Benchmark have queried this. Benchmark have sent me eight emails in the recent weeks, as well as two letters. Seven of the emails come from Charlotte Kidd, and one from Stephen James.
All of the emails have a false company name which is not mine. They constantly ask for meetings with their 'director', and claim that I recently spoke with them. I have never spoken with them, nor given my address or email. They seem to have made up their own business name for me, too.
They claim they have buyers interested in my 'technology news', and won't stop spamming me. Their unsubscribe link is faulty and seems to do nothing at all.

When I first decided to sell my business...
When I first decided to sell my business I was approached by several companies, but Benchmark stood out to have every area covered and extremely professional. It seemed like a gamble at the time, but on reflection it was the best move that I made. I'm pretty sure that without the backing and support of the team at Benchmark, the sale would not have gone through. The process of selling a business is something that I can't put into words as there is so, so much to it you will not believe it unless you have been through it. You need every bit of help and support going as its a long tedious and stressful process and Benchmark nurtured me though the process. Good service and a great result
I was slightly wary of engaging an M&A firm to support the acquisition of the business having been approached by other agencies in the past and read unfavourable reviews. The approach from Benchmark came at just the right time and initial conversations helped to alleviate my concerns.
I received excellent service from James and his team - they made the whole process as straightforward as it could ever be and took plenty of time at each stage to make sure I was comfortable with what was happening. They managed to attract a good level of interest in the business and we ended up with several decent offers, one of which was exactly the type of buyer I was hoping for.
I was pleased with the overall deal and glad that I trusted my instincts and allowed Benchmark to help me. The costs of using an M&A firm like Benchmark might initially appear high when viewed in isolation, however they achieved good results and I think represented good value.
