BIKMO Insurance – Absolutely Brilliant!

I’ve been insured with BIKMO for four years, and when my bike was recently stolen, they went above and beyond. I genuinely thought I'd only get a fraction of my bike’s worth because it was used, but to my delight, BIKMO checked the current price and provided enough for a brand-new replacement. Tom, who handled my claim, was incredibly helpful and professional every step of the way. I’ve already recommended BIKMO to all my friends – this team truly knows how to look after its customers. Five stars all the way!

They don't have a clue what they're doing.

My Ebike has stopped working over the course of several days, I can't find a obvious reason for this and as it seems to be beyond my ability to fix I contacted bikmo under the homes that they would either provide a replacement, a temporary bike for work (as I pay extra for work coverage) or cover the cost of repairs.

I received an email from Hiscox, bikmos underwriters, claiming that they do not cover electrical issues, mechanical damage, wear and tear or faults. This wording implies they do nothing for the bike. Now the meer fact that I do not know what the issue with my bike is and the fact that they can claim an electrical fault (which I'll add is not written in the not covered section) without having a mechanic look over my bike proves that they are nothing more than scammer. A mechanic couldn't tell you what was wrong from a photo so how can a completely unqualified desk Jockey?

Bikmo have been of absolutely no help at all and not even had the mere decency to support me to have a temporary bike to use for work.

Please do not use bikmo as they have no intention at all of supporting you when you need them. They're a typical stereotype of an insurance company, they'll take your money and leave you high and dry when you need them most. Thank god it wasn't something more serious like personal injury as they absolutely would screw their way out of their responsibilities and ignore you.

At Bikmo, we aim to provide comprehensive support and peace of mind to our customers. However, certain exclusions apply, including mechanical or electrical faults and issues arising from wear and tear. These exclusions are standard across most insurance policies, as such issues are considered maintenance matters rather than insurable events.

Regarding a temporary bike, the policy covers cycle hire costs only in cases of theft or accidental damage. Unfortunately, this does not extend to mechanical or electrical malfunctions

We regret that this experience has left you feeling unsupported. Your feedback is important to us, however, we have to apply policy conditions fairly and equally on all occasions based on the merits of each claim.

Smooth process and interaction with the team. After providing all the evidence the claim was processed in a few days. I got my money in my account one week after submitting the initial report. Great service! Will continue my insurance with the team

This is my favourite bicycle insurance company.

I would like to give a shout out to Bikmo bicycle insurance.

Friendly staff, eager to answer questions & help you understand the difference between bicycle insurance and regular insurance.

I did my research before choosing Bikmo, what sold it to me, was they were the simplilist & came with no smoke mirrors, or tricks up their sleeves, very reasonable and fair terms and conditions, very clearly laid out easy to understand and not trying to fool anyone with word gymnastics.

They provide a "fair handshake" straightforward, simple, clear to understand, & a fair fee towards the cost of bicycle insurance, Vs what your covered for.

I think I would recommend them. I have bicycle insurance, with the hope I will never need it but of course I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

I want to thank the Bikmo team for a swift and positive resolution of my claim as I was left frustrated for the theft of my electric bike, the team was so proactive and once they got all the right documents and information, they approved it in no time and I was please with they service, highly recommended it, a very professional and serious insurance company.

I had to make a claim after my bike was…

I had to make a claim after my bike was stolen. Bikmo were slow to process it and could not give me a reason for the delay. I spent many hours over the course of over a week contacting them to ascertain what was happening. They then passed my claim onto a Loss Adjusters who took over the 3 working days I was told it would take them to contact me. I was then told I had to wait for over a week before they could conduct an interview with me. Because of the delay I had already incurred and because I was vocal, they were able to have an interview with me within 5 days. Ultimately my claim was unsuccessful. I challenged it and it wasn’t declined again on grounds which I do not think are reasonable.
I found the Bikmo staff friendly and understanding but all together I spent hours in my working day finding out what was happening. I felt there was a lack of transparency and this, alongside the severe delays, left me very anxious and frustrated. I would not recommend Bikmo. I am still waiting to hear back from an email I sent on the 15th Oct. I have been charged for the two months on my policy following my claim. I assumed this would have stopped as I had made a claim.

Satisfied Customer

Made a claim after a fall had caused damage to my fork, helmet shoes and head unit.
Once Bikmo had all the correct documents at hand then the claim was reviewed and settled to my satisfaction in the space of a week.
Very professional along with friendly communication by all staff.
Excellent service.

Excellent customer service

Unfortunately I had to make a claim. I contacted by telephone first where the customer service was excellent, fully explaining what I needed to fo. The claim form was straightforward and acknowledged within a day. After I provided further information as requested the claim was promptly agreed, all within 2 weeks. I was kept up to date throughout. 5 star customer service, would definitely recommend.

Did not cancel my policy after confirmation they would

I cancelled my policy with Bikmo as I was no longer cycling to work. Contacted them, confirmed my info and was told it would end 30 days later due to cancelling it mid term, fine. When checking my bank today, I found they have taken a further payment and in fact, my policy has not been cancelled when I logged into my Bikmo account. Absolutely shocking and incompetent company clearly! Have sent them an email plus I’ll be calling tomorrow for a refund and demand my policy is cancelled.

Very disappointed so far

Sadly I’ve been very frustrated with Bikmo. Opened a claim over 2 weeks ago, I’ve had one minimal email response from Jonny but otherwise silence. No sign of any reimbursement.

The claim process is also bad, it forced me to answer multiple irrelevant questions about situations I was not claiming for (just a bike repair).

Posting this review to see if it jogs Bikmo into a response.

**Critical Review of Bikmo and Hiscox …

**Critical Review of Hiscox and Bikmo Bicycle Insurance Services:**

I insured my mountain bike with Bikmo and Hiscox, but my experience with their services has been extremely disappointing. In May, my bike was stolen from my building's bike room. It was secured with a Bikmo-approved lock and chain, but the thief managed to either pick the lock or use an angle grinder to cut through the bike, leaving the lock intact. I reported the theft to the police immediately and also informed Bikmo/Hiscox.

Despite following all the required procedures, my claim was rejected. The police informed me that thefts like this are common and that the bike could have been sold for parts. The third-party investigator from Crawfords asked me irrelevant questions, like why I didn't ask all my neighbors if they saw anything. It's ridiculous to expect customers to act like detectives in such situations. I had already done everything I was supposed to do—using an approved lock, reporting the theft to the police, and filing the claim promptly.

The insurers denied my claim, stating they couldn't prove I locked the bike properly. How am I supposed to prove that? Should I have taken photos every time I locked my bike? After my claim was rejected in July, I filed a complaint, but it took them until September to respond, and they didn't uphold my complaint.

I've continued to pay for their so-called insurance service, but I’ve lost both the cost of my bike and the premiums I've paid. Now I'm left with an intact approved lock but no bike and a complete distrust of bike insurance companies. The whole process was lengthy, frustrating, and ultimately pointless.

When you first buy the policy, everything seems smooth, but if you’re unlucky enough to need to file a claim, you’re in for a lengthy and painful process, only to end up with no coverage. Moreover, even though you buy your insurance from Bikmo, you end up dealing with Hiscox and Crawfords, repeatedly sending the same information, pictures, and receipts. This kind of customer service is unacceptable.

I strongly advise against purchasing bike insurance from Bikmo or Hiscox, and I would stay away from any services involving Crawfords. They make the claims process unnecessarily complicated and ultimately do not provide the coverage they promise.

Perfect experience Claim payed

After our bike got stolen under our eyes, we claimed to bikmo. As long you are able to provide all the details and receipts you have, the process is definitely smooth!
They had a quite long backlog this summer, so it too in total a month, from the claim request to payout.
