Byway Avis 

A fascinating trip to Ravenna put together by Byway, with half a day in Milan on the way back. Our initial train to Paris was delayed so we missed the connection to Basel, and the Byway staff immediately organised a different itinerary for us.

Used Byway on the recommendation of a friend, and would do so again. Process was easy, liked being able to choose the hotels from a suggested list. When there were problems in delayed trains the UK team were quick to support.

This is our sixth trip with Byways. Just love the freedom of seemless train travel tailored just for us . Our trip was to the Swiss/Italian lakes , beautiful scenery along the way as well as at our destinations, fabulous hotels and great tips for while we were there . We had to change a train last minute and Byways came back within minutes to do this for us. The only problem was the holiday wasn’t long enough ! We’ll be booking again , thanks Byways !

Our 2nd Byways journey and really they can’t be faulted. Excellent communication when discussing and planing route. We visited Innsbruk,Saltzburg,ViennaCologne and Aarchan in 12 days. All had their own different cultures and contrast made the holiday very enjoyable. All hotels great but Innsbruk Weiss Kreuz and Vienna Motto were exceptional. Coming home we had problems with Eurostar but Byways sorted it immediately and rebooked our journey home to Rugby after I contacted them with WhatsApp. I must add that I used the inter rail app this time and after attending the workshop felt more confident. It is much easier to use when you are travelling and if I can do it (at 78 years old) anyone can!! Thankyou Byways for another happy memory made from our adventure

A pleasant unfussy way to plan a trip

The whole holiday was well organised from start to finish. The trains were well connected, and when we had a mishap and missed a train I rang the Emergency Helpline and Byway were efficient and patient in organising another reservation for us. As a grandmother travelling with her teenage granddaughter, this was invaluable. The hotels were varied, some higher grades than others, but they were all excellent. We even given an upgrade in the 5* hotel. The staff in all of the hotels were friendly and helpful and as requested, our hotels were, where possible, within walking distance from the stations. I would most certainly holiday with Byway Travel in the future and would recommend unreservedly.

We were travelling during the recent heatwave, and one of our trains was cancelled, the subsequent one delayed. The live support team were splendid, had our onward journey organised and rebooked, complete with an unexpected hotel stay, and have furthermore refunded to us the cost of the taxis we were also obliged to use.
I should say that none of this was a surprise - this is our third trip with Byway. They are good about building in comfortable times for transfer, and very patient as our plans evolve.

The details of complex itineraries are clear and easy to follow. The support and response to queries is excellent and the staff are all very friendly. The zoom workshop explaining how to use the App is extremely helpful and led very well.

Well organised, fantastic customer support throughout trip, good suggestions for routes and hotels but will make something bespoke if required. Takes all the stress out of complex travel arrangements and would 100% recommend.

Byway are excellent - they do all the bookings and work so you can watch the world go by from your train seat. Always super helpful and great holidays where getting there is part of the fun. Highly recommended and by far the best way to travel - flying is no fun anymore and if you drive one person has to watch the road. Byway are superb travel specialists.

This was our first time travelling with Byway and using a Eurorail pass. Byway were absolutely superb from start to finish. Our trip was from Cardiff to Stockholm and back by train, using a sleeper from Hamburg to Stockholm. The planning and journey guide were excellent but Byway came into their own when things went awry such as a cancelled DB train in Köln. The WhatsApp support was invaluable.
We had an amazing trip and knowing they were there to help if needed, gave us a quiet confidence.
We were trying interrailing for the first time and it won’t be the last. Thanks for doing a fantastic job Byway team!

Byway Travel are super stars. Thorough, efficient planning before our trip, unobtrusive but quietly supportive during the journey while we enjoyed ourselves, but they really stepped up when we needed them. Eurostar cancelled our train home but Byway support were there for us - arranged a new train, found a hotel for the night, they sorted everything while always staying positive, courteous and friendly. So easy to deal with. Would we recommend? Definitely yes. Will we go again with Byway? Absolutely.

Byway organised our recent trip to Vilnius in Lithuania, Riga in Latvia and Tallinn in Estonia, with an additional couple of nights in Helsinki. As usual for us this wasn't an off the peg itinerary but one which we planned with enthusiastic help (from Beau).
Outbound to Vilnius we travelled via Amsterdam, Osnabruck, Kiel and the overnight ferry to Klaipeda in Lithuania; coming back we took another overnight ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm then back via Malmo, across Denmark back to Osnabruck and Amsterdam. Within the Baltic states we used the local trains, though we gather coaches might have been faster, then took the busy short ferry crossing to Helsinki.
We enjoyed the Baltic capitals: different from one another, but all modernising fast, all with lots to see, with very different languages but English everywhere widely spoken. It was particularly good to go in midsummer when the days are long.
One or two hiccups apart, the team were very good at the planning stage, accommodating our changing requests. The Journey Guide was excellent. There were quite complex travel arrangements, and for a couple of legs of the journey the team provided back up reservations in case DB let us down badly; but it all worked. The accommodation was as ever a mix of classes and styles but always interesting.
This was our sixth Byway holiday. That speaks for itself.

What a wonderful holiday we have had organised by Byway. From the first enquiry through to support on our trip when we needed it, the team has always responded quickly and efficiently. Our trip was through five countries with six stops and over 2500 miles travelled. The Bergen to Oslo line with a side trip down to Flam was amazing and a high light.
The hotels were all within walking distance from the station and of a high standard. We really enjoyed the ferry crossings in our deluxe cabins.
Our journey home was on 28 June one of the hottest days in Europe with trains slowing down due to the heat. The team at Byway made last minute changes to our itinerary to ensure that we arrived home with minimal delay. I will certainly be booking a rail holiday with them again, no hassle with driving and navigation or deciding upon accommodation. So a relaxing adventure was ensured!

I’ve never liked travelling, but until Elon Musk develops a teleporter, we will have to travel to visit other places. I hadn’t had a proper holiday in years so was determined to take one this year, early if possible. I kept putting it off until May when I thought it will be now or never.

I wanted to visit Porto for personal reasons, but with uncertainty about air travel due to the situation in the Gulf, I looked in the first instance to trains. I found Byway without much searching and said I wanted to go ASAP. Normally, this company plans trips months ahead but somehow they accommodated me for the first week in June. I would travel outwards June 1 stopping overnight in Paris, 2 nights in Barcelona, 1 in Madrid, and 3 in Porto then fly back.

They fixed me up with four amazing hotels, including a ninth floor suite in Madrid, and sorted out my queries about e-tickets including en route.

My only regret is that I didn’t book another day in Paris and another in Madrid. For health reasons I prefer to travel late in the day; it can take a while to get my ancient back moving. I would have liked especially to have spent a full day in Paris to revisit the sights I saw in 1992, in particular the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. This time I had to settle for the July Column in the Place de la Bastille.

I’ve been to Spain before but not Madrid and had to settle for admiring the quite fantastic buildings around my hotel.

My passport runs out this year, and next year, if I am still alive and kicking, I would like to visit Ireland, in particular Dublin, so if I do, I will use Byway again.

We are very happy with our experience with ByWay. Not only was booking our journey easy, they also informed us two days prior to an issue caused by the rail strikes - they recommended a solution and booked our new tickets. We highly recommend them and will use them for any future journey.

First time with Byway. Adapted trip to suit my preferences, very flexible in planning. Sorted all travel and hotels ( which were great) and the support function via what’s app really impressed me. Travelling by train gives you real sense of the countries you pass through. A proper adventure. Yes there’s some queuing but you get that with planes! Will certainly use Byway again. 5 stars

This is the second year I have used Byways they are ace. Friendly, helpful and knowlegable. They provide a perfect rail holiday. Giving you all the freedom of feeling that you are on your own, you are, with the constant back up of their great travel app. Great!
