Charity shop ?
Went to donate a lot of new clothes to the cancer research shop in Westwood cross and they refused to take them.
Southsea team is the best
I regularly take donations to the Southsea shop in Portsmouth and cannot speak too highly of the team there. Debbie and Tracy are always welcoming and helpful. The shop is spotless and a joy to shop in. This is a little gem amongst lots of other charity shops in the area and this is down to Debbie Tracy and the volunteers!
Guys and gals
Guys and gals, you do realise you are leaving integrity marks on the basis of your shopping experience and not the function of the organisation right?
Raised £335. What did you do?
Isle of Sheppey CRUK superstore needs to do better
Isle of Sheppey ‘superstore’ seems to be very picky with the donations they accept (appreciating they can’t take everything but at least take a look). Store looks more like a branch of the Range or similar rather than a shop packed with items to sell to raise money. With the exception of the person on the main till the rest of the staff really could not be bothered. I think CRUK has lost sight of what they are there for - unless it’s a shiny new object or large financial donation they seem uninterested. I am reconsidering my monthly donation which has been in place for 25 years and also doubt I will donate to another CRUK store.
WAKE UP PEOPLE AND EDUCATE YOUR SELF!!
I went into the Golders Green shop. Prices are extortionate.
This is a business, as you can see most of the people who have written on this platform are complaining about prices.
This is not a charity. All the money goes to the CEO, who actually earns more than the prime minister! They stay in fancy hotels and fly first class. How else are they funding their salaries.
Stop fooling yourself and think the items that you donate go to good causes because they don’t….!
I’d say give your money to MacMillan instead, those conscientious nurses do great work for the unfortunates who need the palliative care.
Rude staff
Dropped off expensive donations to Greenbridge, Swindon. A lot of Yankee candles, silver jewellery and 2 brand new dinner services, clothes with tags. My partner and I was touched by cancer last year, just wanted to give back. Rude staff and not once a thank you. Won't be donating there again. Prospect take your name and let you know how much your donation made. Going there next time.
The staff in there are terrible I…
The staff in there are terrible I bought something for £3.50 and they asked me do I want to round it up to £5 people go to charity shops because therenshoft of money
Forced to sign up to there charity
I was stopped by one of there representatives trying to get me to sign up to there charity earlier in the year and I had my young baby with me and they wouldn’t take no for a answer and made me feel like I didn’t have a choice to sign up. I eventually stopped the monthly payments to them then got a call yesterday from them saying how thankful they are for my donations then the lady on the phone started to read out a script and began to fake cry on the phone whilst reading it to try to get me to start up my monthly donations again.
No cure just a swap for something as bad
So annoying to hear the stats coming out of this organisation about the reduction in cancer deaths all they are doing is changing the cause of death the chemo kills the cancer but also the immune system so all of these cancer victims become a victim of the chemo and they die instead of an immune system failure which their death certificate will record as being usually ‘pneumonia’ the current cure for cancer is merely a swap for a death from a destroyed immune system will will let all diseases take over with no immune system to fight them. These stats are false in regards for curing cancer as you can’t cure something by destroying something else what the human body relies upon. Cancer patients having chemotherapy need to be made aware that after treatment that they will die from having a lowered immune system as a rest of the treatment.

Organization with fat cat salaries
I am absolutely appalled but not entirely shocked at the amount Cancer Research UK spends on salaries..yes fat cat salaries. And these fat cat salaries are paid for from ordinary hard working people thinking their contributions are making a difference. How can an organisation play on the emotions of people to get donations in order to fill their own greedy pockets. It's shameful. I would never donate to this so called charity. As long as they are getting massive salaries I can't see their incentive to find a cure for cancer.
I will never again donate or spend any money at the harpenden store
I just had the most abysmal and unprofessional experience at the store in harpenden.
As I was making my way to the store with my donations a staff member came from behind me (not inside the shop) and proceeded to shout at me on the street that furniture and the kitchenware I had could not be accepted which could have calmly and respectfully been explained but was instead bellowed in my face.
As I turned to head back to my car she did not even apologise or acknowledge me further and just walked into the Costa next door, saying nothing further to me.
This cannot be repeated by a company that is run on generous donations.
In their defence…..
I read the previous review and felt the need to defend them. Why would the shop accept donations that they cannot sell? People feel entitled to just donate their items but charity shops have changed. So many health and safety restrictions along with things that just don’t sell that the charity then have to dispose of. I should imagine the guy in question was perfectly polite about it (even offering you somewhere else to take them) but you were already angered. Charity shops are becoming dumping grounds and it’s not fair. Give them a break.
Very rude and condescending young male member of staff or could have been Manager on an ego trip!
Today, 7.2.2025 at 10.40 am approx I visited Cancer Research shop in Redruth which I have done for many years, buying and donating as my husband sadly died of pancreatic cancer so give my support to this charity. I have to say I will never go in that shop again after having been met with disdain from young male staff member at back room door when I offered two bags of donations. He asked me what I had brought and was told they do not accept linen , I had brought a very decent king-size quilt cover,.he told me to take it to charity shop two doors away which I did and was appreciated, also taking a nearly new hair dryer/curler as he told me Cancer Research do not accept electricals. He then proceeded to toss the rest of the contents of the bags onto the counter top with no thanks which is when I left never to return ever again. He was very arrogant and rude to me which was not warranted, he needs to change his attitude towards customers and come down off his high horse - with a big bang hopefully.
Absolutely nil customer service.
I'm a regular visitor to the Cancer Research shop in Troon and have bought various things over the years.
When I visited the shop today the door was open and people were obviously either delivering or uplifting items to the stock room at the back of the shop. There was nobody on the till.
I picked 2 items, total value £5 , went round looking at the rest of the shop, got to the till and there was still nobody on it. I waited and nobody took any notice of me. The people going back and forwards to the back room.ignored me. I shouted towards the back of the shop " is anybody serving? " I was still ignored. Three times in total I shouted before a woman came through from the back of the shop, looked at me as though I was an alien and sauntered round the counter to the till. No apology , absolutely nothing. I said to her the normal response would have been an apology for keeping a customer waiting. All I got from her was that the person who should have been on the till must be outside. If her attitude hadn't been so rude and lacking in any customer service I would have got over the wait. As it was I told her to keep the items. So the charity lost a £5 sale. Plus any other sales from the visits I won't be making to the shop in the near future.
I will add usually the staff there are OK but the woman today let them and the charity down badly.
Paid first class travel hotel and…
Paid first class travel hotel and theatre tickets when money donated should be going into research also all expenses trips to Paris paid for by peoples donations con artists who need investigated !!!!!
A visit to a Cancer Research shop was…
A visit to a Cancer Research shop was met by illegal signs stating that refunds on certain items were not allowed. Illegal under the CRA. And in direct contravention of the claimed CRUK's own policies.
But it seems that managers at CRUK shops can be rude to volunteers, loudly gossip about volunteers to other volunteers in shops full of customers when said volunteers are not there to defend themselves and the same managers are abusive to shoppers. And they gossiping about other charity shops in the area.
Managers even ban loyal, long-term supporters/customers if they dare complain about the manager's actions, thus damaging the reputation of Cancer Reserarch UK.
Because CRUK don't care about abiding by the laws relating to the rights of customers and laws relating to employing volunteers and don't care about the reputation of the charity.
Next time we'll make our Giftaid donations to other charities.
CRUK, this is why you are facing a 65% negative rating on Trustpilot.
Just after 7am still dark waking us up
Putting your charity bag through our letterbox when it wasn,t even light this morning, disturbing the house and setting dogs off barking. Intruding! How rude. Won,t be donating! 7.09am!!! Yet your phone lines open 9am!!
Shambles
Went to buy a small plush unicorn for my 4 year old autistic daughter, and there were 2 different price tags on the item; one for £6.99 and another for £1.25. When the sales assistant queried this with the manager; who already held negative connotations about me from a prior incident where exactly the same thing had happened; except they’d charged me £20 for what should’ve been a £2 interactive dinosaur; resulting in them suddenly shutting the store on an “emergency” basis and thereby causing conflict between myself and random customers and also attempting to call the police on me; who obviously were not interested “the manager” who refused to give any details decided to make a massive scene in the middle of the store rather than dealing with the matter in a calm and discreet manner and tried to call the police again, falsely claiming I was being abusive etc when I’d just literally put nearly £30 in their till, would give less than 0 if I could, AVOID KIRKCALDY BRANCH AT ALL COSTS! Extremely poor customer care and service, from a nearly 25 year veteran too, apparently. Absolute disgrace.
Follow up to previous review having…
Follow up to previous review having contacted head office in Cardiff. I am talking about CRW, Cancer Research Wales.
Confirmed they reject 18 certificate DVDs, anything related to religion as well as dictionaries and atlas's, maps.
They don't want to be accused of promoting ancient beliefs and territories no longer valid or acceptable.
So where do you stop?
Romeo and Juliet for underage sex
Basically rewriting history and also committing prejudice.
