1 star – Misleading checkout, unwanted subscription, and dismissive support

I only intended to purchase a single car check, but was unknowingly signed up to a subscription.

The checkout page displays “Car Report – Special Offer £5.95” with an “ORDER NOW” button. There is no clear or prominent notice at the point of payment that this would automatically start a recurring subscription. The subscription details are not clearly explained and are easy to miss.

After being charged, I reviewed the company’s Terms & Conditions, which state that refund requests made within 14 days should be accepted. My request is within this period, so I should be entitled to a refund under their own policy.

I contacted customer support, however the initial response I received was dismissive in tone, simply stating that the terms were “clearly stated” and refusing a refund, despite many other customers reporting the same issue and some confirming they were refunded.

I am currently waiting for a further response.

This experience has caused unnecessary stress and feels like a deliberate dark-pattern checkout design rather than transparent pricing.

I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution and use a more reputable and transparent car-check provider.

Fraudulent Company

I've just been contacted by my bank about an attempted payment of £39.99 from a car checking company, claiming I subscribed to a service. I did not subscribe to anything. This company is dangerous and fraudulent!

Scammers. I paid for one car check 6 quid and was below standard didnt tell me nothing useful. Then attempted to keep charging me 40 quid. Waste of time and money. BE AWARE. I am worried they got me bank details.

I wish I could give it 0 !

I paid for a £6.95 check and found out I also subscribed to a 39.90 a month service.

The £6.95 comes across as a singular check but in the fine print, it is for 5 checks in 48 hrs, which is followed by a £39.90 fee as a monthly subscription.

On their website they have pricing table. The £6.95 option has the £39.90 is mentioned in the 7th line of the table making it more easily brushed over. Not only does it sit on line 7 out of 8 - it is also in very very small font size.

How can any service have a subscription that's almost 6 times the value of 1st payment and not mention it in line 1 of the pricing table?

Why is the table in much smaller font to the rest of the website?

The fine print, the font size and the page layout of the pricing table makes me feel like this was intentional.

They have a 14 day cooling off period and i have tried to get a refund - they mentioned someone will contact me in 3 days.

Will update once I hear back with how it was dealt with.

I was another user of this company's…Scam company that uses a loss leader to suck you in and then charge you more later

I was another user of this company's low cost HPI check service that found I had 'auto enrolled' onto a £39.90 per month subscription that I have no use for and no knowledge of until the first payment was taken. I complained and asked for a refund, which they originally denied saying their conditions were clearly stated on their website. I said that I don't agree, and that I have 14 day 'cool down' statutory rights due to distance selling. They agreed to refund the money immediately.

I totally agree with all the reviews…

I totally agree with all the reviews relating to SCAM from this car-checking company.
I also used this service in good faith suggesting a check on vehicles for £5.95 as a reduced price for that day only.
There was no clear indication at the time of £5.95 purchase that they would then take another £39.90 EACH MONTH..WHAT...

I also contacted them by email - asking them (giving them a opportunity) to refund the £39.90 but they do not have the curtsey of replying. Looking at other reviews I have decided to contact my bank and have changed my card details to make sure they cannot keep taking payment each month.

The bank I am with has asked me to put in a complaint with them and they will investigate

Scammer company - don’t use.

Good reports but watch the costs…

Tread carefully if you’re just checking a single vehicle - reports are comprehensive but they can work out very expensive if you’re not on the ball.

Offers a single vehicle check at £5.95 but in the small print this is a 48 hour subscription only and they will take £39.90 a few days later unless you spot it, log in and cancel the thing straight away.
Quite easy to miss this bit and if you don’t cancel within the 48 hours you will be charged another £39.90 and then the same again each month until cancelled…
Sadly this was my experience although after several emails and follow up to cancel things the company did eventually refund £39.90.
