Ordered an extra battery for my e-bike. Arrived a few days later without fuss.

Australia Post screwed up the delivery but Dutch cargo bike stepped up and resent the package before they got an answer from Australia Post

I was looking for a non-electric, low-footprint cargo bike and found Dutch Cargo Bikes online, as they had exactly what I wanted on sale. Signing up for their newsletter gave me another $50 off. I booked a test ride mainly to see the colour of the bike in real life, and Yoga opened the box for me to make sure I liked it. He helped me load the bike into the car and was super friendly when I needed help after assembling the bike myself.
When I went back to tighten a few screws and check whether the gears were set up properly, I met Jürgen, who was also super friendly and knowledgeable. He contacted Tern regarding a request I had. After their mechanic checked my gears, he helped properly tighten all the screws and fixed a small rattling noise on my front rack.
My daughter was entertained by a little bubble machine they had standing around.
All in all, I can highly recommend these guys if you’re after a cargo bike. They also have heaps of different models available for test rides.

Dream bike

I’ve tried a lot of bikes and developed a concept for the perfect bike for me. When I found it I couldn’t believe my luck.

The iSY combines an upright posture with adjustable handlebar and seat height . It has a step through which enables easy and safe mounting and getting off. And it is a Bosch e-bike so it should be safe from fire risk. It’s also very light weight.

More than my ideal, this bike can be reduced in size to a flat surface which fits into a car without folding.

When I dream of cycling it’s like flying - weightlessly through a city or countryside. Now I live about 8 kilometres from Bellingen in rural NSW and really do fly slowly into town to do my shopping. However much I buy it never feels heavy and I cruise the hilly road home in the same time.

I discovered the power of e-bikes in Germany. It isn’t about going fast but about getting around comfortably for a long time. With a friend we cycled for 4 hours and covered about 80 kilometres on dedicated cycle paths but a couple of kilometres before getting back home I ran out of battery. Then I knew how important the electric assistance was.

Back in Australia I tried it out too. There are not many facilities for biking here unlike in Germany where bikes have equal rights or in Holland where non-lethal transport has priority over killer cars. In Bellingen we rely on the alternative culture and the general absence of infrastructure to be safe . Not many cars is a clear advantage. When a road is upgraded no cycle paths are included so progress makes things worse here. Despite this the number of cyclists is increasing quickly.

So I found my dream bike online and researched the shop well, spoke to them, and sent the money. A couple of days later it arrived.

Shops like this are rare all over the world. I found one in Berlin selling only Holland bikes. The nicest bikes are from Holland.

They were very helpful answering questions (over the phone and by email) before I ordered, and also shipped the bike interstate to a local bike shop who assembled it and were excellent on collection.

Dutch Cargo Bikes were also fast resolving a warranty issue with a replacement part.
