City of Edinburgh Council Avis 

Edinburgh Council are a disgrace. The streets are filthy, bins are overflowing. Potholes everywhere. Its the middle of January and we are still waiting for grit bins to be filled. I am ashamed of the state of the city.

First time at the procession and so excited!
Then what a let down at the start.
Stood for 2 hours in a queue in the Meadows. The entertainment was poor- couldn’t see a band, only hear it.
DJ - left a lot to be desired.
Couldn’t see any Vikings!
Heard the pipe band.
No access to food or toilet facilities once you were in the queue. A missed opportunity there as we would have welcomed a hot drink.
The fire entertainers- in middle of Meadows- felt sorry for them! Took forever to start, no introductions, so no one really noticed them.
And the 30/2024 fire sign.
Didn’t get that either at first!!
And a few small screens at the top promoting the event and Scotland. Just poor.
The security staff were helpful and friendly.
We understand the need for regulations, health and safety with fire, but herding us all into a 2 hour queue in the cold with rubbish entertainment was really poor and left us just wanting to go home before it started.
The procession itself was enjoyable and magical to take part in.

We were standing next to visitors from Japan and they were so fed up and annoyed as they thought it all started at 6.

Sort yourselves out for next year!! Feed and entertain us properly please!

State of the streets so called mangers on thousands a year doing nothing muirhouse strets are disgusting never see any council workers sweep or litter picking dumped heavy good all over I see the manger for street cleansing up for an assult

Where do you begin with these clowns??? Out of all nine cities I’ve lived in around the world I have NEVER come across a council like this. The level of ineptitude is in a league of their own. For the extortionate council tax you pay, what do you get in return??? Absolutely nothing. This gang of bureaucrats are absolute scum and answer to no one

I would give a minus score if possible. This is the street enforcement team at Edinburgh council. As far as I can tell they sit in their office and eat donuts all day. I have an abandoned car outside my house and reported it. It has no tax according to the government site . I reported this too. I ask for an update and get the equivalent of I dinnae know mate..... Councils are strapped for cash. Get rid of this part of the council

Edinburgh Council online payment services for council tax are worse than bad. Link to 'payment by debit card' doesn't work, link to 'online account' (view bill, change to paperless billing etc) hangs then times out.
Please Edinburgh City Council put effort into improving these online services. In this day and age this is not a big ask.

Popped down to Stockbridge for a wander and a bite to eat ! Big mistake ! Its a scruffy dump , pavements strewn with litter and dog poo , weeds , broken pavements , etc . Grossly overpriced cafes ! I could go on ! Wont be back .

From the statement of roads and pavements, to the overabundance of construction. Useless trams that ruined many businesses to trash left on the streets. The overtaxing of people and hatred of car users. The lack of regulation on Airbnb's and the approval of turning the city into a campus for students and no one else.

Also, thanks for blocking one of the many roads I used to use near my place and putting in two ugly rusty old tram wheels as one last F you for all the disruption these 10+ years. Screw Edinburgh Council

Litter and graffiti everywhere; poor/non-existent signage for tourists; pot holes; seemingly no control over timing of road closures needed by utility companies; no parking on Leith Walk (poor traders);what does the Council actually do to improve our city - and please don’t say bike paths.

Having lived in Edinburgh for 50 years and moved out to East Lothian 3 years ago, returning to Edinburgh is a shock to the system. It’s litter strewn streets, pavements dotted with spat out gum and filthy with smeared spillages of dubious origin and weeds thriving in places where the hordes have not trampled, I wonder - is it just me that notices this rapid decline into squalor of a once proud city. Is there the will to fix it?

I could have given 0 stars. The council tax line never gets connected. Emails only reply in 4 weeks but now 2 months no reply.

BRIAN.A very very nice guy. Nice & friendly. & Fixed my pipe under sink within minutes. Where 3 (non council Plumbers FAILED) What seemed a very simple job That Brian made look so easy & simple. & cleaned up after all was fixed. It is very much appreciated.

Normally CEC are wonderful, but on the day it's freezing here in the city below zero degrees, we have no heating. I am vulnerable/chronically ill. Boiler broke down, so no heat or hot water. I reported it early this morning, it's now evening and nothing.

As a local YouTuber, entrepreneur, and person paying a lot in taxes to this council, I need to say... i am disappointed. You can do whatever, and work hard but then you see all those people on Hunter square and around with a substantial amount of drugs they are taking, fighting, shoplifting in stores, even having "sweet love time"..... in public... in front of kids.... and you? council? you do nothing. you even get them flats on royal mile to make their life "easier" as they are "vulnerable"..... but their only purpose of the day is disturbing everything around them. normal 12h/ day working people cannot even afford this kind of living. And many people who are really vulnerable... need to choose between paying rent... or paying food. Shame on you!

Visited my favourite Scottish city; Edinburgh, yesterday, to pay my respects to the Queen.

Afterwards, called in at my favourite pub; Greyfriars Bobby, for a meal before heading back thru to Glasgow.

On leaving and taking the usual compulsory photo of the dog's statue outside, couldn't help but be drawn to this new? Chinese restaurant/takeaway a few yards to the right of the historic pub. I was genuinely amazed that someone in Edinburgh Council had actually given permission for this building's facade in historic and unchanged Candlemakers Row, to be so drastically and garishly changed and now stands our like a real eyesore...it changes the street and definitely NOT for the better.

Methinks whoever sanctioned this is unfit for purpose and definitely in the wrong job. I see there are vacancies for Toilet Attendants nearby...maybe they should apply ASAP and go with their true calling in life.

100%+bad reveiws on trustpilot is no shocker to me or most sane people.what a reflection on staff who run the edinburgh council, ceo boss still in his €160k job its staggering breath taking .your complaints to the spso ombudsman now take over 11 months before they can start to investigate according to the spso web site .its totally shambolic when you are advised by council senior officials to take your complaints to spso ombudsman if not satisfied with the councils reply to your "investigation stage" complaint given the present circumstances on 17.5.222 .they are a law unto themselves .their managment are totally unaccountable incompetent show total dissregard and disrespect to your concerns and can provide no evidence when evidence is requested from them .the whole outfit is run by amatures with no proffessional training in mamagement skills or possess any experience dealing with simple or challenging issues.this is a usefull reveiw.you cant upload pictures on here why is that i wonder. i could show great evidence of how my property was invaded every month for at least 10 years with vermin .had my kitchen units removed which revealed 6 inch square holes gaps with no skirting boards and the gaps allowing wiring cables not sealed.
8ft of small gaps along the missing skirting boards hence infestations regular even with pointless poison treatment from pest amatures control team had not a clue no great skills on that job .my 4 year old could put seeds in a box and place in a corner .

If I could give no stars I would. They are the worst council in Scotland, go to them with a problem, they'll ignore you even though their actions are the cause of the problem. 😡

This is a joke at Edinburgh Council I had blue badge since 2011 after having ankle fusion and further operation and problems with my hip .the had letters from my consultants and doctors. And still they refuse to renew it. As the smart centre says that I’m ok. And this is a physio therapist that over rules consult and doctors what a shambles
