Scottish Water Avis 

Work was recently carried out in my area which caused a massive disturbance, with no prior warning and no communication.

None of the residents were made aware that work was scheduled to be carried out until the morning after the night the cones and signs were displayed (15 September). This caused numerous issues with people not being able to pre plan their journey in the morning.

On the night of 14 September, a works vehicle put out cones from 23:52-23:57, waking up most people in the area I live in. The cones were not placed on the pavement they were thrown and the lights flashing from the vehicle along with the noise was a horrible disturbance at that time of night.

The following morning between 07:11-07:15 another works vehicle appeared, again waking everyone up. The workmen were moving the cones from the pavement to the road to close off the road. A completely unnecessary disturbance after already being woken up a few hours previous.

I am heavily pregnant and struggle with sleeping most nights. Neither myself, my husband or any of the other residents understand why the cones had to be dropped off at almost midnight and why another vehicle woke everyone up again 7 hours later.

Furthermore, work started at 06:54!! Again, waking me and other up at what I'm fairly certain is an unreasonable time.

I have asked multiple times for someone to advise why no one was made aware work was scheduled to be carried out, why work was carried out near midnight and why work was carried out two mornings in a row before 7am.

Not only was work being carried out before 7am but, the noise levels between two individuals whilst carrying out the work was ridiculous. You could hear their voices from inside your property.

Someone acknowledged my email and completely
ignored it and my follow up.

Classic that organisations like this don’t care about residents and have no problem working at ridiculous hours even when its probably not legal

I can see that Scottish Water have received a lot of negative reviews. However, I will speak as I find. For context, I used to work on faults for an electrical DNO. So I know what they are up against. We reported a leak. There was an engineer out the next day. It wasn’t a simple fix. So I ended up dealing with Dwayne from the control section. Superb to speak to. We then had Darren and Stuart as engineers and Dougie, Gary and John from Clancy. These are only some of the names I dealt with. My wife dealt with others. ALL were professional, courteous, efficient and friendly. The leak was eventually found, dug out, repaired, and reinstated. I was very happy and impressed with their service. Thank u.

Absolute joke! No notification!
Scottish water turned off the housing schemes water as working in the scheme over the past weeks hecking for leaks allegedly. No notification to households about this as if to be entitled to do this under emergency ruling for general maintenance checks. Today our water went off at 10am whilst residents have washing machines going with no notice from contractors! I called scottish water to be told of no works in the area?? Other neighbours have called and now told of the maintenance and that water will be off for a further 6 hours. If people were notified t3gen we could of filled containers to have water for drinking!! Poor customer care to say the least!

I called and reported no water and a blockage today spoke with lovely people at their customer service department I had an engineer come out within a few hours and fix the blockage and the mains water supply was fixed promptly too with that engineer calling me this evening explaining what had happened and it all being fixed out….a great service from all Scottish Water staff

I am very happy with the response I got from Scottish Water. I phoned them because I had a gushing leak under my floor. My plumber couldn’t switch off water as outside stop valve was full of debris a lovely young man came and cleared it so it could be switched off and my plumber could then go ahead with the repair that was needed many thanks

I called on Friday to ask about the location of my external water supply isolation valve which I couldn't locate. An Engineer visited on the following Monday; I wasn't home. I got a call on my mobile from Callum, who asked me a few questions, and rang me back 15 minutes later to say it was located and marked up for me to see. It's the second time I have needed support from Scottish Water, and it was another first-class service.

Absolutely fantastic plumber, sorted the issue within 5 to 10 mins, definitely recommend for any leak problems

I had contacted Scottish Water online on Sunday as my water pressure had dropped slightly. A lovely lady phoned me back within a few hours. She took my details and what was going on. She booked a job for me and a lovely chap came out the next day. He was very helpful and friendly and explainedwhst they'ddo. He said they'd come out again to trace the leak.

The next 3 days 3 vans with all their equipment were out to trace the leak. They sorted it and my pressure is full force again.

The 3 chaps who came out the 3 days were so friendly and helpful and explained what they were doing. All 4 members of Scottish water who came out and Nicola who phoned me initially, are definitely great ambassadors for the company. 5 stars all round.

I can't thank them enough for all the efforts they made to locate the leak and sort it so quickly too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. X

In the UK Scotland it rains 70% of the time. So when Scottish water tell you not to use water, just use more water because they are lying, they've got plenty of water. Do your job and stop lying to people. It could not it would need to stop ran for a year before we would run out of water. People just use more

Absolutely top mark from start to finish as far as I'm concerned. Called the board as a pavement leak was discovered next house to us, Unfortunately the elderly lady has been in care for some time,Water board were great keeping me up to date with everything what's required and actions taken.

Tried to report a leaking sewer with it leaking all down the road via online portal.
Failed miserably would not accept a normal postcode. And customer is a required field??? Two places on the form I could not clear to submit form. Big waste of time. So I ended up calling them after please hold on the line it went dead quiet, nothing for 4 min and I nearly hung up no music or how long current waiting times are!!
Appalling service when trying to report a fault! You trying to help them but feel like it's a big waste of time.

SW came out to check why I had low water pressure and faulty stopcock but washed their hands of helping me to be reconnected to mains water which is a basic need for people - for washing, cooking, laundry etc...was told not their domain and to get plumber/contractor.
got one out and they reconnected me to mains but landed with a hefty bill which I am now having a battle to get back from insurance co. another story.
they didnt' offer any bottled water or help at the time and when I complained they decided to give me 3 x 6pack bottles of water. nothing more left high and dry without water for over a week. someone should change the laws of who owns what as a basic householder doesn't know or check underground issues which this was and no-one takes responsibility for this problem..normal householders don't update wear n tear pipes underground..so the laws need changed to accommodate issues like this.

Don’t you just love it when Scottish Water put out their information on a forthcoming road closure????
Phrases like “Encourage drivers to allow more time” / “ we will work tirelessly to minimise disruption” / “ drivers should find alternative routes” /
The trouble is that it is the same old / same old with the same old results - Chaos !
They never sound as if they are, in any way, sorry for the inconvenience to a massive number of drivers / businesses/ and people affected directly or indirectly by the “ closure” !!!
It is the usual “Macho as shit ” attitude - “ we’re doing a job and you are just going to have to put up with it “ !
The real problem with that one is that, apart from being an obnoxious attitude, half the time they are sitting in vans on their Mobiles doing “ sod all “ !
If they actually worked 8 hours a day then the job would be done in half the time ! And that actually would “ minimise the disruption” !!

So, Edinburgh seeing its second disruption in the west of the city whilst millions of pounds are pumped into the more affluent areas. Meantime, the not fit for purpose sewage works at seafield are still waiting on a multi million pound investment - we’ve only waited about ten years so to be put on the back burner so the wealthy benefit while

we in leith live with the stench of the affluents raw fences pretty much sums up that Scottish Water is a class run utility looking after the rich while
sticking the stench to the poor.

Clearly the seafield regeneration fund is like the promises from overpaid Scottish water officials…. EMPTY!!

House is on the market as SW mismanagement of seafield is forcing me out my home of 18 years.

NY day, major water leak coming from underground. Called them up and came out with the big boy machines to cut open the path, dig and drain the hole to locate a burst pipe.

This morning, I found a 20-yard flow of waste water backing up outside my home. I reached out to the support line, and they were fantastic, getting a team on site to address it within an hour and a half—truly impressive. However, before this becomes a highlight in the success newsletter, I'm reaching out to the local council to check if the 76 newly constructed homes nearby are connected to an old Victorian sewer. I'll keep you posted.

Cant organise a drink in a bar. Useless does not begin to describe it. Please see The courier piece - keltneyburn road closure. On just how they dug up a road to connect a single uninhabited house diverting residents 10 miles and did not return to close up the hole for a week. Leaving everyone in the dark. Utterly incompetent. They simply dont care as they and the contractors they use Clancy seemingly will not be held responsible and they simply do not care.

Furious they were doing work outside our house.... Meaning we couldn't charge our electric car from our house charger 😔 SO had to go local incurring costs of £80 as had hospital appointment etc . Complained and haven't heard anything! NOT great being out of pocket at Christmas.
