Misleading cover - Avoid!
It’s very misleading when you’re purchasing on the website. Nowhere does it mention that it’s only local recovery for a flat tyre or anything else for that matter. It says National Recovery. There shouldn’t be exceptions in their terms and conditions. These should be highly visible before you purchase.
We only found out when we broke down with a flat tyre on the side of the motorway. Very hard to have a conversation with them and then they say our cover is only for local recovery to a garage. What use is that on a Sunday afternoon when most places will be shut and miles from home? We ended up having to get a mobile tyre fitter out to us on the motorway. A tyre that would normally cost £100 fitted cost us £350. Not impressed with Emergency Assist at all.
I agree with another reviewer this company needs to be investigated by the ombudsman.

Prompt pickup with very helpful insights.
The National recovery company, Browndown I 9think, was with me within the hour to 90 minutes slot. He located the problem and another I hadn't noticed, before the car was delivered to the garage, reducing my anxiety level.

Also took over 30 minutes to answer my call when I wanted to cancel. Was then charged £10 cancellation fee even though within the 14 day cooling off period. This company needs to be investigated by the ombudsman.

Effective breakdown service.
Found it easy to set up a suitable breakdown policy. Very competitive price. Hopefully the service will not be required but if it should be I trust it will be quick & effective.

Told to move car to unsafe location
My clutch broke whilst in the drive through lane on a Friday evening at McDonalds and the gear was stuck in reverse. I mangaed to move the cars behind me and reverse my car onto a grass verge next to the drive through lane so not to cause an obstruction. I phoned Emergency Assist who told me they would not send anyone out to me unless I moved my vehicle back onto the drive through lane. I explained that this would block the access to Mcdonalds but the operator insisted I had to do it. He told me to phone back once I had done this and I also needed to nominate and phone a garage which the vehicle could be recovered too but this was also not possible on a Friday evening as all garages were closed. I phoned back 10 minutes later lying saying i had moved the car and was now blocking the drive through lane as this was the only way he would send a recovery vehicle. He then said if they turned up and the vehicle was on grass i would be charged £150 cancellation fee and not recovered.
The recovery vehicle took 2.5 hours to arrive but the driver said where i had put my car on the grass verge was not an issue and easy for him to put on the back of his vehicle!
Emergency Assist always seem to try and find a reason to not send anyone out, When i first joined they offered an excellent service but in the last 18 months they have been awful. I will not be renewing!

Poor customer service
Poor customer service, impolite too at a stressful time. Cancellation fees charged when no Cancellation was created by owner. No understanding or support given, just 'it's in the terms and conditions.' Would not recommend in the slightest. No access to real people once you have concerns, complaints and you're informed that you can't escalate issues to the Ombudsman. Not a company I'd recommend or use again.
