Honestly one of the rudest companys…

Honestly one of the rudest companys I've ever spoken to nearly 6 months into a case and they refused to push it any further at one point trying to convince me to settle with no works being done and at another point closed my case because I refused to accept a unacceptable offer by my council regarding my 6 year old disabled son

I had a six year dispute with my…

I had a six year dispute with my landlord, Sovereign, and Cosby at FDM solicitors dealt with it professionally and quickly. He negotiated with my landlord for the work to be performed and also won me financial compensation. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Mar Mirza was so helpful and…

Mar Mirza was so helpful and understanding with all about the conditions I have had to put up with living here and damaged goods with the damp and mould and centenmentals and affecting my health and my kids and the outstanding emails and calls to Barnet homes relating this matter I have had and still not fixed and my service charges and ground rent not being set up since i have lived here and the support that mar has offered in occurrence about this all as its its been very stressful and I appreciate the support from Mar to have received this support and in addiquate to proceed with getting all fixed and to set up an direct debit for the service charges and ground rent and not have just send and keep sending an outstanding debt without setting up a direct debit. Take a leap of faith... thay have your back!

I had been living with outstanding repairs for years. Trying to fix them myself, spending money and time I should have spent with family. I followed all the procedures, made the phone calls, stayed in for the inspectors pointing out the problems and being told it would get fixed and signing the reports. Waiting for workmen that were told to do a quick fix, or walked away because that was not what they were sent for.
I got used to the "it's how you live" "open a window" (in winter with the cost of heating!), spend all your free time cleaning walls, windows, painting over water stains, guessing where the water come from. On the big things like a flood that blew the electrics they would arrive, so the guilt of berating them, over server damp that made the paint peel off the walls in the bathroom, it would make my anxiety amplified, and I would be back up the ladder knowing I would be doing this again in 6 months, because there were underlying problems that I could not fix, that were not being looked at.
It was then that I was spoken to by a representative of FDM. I had seen the adverts for all these housing claim companies, so I reluctantly let him in to have a look. He listened as I showed him, leaking windows and walls, black mould, damp, dripping pipes, flaking ceilings (all with a knot in my stomach waiting for him to agree it was me causing the problems). Instead, he assured me I was not the only one with these problems and no amount of work I did on the inside would fix the outside or replace the plumbing. He took photos and sent them to the office, I was contacted the next day by a really nice lady who listened as I reeled off the urgent repairs I felt were needed, then using her experience she asked and the rest of the problems? I maybe gave her 10 things that I could think of, she assured me if there was 10 there was probably 20.
I was very reluctant to go ahead knowing my housing office would be unhappy and worried about my tenancy, also if this was a scam I could be setting myself up for debt!
But I knew something had to change, so I took a deep breath, researched the company, rang them back and agreed to go forward. Then emailed that evening and changed my mind, then spoke to them the next day and agreed again (I'm not easy and very cautious).
FDM sent an independent property inspector to check what needed to be done and write a report to send to my housing, he was great, non-judgemental and very polite. In his report he found 28 problems! And I thought here we go, my housing is definitely not going to be happy!
Of course my housing challenged the report which Kate Morgan (my claim advisor) assured me it was normal and sent their own inspector, he found around 43 problems including the structure and roof of my building!
Kate Morgan then rung me to advise of next steps... the repairs would of course be insisted on, but I also had an option to go for compensation. I advised that I did not want to claim for anything other than fees to cover the claim and any legal expenses, as my main priority was getting the work done. I thought this would be a dealbreaker with FDM, as the council (unhappy) had already told me these companies are all after money. Kate agreed with my instructions and sent me paperwork written up detailing that they would only ask for the amount needed to cover expenses including if they had to go to court, to force them to do the work.
As soon as the paperwork was signed, I had a housing inspector out with a list of works and the scaffolding went up, and the work began.
This time, I got to choose to have the appointments around my work and family... allowing me time to empty rooms as needed, not waiting in all day, the work men had a copy of the list and worked through it at a good pace. Repair works were done properly (no cutting corners) even work seen above and below me was tackled (happy neighbours). Kate supported me the whole time, asking if everything was OK, did I have any concerns, but all went smoothly because I was not on my own I had FDM's support behind me. Yes, I had a few side eyes as I was the woman who had rung the solicitors but with FDM's reassurance this didn't matter, I was finally getting the work done.
The paperwork process was very easy, Kate walked me through everything, and it didn't cost me a penny! The council had to cover the cost, no guilt here. I gave them every opportunity before this stage, it felt like the cost was deserved. I paid my rent and for years they failed me!
Hopefully in the future, I won't have to make any calls to FDM, but this time I won't let it get that far. I will happily engage FDM if the need arises!
I would like to give the biggest thanks to Kate Morgan and the FDM team for all their help and support. I hope other people are just as lucky to find your company and receive your help. You do a great job, keep up the good work!

Very friendly and helpfull. Guide you atepf by step with all the information you need. My case handler name is Cosby Fofie and was very friendly when spoke to him by phone. Can always get hold of them if need be. Recommended 100%
