NO PAYMENT AFTER 5 weeks of sale

Gerrards sold a bracelet for me on 31st October 2024, on my invoice I was told I would receive payment for the bracelet 4 weeks after the sale. No payment came.
I rang and was told it would be processed at the end of the week ( it was now 4th December) on the Friday 6th Dec I rang at lunchtime as no payment came to my account as promised. The person on the phone said there were hundreds of payments to go through and it would be processed before the end of the day.
At 4:15pm I rang again as still no payment came. A woman said that it was actually 28 working days that payment would be made and that the accountant was working through them but she only worked part time, she took my name and said she would email them.
I have been in need of this money and I now have no idea when I will actually receive it as I don’t know when their part time accountant works.
So if you sell anything with this auctioneer and need the funds quickly, think again as you will be disappointed.

brilliant fast service

Bought a diamond ring for my mum, really fast invoicing and delivery was within a couple of days. Very impressed with this auction house.

Gerrards....one of the best

I have been dealing with this company for now over 20 years and i have always found them to be one of the best.
The directors and the staff are excecptional and always helpful.One member of staff i must mention Leighanne she has looked after my account for years and i never have any problems,helpful and always gets the job done.

Auction item lost or stolen ?

Item paid for in full only to be advised by Director Elizabeth Cole that the item had now been ‘lost’.
As the hammer price was much less than the estimated price i ask if the item had been stolen.
I never did receive a satisfactory response and the item remains missing.

Since I was unable to manage myself my daughter took some items of jewellery to our local community centre and I was delighted with the cash offered. The staff rep, Liz was so nice and friendly...thanks Liz

Very happy with the prices given and the Professional Service.

Very happy with the prices given yesterday at the Cumbernauld Valuation Event, even got some money for my broken jewellery, Liz and Debs were great, I was a bit nervous as ive never been to a valuation event before, but they made me feel at ease, and even though it was very busy, they still gave time to me when it was my turn, treated my mothers jewellery with respect, and was told they would only melt the Gold if they really had too, so I was happy with that also, I will be returning when there in my neighbourhood again.

Very positive experience

My experience with Gerrards was very positive. I had received a leaflet through the post and thought I would give them a try as I had already been to my local jeweller and was not happy with their offer. I dealt with Simon who was very knowledgeable and friendly. He offered me a lot more than the jeweller had and I was very happy.

Beware road trip valuations in your town.

I have just had my family’s gold jewellery massively undervalued by Gerrards during a road trip valuation in my local town. I spoke to presumably John Cook as per leaflet drop. Some items, all of which are 9ct gold, are as follows with a local jeweller’s OFFERS in brackets-medal £160(£300) Scrap gold £400(£550) gold chain £500(£730) gold watch £100(£175) tray of ‘costume jewellery’ £30(£110 for one item that the jeweller said was gold).Gerrards total £1190 jewellers £1865 a difference of £675. When he valued the watch at £100 I asked if that exceeded it’s gold value and he abruptly said ‘ that’s how much I’m offering you’ Also, I said ‘oh you take costume jewellery’ he said’ not really it’s just people don’t know the difference’. Luckily my local jeweller pointed that out to me, but not John.
I went back again with a scrap gold watch and spoke to Elizabeth? who valued it at £20, when I knew it’s value to be £60. These figures speak for themselves. Their leaflet drop has encouraged people especially the older generation from our community to go to them. I saw people being handed cash for their gold while I was there. I know Gerrards can offer any amount they like but I would urge people to get another valuation as a comparison instead of just accepting their offer.

Fantastic Service by Carole

I recently purchased some delicate goods from Gerrards Auction Rooms and could not fault the service and attention to detail ,especially the care provided during transit .The goods were all identified ,meticulously and individually packed to ensure that no damage occurred during posting ,together with a nice touch of a friendly card being enclosed with a message by the person who packed the goods .

Treherbert valuations

Went to a valuation this afternoon at Treherbert Rugby club for valuations.
Valued my 3 old wedding rings for £100.
Got home and thought I'd check the current gold price and realised I'd been done.
Just would say to anyone else. Be careful. I should have checked before I went but didn't. Don't make the same mistake.

A very good first experience

My experience of Gerrards Auction Rooms was very good. Good clear photos of items and good descriptions of lots. Additional questions answered speedily. Delivery was fast, packed well (thanks to Carole) - I paid for my lots one day and they arrived the next day which was much appreciated. Postage cost is higher than some others but it is an inevitable extra when bidding online and should be allowed for when distance bidding. The overall service I received can't be faulted. Thank you

Gerrards will rip you off on postage

Gerrards will rip you off on postage, they obviously see a good profit to be made on postage over and above their commission, I buy from around 3 auctions across the UK every week and a small number of auction houses overcharge on postage, Gerrards are among the worst, £27 to post 2 cased pens, actual cost was small parcel £6.19
