From Proposal To Power station.
I came to Greener Energy Group through Hive, having decided that I wanted solar panels and battery storage.
My main motivation for installing solar wasn’t actually financial. I simply like the idea of leaving the planet a little better than I found it for those who follow. Of course the economics matter, but they weren’t what drove my decision.
After completing a form through Hive, Greener Energy contacted me to arrange an appointment with Adrian, their energy surveyor. Adrian was excellent. What stood out was that he listened. It was a dialogue rather than somebody talking at me for an hour and then trying to close a sale.
He also said that if I had any questions afterwards, I should email or phone him. I tested that promise fairly quickly when I realised I hadn’t asked about bird proofing. The answer came back in very short order: yes, it was included.
The proposal itself was extremely comprehensive. It covered the proposed system in detail, projected generation and financial performance, the equipment being supplied and the warranties and protections behind the installation. It felt like a document designed to let me make an informed decision rather than simply persuade me to sign.
I did obtain another quotation. It was cheaper, but the proposal contained far less detail and seemed to consist largely of exclusions and things that wouldn’t be done. I rejected it. Price matters, but so does knowing what you are actually buying and who will be standing behind it afterwards.
From that point onwards, I could largely relax.
Because of the size of my installation, approval was required from the local electricity network operator (DNO). I simply signed a letter authorising Greener Energy to deal with that on my behalf, and they dealt with it.
Leanne kept me informed as things progressed. She was warm, straightforward and approachable, and whenever I spoke to her I came away feeling reassured that everything was under control.
Then the installation happened.
First the scaffolders arrived. They were here for a relatively short time, did what they needed to do and left. No fuss.
On another day George and his colleague arrived to do the roofing work. In less than half a morning our roof had solar panels on it. Everything was neat and tidy, and we were shown photographs of the completed work.
Then Barry and his colleague arrived to carry out the electrical installation. There was some drilling, an explanation and demonstration of the app, and importantly, an invitation to come and inspect their work before signing it off.
They came, they did the job and they left. The only real evidence that they had ever been here was a fully functioning little power station.
That same attitude seemed to apply whenever anything unexpected arose. On commissioning day there was apparently an issue with the app. I only found out about it by chance while chatting afterwards. It hadn’t been made into my problem; they had simply got on with sorting it out.
I can also attest to the aftercare. The following day I discovered that I couldn’t change some settings I needed access to. Thanks to Melissa, that was dealt with immediately.
The lasting impression I have of the people from Greener Energy is one of quiet confidence. They knew what they were doing without ever appearing arrogant. Everyone was respectful, the installers were neat and tidy, and if there was a problem, they regarded it as theirs to deal with rather than mine.
Above all, they seemed to take pride in what they do, and from my experience they have good reason to.
There will probably be companies that will sell you a solar installation for less. For me, though, this was one of those projects where you start by thinking, “I really want to do this, but I suspect getting there is going to be painful.”
Now it is finished, the system is working and I’m almost left wondering: did all that really happen?
Of course it did. It was simply far less painful than I expected.
Would I recommend Greener Energy Group? Based on my experience from the first conversation through installation and aftercare, absolutely.

We are happy to be getting free electricity
We were happy with the selling approach taken by Stewart Campbell which led to us placing an order with Greener Energy Group for solar panels and a battery unit. These were installed by Toni Paton and it was a pleasure to have him in and around the house.
We had some concerns about the scaffolding which was erected without toeboards or any other side protection. We found various small bits of debris in the scaffold area after it was removed.
There was a problem with establishing a WiFi link with the new equipment after it was installed. Our WiFi was set up for 5GHz and the new equipment worked on 2.4GHz. We were able to find out the work-around but it would have helped if we had known about this before the installation.
However, it was resolved and we are pleased to say that the panels are now generating free electricity.

Right from the start the vibes were good. Friendly staff, careful checking and planning before any work was done. All was explained well. Office staff were a great help with form filling for the grants etc, which were to me a minefield. The installers checked with me what was happening and did I agree. I was worried about the upheaval but I needn't have as they sorted everything beautifully, very neat, tidy and thoughtful about positioning heaters pump and electrical work. Contacted company about solar batteries…
Contacted company about solar batteries Was told someone would come out on said day and time. But no one turned up was not notified of this so called them and they said his car had broken down So arranged another visit guess what he didn’t turn up they said he was off sick and they said they had just found out that was why I hadn’t been contacted again ? So like a fool I thought third time lucky , you guessed it no one turned up so 3 days wasted . If this is there standards I would steal clear .

We moved to a village in Lanarkshire…
We moved to a village in Lanarkshire with no gas in area so we had to look at alternative , calor and oil didn’t equate for us so were recommended by a family member , brother also a friend coincidently who used greener energy for air source heat pumps and spoke very highly of them ,, being in building trade unfortunately don’t trust anyone’s views so thought call their office start dialogue ,, they sent technician very experienced he ran through quote and what equipment may be needed ,he left leaving us with quote and funding available very polite guy and experienced ,, we done sums and agreed , after this we were passed to Debbie and guys and office who 100% on ball very effiecient , gave us date for installing and date was met guys and materials appeared , couldn’t persuade guys go have tea heads down done job 2 days , electrician done his stuff no probs , rubbish removed , we constantly kept up to date with progress from office for our funding and this was mostly helped by Debbie and girls ,, once job completed another technician visited to iron out few small problems and this guy can’t thank enough big Richard for following up with our supplier octopus who might been bit more understanding anyway he sorted them out for us ,, so yes would recommend greener energy you’ll be answered on phone and you do get service promised ,, thanks again sorry can’t remember all your names , Debbie, Matt, Richard , Melissa , and the top man the fitter Andrew , and Craig technician ,, 👍🏻

The product , solar, inverter & battery were a top brand . Only down side was salespersons error which left a poor taste about his competence or knowledge? Had a problem with my two year old…
Had a problem with my two year old Greener Energy heat pump system. Got through to the office straight away and the lady I spoke to lead my through some simple checks and gave me a temporary fix. Engineer arrived dead on 8am and had the system up and running within half an hour, and fully explained the problem and what he’d done to fix it. Great service throughout. I would recommend this company and their service department.

Our initial contact with the salesman…
Our initial contact with the salesman was both interesting and informative. We initially wanted solar panels but we quickly informed they’d be useless and expensive for us. We were downhearted but they he started talking about batteries and low cost electricity. He produced a quote and after he left we did some research and very quickly decided this option would work for us.
In no time at all the guys were on site fitting the batteries, very competent, tidy and efficient. They gave us a quick run down of how to use them, told us what would happen next and left.
We kind of got stuck a bit then as we weren’t really sure what we were doing but we’re now back on track and looking forward to getting the most out of our system.
There are only a couple of things that could have made things easier for us, a dedicated phone number or email with someone to talk to, and clearer communication about how things progress once installation is complete!
Overall though we are pleased and would recommend to anyone looking for a similar system.

Greener Energy Group are Great!
I contacted Greener Energy Group through Uswitch and I received a call from their office shortly after. They were very accommodating in finding an appointment slot that worked for me when it came to having someone come out to see me.
George came out to see me and assess how many panels etc I could have. We are lucky enough to have a south facing roof so solar is really a no-brainer for us. We spent some time going through the options and the ideal system for my home. He answered all of my questions competently and really put my mind at ease. So much so, that I signed up there and then. I had quotes from other installers but this was the most competitive.
Having sealed the deal, install was booked in fairly quickly and the documentation was provided almost immediately after install. At the time of writing this review, I am still awaiting the DNO application coming back but that shouldn't take too long.
I would recommend Greener Energy Group to anyone. Office staff are really efficient, friendly and return all calls and emails.
Really happy with GEG and most of all with the system as installed.
