Probate valuation
We instructed Hardings because we needed an (historic ) valuation of my late father’s house for probate purposes. They were extremely friendly , helpful and professional at all times . Their report was prepared very expeditiously by Ms Jessica Toogood MRICS and was very detailed, well researched and very professionally presented (thank you Jessica ) at a reasonable price . I would thoroughly recommend their services.

Take on work they can't do
Quoted to survey for reinstatement costs for a listed building. Needed urgently for insurance. Two weeks before surveyor could come out, and did all his measuring. Then three days later after the survey. told me they don't do listed buildings! Why accept the contract? Why send a surveyor? They have wasted three weeks of my time, and the house is still uninsured because of their incompetence

I would like to sincerely apologise for the experience you have had with Harding Chartered Surveyors.
You are absolutely right to be frustrated. We should not have accepted instructions for a listed building reinstatement cost assessment, and it was an error on our part to progress this without identifying the issue sooner. We do provide high quality reports for a building reinstatement cost assessment, however at present we cannot do these for listed buildings. This has understandably caused you significant inconvenience and delayed your insurance arrangements, and for that, we are very sorry.
The error was due to an administrative oversight, compounded by a new team member who missed the note that the property was listed. This is not an excuse but an explanation. We have already reviewed and updated our internal procedures to ensure this does not happen again, and all staff have been briefed so that such errors are not repeated.
We fully accept responsibility for the time lost and appreciate how important urgent insurance matters are. While we cannot undo what has happened, we hope you will accept our sincere apology for the disruption caused.
If there is any way we can assist you in moving forward—whether by recommending a specialist firm experienced in listed building valuations or by providing any supporting documentation you may require—please let us know.

Great experience with Scott Ingham
Great experience! We are purchasing a run down house for a full renovation and wanted the assurance of a full survey before building works started. Our surveyor was Scott Ingham and he did a fantastic thorough job. He was onsite all day and happy to answer any questions we had. The report was very comprehensive and delivered within a week - which was much appreciated. Initially we were unable to gain access on the day we had planned, both Hardings and Scott worked with us patiently until this was resolved. (They were well within their rights to levy fees for this but chose not to). So all in all a great firm, decent price, very comprehensive report. Highly recommend!

Recommended - Specific Defect
I engaged Harding to conduct a specific defect survey on a prospective purchase property in West London.
I was very impressed with our surveyor Alaa and his report was helpful. It seems that he identified the key issues effectively and provided actionable recommendations for their remediation.
There were a few minor customer service niggles but nothing that can't be learnt from and improved (as such, I have not deducted a star).
Overall, I would certainly recommend Harding and would use them again.

Very professional and quick
Very good customer service, answered all my questions via email swiftly. I was impressed with the quality of the survey itself and the detail it went into (David Toogood was the surveyor). It gave us a much better understanding of the property we were about to buy and what works were required.

Wanted a Boundary Survey done
Wanted a Boundary Survey due to a boundary dispute, provided details on 6th November, 23rd November still no quote.
Asked on 23rd November if I still wanted a quote. Jamie (in office on Fridays) can't provide a quote in 17 days, If I contacted every single surveyor in London, I guarantee I could get a quote in 3 / 4 days.
Hardings highlights the company's experience on their website, so a quote for a semi detached with garden 25'' x 55'' should be easy to provide.
It isn't great.

They were the only ones who confirmed they could do valuations for 3 London flats in a very tight time window and actually delivered earlier than originally quoted despite one tenant not being there to give access and the visit to the property being delayed for a week.
