Second time I have purchased a car from Hippo. Process as before was straight forward.
On this occasion the car was delivered with a faulty boot release.
I spoke with Katie from the customer service team and due to the distance I arranged for it to be fixed locally and then Katie arranged for a refund of cost I incurred. Was only £87 as I sourced a replacement button and the garage fitted it.
Always feel it’s when you get an issue you find out if not just a glossy website.

I purchased a vehicle from Hippo Motor Group in August 2025.
Within days of receiving the car, I reported issues directly to them. Over the following months, the vehicle was returned for repair multiple times, including being sent to a third-party garage and later to BMW. Despite this, the issues were not resolved within a reasonable timeframe.
The car has been off the road for a significant period (4 months), which has caused considerable inconvenience.
Throughout this process, I have had to repeatedly chase for updates, and communication has been inconsistent.
Due to the length of time taken and the unsuccessful repair attempts, I have now exercised my final right to reject the vehicle through the finance company under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
I am currently awaiting formal resolution.
This review reflects my personal experience of the process and company.

Avoid this company at all costs.
I purchased a vehicle from them in January and within weeks it became clear the car was dangerously faulty. The electronic handbrake has activated multiple times while driving, the car has thrown itself into park at speed, and I have had several near collisions — including with my children in the car.
An independent mechanic has confirmed the vehicle is not fit for purpose.
Despite reporting faults within the first 30 days (and being assured this was logged), they have:
- Refused a refund
- Dismissed serious safety issues as a “feature”
- Told me they are not liable if the car causes an accident
- Offered no replacement vehicle
- Advised me not to drive it while I continue paying for it
The car also has major electrical faults — alarms going off for hours, false warnings, and not locking or shutting down properly.
I was even told the car was taxed when it wasn’t, leaving me unknowingly driving illegally.
This has been one of the most stressful and dangerous experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve now involved the Motor Ombudsman and will be escalating further.
This company has shown a complete disregard for safety, responsibility, and basic customer care.
Do not trust them.

I was told I could pick up the car on Sunday on the Friday. I was text on Saturday to say the log book hadn’t arrived; after waiting and having to follow up myself I was told th car was coming to me without any mot, doubt it has been serviced. Delivery slot is a 4 hour window for today. So far I’ve not heard anything . They have offered to pay for mot and any ensuing issues as a result of so the jury is still out on overall experience. For now it is unsatisfactory
