Innovate ADHD Avis 

I had a great experience with Innovate ADHD. The diagnosis interviews were made as comfortable for me as possible and everyone I met was very friendly and supportive. Additionally, I was able to have a conversation with one of my diagnostic team, Lydia Griffiths, following the diagnosis to give me more help and information.

The people who did my assessment where very understanding, reassuring and patient. There was open communication throughout the entire process and even when completing things they needed for the assessment (sending in documentation etc) they made sure to send a reminder when I didn’t do a step (I thought I did I accidentally skipped over it) so the assessment could still go forward

My experience with Innovate ADHD was incredible. Appointments were easy, fast, and readily available to book. The clinicians I spoke with were welcoming and knowledgeable, creating a warm and safe environment to discuss my background. I particularly benefit by being given tips and resources to explore strategies as well as a clearer understanding of ADHD and it's subcategories.

A positive and dare I say 'enjoyable' experience. Chatting to my assessors Jane and Kirstie, felt like having a chat with new friends. I felt very at ease and in capable hands.

The assessments were 1.5hrs each (x 2) and I was given the opportunity to email anything additional that I felt may be relevant. We then had a chat about the diagnosis and how it made me feel.

After 40+ years of feeling like I don't quite fit in anywhere, I finally have some answers.

Next step, exploring medication and coaching.

Living with undiagnosed ADHD has been extremely challenging, in particular when a popular narrative is that it isn't real, or is an excuse for 'poor' behaviour. Deciding to get a diagnosis has, therefore, been daunting, due to fears of having my concerns dismissed.

My experience with InnovateADHD, however, has been exceptionally positive. I was given forms to fill in within only two months of my GP referral. Once these were completed, I waited only one week for my assessment interview. Beforehand, I was sent reminders - four days before the interview, two days, one day and two hours - all of which were so helpful for someone with ADHD.

The assessment interview took 3 1/2 hours (which I've read is gold standard) and was extremely thorough. The clinicians, Aaminah and Anais, were patient, professional and supportive and asked a huge range of questions about my early childhood, teenage years and adulthood, which enabled me to notice patterns and see the effects of the condition on me, for the last 57 years.

Immediately after the assessment interview, I was sent a selection of times and dates for the diagnostic interview, which was only a week, later.

Ten minutes before the diagnostic interview, Ben phoned me to see how I was feeling, to outline what we'd be discussing and to ask if I had any concerns, and I can't emphasise enough how much this reassured me. My stress levels plummeted - thank you so much, Ben. We spent 1 1/2 hours in the diagnostic meeting, and Ben asked such insightful questions and reassured me throughout. He also allowed me time to give yet more evidence, as I'd remembered so much, particularly from early childhood and after reading my school reports, that I'd completely forgotten about until after the initial meeting.

Based on my questionnaire forms, the informant form, the 3 1/2 hour assessment interview, and the 1 1/2 hour diagnosis interview, I was diagnosed with ADHD, told what choices there were to support me in terms of treatment, and given an indication of next steps and a timeline.

If you're considering exploring whether you have ADHD and what support is available, I really can't recommend InnovateADHD highly enough. They are professional, supportive, thorough and the communication is outstanding.
