Irish School of Motoring - ISM Avis 

I had a provisional driving licence a number of years ago, but unfortunately did not renew it, fast forward some years later and I decided to go again. Passed my Theory Test first time and booked my 12 lessons. I cancelled after 8 as I lost all confidence and the stress and worry I had before the lessons wasn't worth it. I was being told of all his other pupils and how great they were, I also made the mistake of telling him I had my own car BIG MISTAKE, it then went to 'mind the poles' when you are in YOUR car you have to be careful of the mirrors' and 'when you are in your own car ....... This went on for so long I told him I was selling the car. I am waiting 21 days and counting for a refund, I have left emails, callback request and various voice messages. I definitely would not recommend this lot! They are great at taking money, but not so in giving it back.

Saad Ahmed is brilliant! Very patient and attentive with a fantastic ability to put you at ease if you’re nervous when starting to drive. I only started learning in late January and I passed my test in June.

Saad was always available with any questions or extra lessons / mock tests and he helped me build up my confidence so that I could smash my test with a near perfect score. 💯🙌🏼

Really kind and patient driving instructors, Saad Ahmed in particular was really helpful in explaining a lot of my driving errors which helped me immensely for my driving test.

Booked my 12 lessons and my instructor was Adeola. Was told she has good availability and did my first two lessons with her. After that I text her and received no reply until the third text. She said she couldn’t tell me when her next availability was which is disgraceful. I was onto ISM nearly 4 times having to ring every time. They seemed in no rush to fix anything. They told me there was no other instructor in my area so I would have to travel to crumin/ finglas which is a 30 min drive from me. Why book me in with an instructor who has no availability. Worst experience ever and would 100% not recommend.

I just wanted to share some feedback following passing my test today - my instructor was Saad Ahmed and he was an exceptional instructor.

Saad was extremely helpful with all my pre-test lessons, he was able to give succient and clear guidance on what I need to do before, during and after manuvers and while on the road. He was able to pinpoint areas to focus on to improve and provided good explanations on the remediating steps.

I really appreciated his patience with me, and his supportive and motivational style. He helped me improve massively and gave me lots of confidence which help me pass my test!

Saad Ahmed is a great driving instructor. I practised on the Tallaght test routes and completed several mock driving tests with him, which really helped me prepare for the real exam. He was patient, professional, and gave clear feedback that boosted my confidence. Thanks to his excellent teaching, I passed my driving test on my first attempt. Highly recommended.👍👏🏼

I was referred to ISM Driving School by a friend who had previously used their services, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I made.

My instructor, Ioan, was professional, patient, and incredibly friendly throughout every lesson. What stood out to me most was the attention to detail; the car was always spotless, and he even had bottles of water available during lessons, which was such a thoughtful touch.

Ioan provided constructive feedback throughout my sessions, helping me build my confidence and improve my driving skills in a supportive and encouraging way. He was always calm, kind, and genuinely invested in helping me succeed.

Thanks to his excellent instruction, I passed my driving test! I would highly recommend ISM Driving School to anyone looking for driving lessons in Ireland. Their professionalism and high standard of teaching make them one of the best driving schools around.

It was very easy to book with ISM, very flexible and professional company. I couldn't have been luckier to find the most patient instructor, Ioan Padureanu. I'm closer to my 40's and I have never driven before. He had the patience of an angel. He was very knowledgeable and helpful with every little detail. I've passed my test today, thanks to you Ioan!

Imelda phelan in Kilkenny was an incredible driving instructor very kind, knowledgeable don’t think I would’ve passed if I didn’t do the lessons with her. I would highly recommend if your looking for a driving instructor.

I had an exceptional experience throughout all twelve of my lessons with Sarah, she was so reassuring and had endless advice to give to me. My confidence has sky rocketed and I cant thank her enough. I couldn't recommend her enough.

I used ISM for my driving lessons this between the end December 2025 and early January 2026 and must commend their communication and efficiency. I did my 12 EDT lessons with Saad Ahmed and I would say if you can request him, you most definitely should! He was the right instructor for me, even adapting to my style of learning through out and taking into consideration my funny schedule. I took my test at the end of April and passed with no faults!

Disappointed , Did 12 Lessons with them and was told when you book your test let us know and you can rent out the car ,I Booked the test and was told my instructor left the company, Said I will need to put u with another instructor for a lesson and he will see if your fit too drive the car on the day for the day of the test So I was told I need to pay for the lesson and the rental of the car before meeting the instructor, Paid 250. And was told at the end of my lesson he is not providing Me with the car even though he did mention I am not a dangerous drive which is confirmed in an email , So bare in mind I already paid for my test which I will be loosing out the money on as I can't rent the car for my test, I was told why don't you do the test in a Automatic Car we can arrange a lesson , and I was speaking to agent in the Office I said why would I pay for another lesson in Automatic just to be told I am not going to be still given the car to rent for the day And that how unprofessional it was too be told after doing Manual Lessons to do it in a Automatic car , I demand to speak to the operations manager , He said we would only rent u out the car if you did 20-30 Lessons which this was not advised my any member of staff at any point of contact , He said this is advised my all agents on phone to customers , So my point was if this is the case Why did the agent Take money of me to rent out the car knowing I only did 12 Lessons as she would of known instructors will only give u the car to rent after 20-30 Lessons and then why are they trying to book me in Automatic to see will the they give me the car to rent when I said this still won't add up to 20 -30 Lessons so agents are taking money for lessons sending you out to instructors and they know full well they won't rent u the car unless you done 20-30 Lessons ,The rental of the car was 140.00 said I am only getting refunded 110.00 which is theft , Agent should never took money of me to rent out a car knowing I needed to clock up 20-30 hours, I will be raising a dispute with the bank and if my 30 euro is not refunded I will be looking for legal advice this on this matter

Think I sent that last message to the middle of the internet. Not sure where that one went but either way enjoyable cpc. Instructors where fantastic with the interaction Level,I actually stayed awake 🤣 and who knew abs was originally used on aircraft huh. But all in all all courses get a positive from me along with the instructors. Can I make a suggestion and maybe some biscuits 😂. Just an idea.

Brian Lee was a great instructor, gave very helpful and clear advice and I felt very confident when driving with him. The car was also very nice to drive!

I had two pretest lessons with Brian, who was enormously helpful in helping me pass my test. I was nervous after failing first time but he gave great tips and advice on how to improve my driving skills and especially helped me to gain confidence in reversing maneuvers for my test. He was a very patient and informed instructor, gave detailed advice and insights into how the test would work. Lessons really improved both my understanding of the test and my driving skills. Highly recommend.

I had a really lovely experience doing my 12 automatic lessons and pretest lessons with Saad. He was very calm and explained everything clearly throughout all my lessons. Very grateful for all the support I received through the whole process and glad to say I passed first time!

Passed my driving test today thanks to my fabulous instructor Owen he brought me out for a 2 hour pretest the day before then a warm up hour did the test in his car couldn't recommend both ISM and my instructor enough Thank you

My car had an issue the day before the lesson and I had to cancel. When I tried to reschedule, the instructor and I couldn't agree on a day for the lesson (it's 2 hour lesson during week days either at 7am or around 12pm, so not easy to arrange if you have a regular job), so I asked for a refund. At this point they told that since their cancellation policy is 48 hours they will keep my payment. I'm really disappointed, since my car breaking down was out of my control. Be aware of this, before booking their service.
