Just started to learn Japanese. New alphabet, new language…I spent my trial week to get acquainted with the course as I want to read, write and speak Japanese.
It was very easy to communicate with the team and I always received an explanatory mail within 24hrs. Guidance and service were excellent. I gained a lot by reading the guidelines to enable me to make the most of the lessons and enjoy the course. I love it.

Spent 3 years using “learning Spanish”on different computer based programme and making some progress but got bored with the repetitiveness.
Joined Langua after a prompt from Paul Q and my spoken Spanish has rocketed plus I look forward to my daily chat.

I have had the best conversation in Spanish with Langua. This is my first week and I still have to test all modes. Being able to print the transcript of the conversation, studying the suggested corrections and better way of saying things at the end makes it a fantastic teacher buddy.
I asked Alloy, my teacher, to review a book with me and we had a very deep discussion on philosophy. Again, being able to read our interactive talk on transcript and its corrections later was invaluable.

When I first came across this app I was pleasantly surprised by its very usable AI conversational ability. It worked well and it became part of my language learning.

A few months later and I now find it absolutely stunning as a result of a couple of new needs I had.

1. I am learning Spanish using the 'comprehensible input' methodology as espoused by Dreaming Spanish amongst others. As part of that I have reached the stage of immersion where I need to be engaged in conversation with a Spanish speaker where they speak Spanish and I reply in English (called cross talk). With no effort at all, Langua was happy to assist!

2. I recently had to deliver my first business presentation speech in Spanish. I asked Langua to assist (assuming that it couldn't possibly work) and it utterly surprised me. It went through the speech with me, speaking a sentence at a time then listening to my replies and providing detailed comments on my pronunciation. Maybe not quite as good as an attentive human being for sure but incredibly usable and much more patient!

I'm certain the app will support my language learning for many years to come!

P.S. I have tried many many language apps and settled on one or two that genuinely impact my learning. Langua is one of them

Absolute game changer!!! I have been conversing in French with Gaelle, my AI companion, and it is absolutely amazing. She adjusts completely to whatever I say, it is just like talking to someone in person. But what makes it even more fabulous is that there are so many options for checking on the accuracy of what I am saying, getting her to repeat what she says, interpreting what she says when I don't understand, learning new words and phrases. Oh the list of great things about this app go on and on. I cannot speak highly enough about Langua Talk, absolutely love it!!

The ultimate language learning app. Every time I log in, there is some useful new feature that I hadn't even thought about but which brings new value to the app. The developers listen closely to the community and keep adding the most popular suggestions.

Due to its focus on speaking, it's probably not for the very beginner learner, but we already have Duolingo for that. As soon as you have a solid speaking foundation, there's honestly nothing better out there, and I've looked at many of the alternatives.

Worth every penny.

Just wanted to say I really enjoy the Langua app and it's a massive step up from duolingo!

I have been teaching myself Italian for more than 20 years. While I'd gotten pretty good at being able to understand the language and maintain very simple conversations, Langua has greatly helped me, especially with improving my grammar and giving me the opportunity to speak the language.
Here are my favorite parts of this app:
1. Being able to save words, phrases and sentences and then review them in "flashcards."
2. Choosing a verb tense and translating the English sentences that "Francesco", my AI tutor gives me, into Italian. Francesco will explain any mistakes I make. He provides some great info.
3. Having conversations with Francesco, using those words saved to flashcards. I find I can end up talking about all sorts of things when doing this exercise. Whether it's my favorite cities in Italy, museums that I've visited there, the place where I live--everything.

The Pro version isn’t worth the money: the app doesn’t adapt to what you’ve already learned, so progress feels generic. The AI tutor is often slow and sometimes switches to the target language too abruptly instead of building up gradually. Overall, not recommended.

LanguaTalk - very impressed
I have been using LanguaTalk for two months and give it an A grade. A few hiccups here and there, but overall it exceeds my expectations.
Many, many, many options for speaking. The voices are realistic and not creepy like some AI programs. You can use the built-in scenarios and provide your own custom ones.
I sense a real earnestness in the company, with a true desire to help language learners.
They are transparent with their roadmap and very open to feedback and suggestions.

Langua is an excellent app, especially for learners who struggle with speaking confidence. Although I can read Italian at around a B2 level, anxiety often makes speaking feel much harder. The friendly, surprisingly personable AI tutors have really helped me build confidence and practise in a low-pressure way- and they are available 24/7!

I love being able to see my mistakes with clear corrections, and the grammar and vocabulary sections are very useful. While my language class is on break, Langua has been perfect for keeping up daily practice. Aside from a few minor teething issues, it’s a fantastic app, with fast and friendly customer service too.

Never detects what I say im guided mode so I'm repeating many times.

About six months ago, I took an online quiz to determine my level in Italian. My score revealed that I was at an A2 level. Today I took another quiz which indicated that I was solidly in the B1 level range.

I have studied Italian between 30 minutes to two hours per day since February. I am not entirely fluent yet but I am getting there thanks to Langua!!!!

What a terrible product. They just put a broken, dysfunctional interface on a large language model that someone else built and charge a subscription for it. I hate it so much. Nothing works.

If you don't know how to say what you want to say in the language you're learning, so you say it in english, and then hit the translate button, it will just copy and paste it again in english. And the AI voice assistant is working completely out of sync with the correction tool. For instance, I am learning Portuguese and I said I was feeling "enfermo" or "sick". It crossed out "enfermo" and changed it to "doente" but then the voice assistant said "sorry you're feeling sick" but she used "enfermo". So how are you going to correct me for misusing a word and then use the same word yourself? Then I come to learn that "enfermo" does mean sick, it's just less commonly used. So rather than explain that, the correction tool just crosses out the word as if it's incorrect. Really unhelpful.

It also doesn't remember your previous conversations, so it always asks the same questions. It's annoying to have to steer the conversations away from always heading in the same direction or repeating identical conversations over and over.

If you try to have it incorporate the vocabulary from your flashcards, it does so in a completely incoherent way and shoehorns in words that make no sense in the context it uses them in.

The "guided" course is a complete joke and it basically just has you repeat a couple words it says to you, except the microphone feature is horrible and cannot understand voice input. I will say a word like"posso" and it will hear "also" and tell me to try again.

Edit: Languatalk tried to flag this review for having "defamatory content". Shady! Maybe you should focus on fixing the problems with your product instead of trying to suppress people who post their experiences with it. Pathetic!

Edit 2: If it were actually defamatory, it would have been removed when you flagged it. Yes, this is an insult to your team. Because if they worked on this product for 2 years and it's still this riddled with bugs and haphazardly implemented features, then that's what they deserve. My review history is completely irrelevant and to bring it up is an ad hominem attack on my character, which is what people do when they don't have a relevant argument. If anything, your response is defamatory, not my review.

Not that it's anyone on this platform's business, but since you decided to air it out for them all to see, yes, I did get a refund for the first month, because you advertise a one month free trial if you are not satisfied, which I took you up on. I decided to give it another chance to see if maybe I wasn't being fair. Wow, the audacity, right? I didn't bother trying to troubleshoot the audio because it was just one of the many issues and I honestly don't see how you can fix something like your AI hearing "also" when I say "posso". Congrats on all your positive reviews. You would think that those would vindicate your product enough that you wouldn't need to attack my character.

"For anyone else reading this, please check the hundreds of genuine reviews from actual learners online." Oh, so because I had a negative experience, I'm not an "actual learner"? What an obnoxious quip. Sorry, that's not how it works. If you want to bask in the glory of your positive reviews, you have to also accept the reality of the negative ones.

The model admits to using OpenAI as a foundation, so calling Langua an interface on someone else's large language model is not defamation. If Langua is helpful for people to learn a new language, it's because Chatgpt is a good language learning resource. The extra features you have implemented (poorly) add little value and cause confusion more often than they help. I deleted all my other reviews because I don't care about them, that's how much I dislike your program and your response.

Frankly, in my opinion your unprofessional response is more telling and detrimental to your brand than any negative review I could ever hope to write. The fact that your youtube video on Langua has comments disabled is also very telling.

As a language teacher, I'd happily recommend Langua over taking lessons with a private tutor. Langua is always available, knows the answer to every question (even with complex grammar), and offers an endless amount of activities and exercises. It's hard to compete with that as a private tutor.

When I started learning Spanish, I used one app for vocabulary, another to practice conjugations, another for podcasts, and a tutor for conversations. With Langua, I can do all of that on one platform and for a reasonable fee (they occasionally offer great discounts). Langua combines these different activities in a way I haven't seen before—for example, when the AI asks you questions based on your personalized flashcards.

There are areas that can be improved, but these are mainly technical. The AI sometimes lags or doesn’t catch your answer correctly, which disrupts the fluency of the conversation. The browser version also looks a bit basic (mobile version looks smooth). However, they are constantly improving the technical side of the platform and adding great new features.

In short, unless it really helps your learning process to make a personal connection with a private tutor, Langua offers far more possibilities to reach your learning goals. Highly recommended!

I’m learning French and the app is very well designed for practicing the language. I really like the audio feedback of the previous lesson feature. That is the real personalized material for you to practice based on the topic you just discussed. It’s very useful.
The customer support is also excellent.

This app was immediatley engaging. The AI chat is not robotic sounding and you can choose from many versions of the language, (spanish). I put the app on my phone and macbook, the vocab drills on the phone are useful, and you can then get text to practice using the new words you learned. It's not cheap but I think there is so much to explore here, it's worth it. You can choose to listen or read the text, any unknown word can be selected for immediate study. With links to podcasts and videos, this should keep it interesting.

Easy to use, user friendly platform. Communication is fast, and effective. No boring and often emails, news or announcements. Client services are fast and understanding. Recommended!
