Parking Ticket

Shocking experience. I went to Thruscross reservoir with some friends and was shocked to see that the car park is no long free (thanks Yorkshire Water…).

My friend paid using card on the machine and input my registration. We went for our walk and returned two and a half hours later.

Two weeks later I received a parking charge notice from Minster Baywatch saying I’d not paid for my visit. My friend had paid £3 for six hours so we were well under our paid time to park. The penalty was £50 but reduced to £25 if paid within 14 days (even though I’d already lost six days by the time the letter got to me).

I appealed this with minster and sent them bank statement from my passenger who paid on my behalf. Minster rejected this saying that my nothing was paid for my registration. They sent me a list of vehicles that had entered and at the time I entered the only vehicle was entered as “SS”. My registration begins with S and my friend did fully input the full registration however I am unable to evidence the ticket as I threw it in the bin, confident we had paid and had no cause to keep the ticket.

My appeal with Minster Baywatch was unsuccessful as they said the ownus is on the driver to ensure correct registration is entered. From reading the reviews below it seems a common theme that Minster Baywatch are frequently saying drivers have not entered the registration correctly. I believe that the machine wasn’t working correctly or Minster are just point blank scamming people.

Minster Baywatch offered a reduced penalty as a gesture of goodwill for £20. Surely this is a sign of them accepting some fault in this case otherwise why would they reduce it. Unless they are just chancing it that people are conned into paying something rather than challenging it.

The car park had three vehicles in there and it would have been greatly obvious the payment made for the registration SS would be intended for my vehicle.

I have appealed this with POPLA however I am not confident from reading their reviews. I will not be going to the reservoir in the future and will be taking this up with Yorkshire Water.

Issued with a parking fine despite…

Issued with a parking fine despite having a parking permit valid from before the fine was issued . Appealed the fine by sending a copy of valid permit which they refused saying there was clear signage . Irrelevant point as i wasn't breaching any conditions being i had an in date live valid permit. Currently under independent appeal. I'm hoping they override this ridiculous decision. Total time wasting process.

Appalling company

Appalling company. Constantly issuing penalties and "Demands for Payment" even though folk are actually entering their correct vehicle details in MBW's tablet
This company appears to be attempting to extort money from folk. They should be shut down

Absolutely disgusting company.

Absolutely disgusting company.
We took our dog there for his last walk before we had to say goodbye to him which was already a devastating day.
We paid for parking and put the ticket in our car.
A few days later we got a charge from minster telling us we had not paid and are to be charged £60 or a reduced fee if paid sooner.
We have been back and forth for the last few months with them regarding this issue. We have sent a copy of the ticket and the bank statement showing we paid the £2 fee for parking.
The registration plate is wrong on the ticket for whatever reason but was not noticed at the time of purchase. It is one number out.
There are CCTV on the car park which would have shown that there was only one other car in the car park at the time.
The fact they have acknowledged that we paid and will agree with my bank statement that we paid on the day but the fact the registration plate is one number out does not matter to them and they want us to pay the £155.
This is an absolutely disgusting company with no heart at all. This has now been passed onto Gladstone solicitors who are even worse to deal with.
We are absolutely distraught that they have done this to us and made a memory which should have been about last moments with our dog into something that has torn us apart.

Minster Baywatch in court of public opinion

This event happened in January 2023. My wife and I went to Neigh Park near Cirencester. She was awaiting a back operation at the time and her mobility was very restricted. Nevertheless we had a dog to walk and she had to exercise as much as possible. This was a flat walk around a lake. It was a dull, cold day. I reckon about two other cars were in the car park. There were three ways to pay. Cash, Via Ringo or by downloading their app. I'm 68 and not tech savvy. I have since learned about downloading apps but over a year ago i needed children to help me. The cash slot was blocked. I phoned Ringo. There was nobody there. I messaged Ringo stating that I was happy to pay and that my number was now available to them to call and get payment. I also said I didn't know how to download an app in a carpark on a dismal January day. My wife was next to me leaning on her zimmer frame and needed to move. Of course the fine arrived later. The camera had caught me. I assumed i was dealing with a company with ethics. I wrote and explained the circumstances and reminded them that I had been in touch from the car park and of my willingness to pay. Without explanation or any hint of having read my appeal it was "denied." I took exception to their indifference and high handedness. There has been no direct, human contact from Minster Baywatch since. However, over a year later I am summoned to Swindon County Court small claims track. The whole process looks intimidating and advice is very difficult to come by from the courts themselves. Telephone calls are not answered by them either. But I am so angry at the way they have treated us that I am going to argue my case. I thank you other people who have shared your reviews and also shared my indignation and offence at being treated in such a shabby manner by Minster Baywatch, I hope you will feel encouraged by the fact that your reviews might actually get used in court by me as evidence of the crass behaviour of this company. Wish me luck!

What an absolute disgrace

What an absolute disgrace. Received a final demand for £155 when I hadn’t even received the initial notice. The notice claimed that I hadn’t paid parking, I appealed and even though I had a ticket and a bank statement to corroborate this, my appeal was denied because I’d allegedly not input my full registration. As a gesture of good will (seriously!!) the fine was lowered to £20 which I paid because I didn’t want to risk a further appeal being rejected and the fine increasing. I have since seen another review claiming the exact same tactics , which suggests this is just a ploy to obtain revenue from those who don’t have the time or energy to argue!
Their aggressive, threatening and then manipulative tactics means that I won’t drive to Crickley Hill ever again for fear of this situation reoccurring!

Sharp Practice

Sharp Practice - Be careful and try to park elsewhere

I was fined despite the Ringo app clearly stating that payment was suspended. Assuming (it was Boxing Day) that no fee was required I didn't pay. Apparently I should have left and not parked at that point. Their issue but my problem.

Parked in Mecca bingo as a customer

Parked in Mecca bingo as a customer, received a £100 fine for doing so. Proved with bank statements we were customers and we were offered a goodwill payment (lucky us) of £20 instead of £100. Appalling appeals process, no access to talk to anyone at all! Awful company. Parked in a car park, was a paying customer at the venue and then got stung for their fines.

Minster Baywatch charged £100 for 15 mins parking

Minster Baywatch charged us £100 (£60 if paid within a certain period of time) for parking for 20 minutes in a private car park in Malton. We entered the car park unintentionally having not being able to find a parking space on the road and having seen a parking sign. We did not realise at first that it was private. We are in our late 70s and were delivering heavy donations of toys (including 2 x wooden sledges) to a free pop up shop for children. We were in the car park for 15 minutes and we both crossed a busy road twice. When we received a Parking charge notice for £100 we sent Minster Baywatch a letter apologising for our error. It explained what had happened and we asked for the charge to be reconsidered. The reply we received paid no attention to our error or to the fact that we were only there for 15 minutes. It insisted that we had parked in contravention of the terms and conditions of the site. With reluctance we have paid the £60 reduced charge, but we think Minster Baywatch has acted without any compassion to two elderly pensioners whose only intention was to visit Malton for charitable purposes.
