I ordered a scaffold and they sent the wrong size. I ordered a particular width of platform for a reason, because of the space it needed to fit in to. Sending me a larger platform isn't an "equivalent" if it doesn't fit the space!
Refusing to rectify or refund. Bank will now have to reclaim the money.

I am UK based, Server is in DK (Denmark)
Hired a log splitter with over a weeks notice, received a call and email 16:00 on the day before delivery the following morning to say it was not available. Call the number back to be told the person who emailed had sent the email and gone home. they cannot explain what changed in the week or why they left it so late to let me know. offered to move the arranged weekend hire to a Monday two weeks later free of charge as a good will gesture.

After feedback another email has been sent. This still does not resolve failed delivery and associated costs.

Absolutely terrible service from…
Absolutely terrible service from Mammoth Tool Hire.
They supplied a faulty digger and a roller that was not what we ordered — it was far too large for the intended job and completely unsuitable for the site. This immediately caused delays.
We were told an engineer would attend within the hour to repair the digger — no one turned up. We were then promised an 8am engineer the following morning — again, no one showed. I am still waiting.
As a result, we have now lost two full days of site work, costing us both time and money. Communication has been just as frustrating — it’s almost impossible to get hold of anyone unless you sit on web chat or stay on hold for over an hour.
Save yourself the stress, time and money — do not hire from this company.

THIS BUSINESS DOES NOT RETURN YOUR DEPOSIT
The equipment was delivered after lunch and had paid £25.00 for am delivery. Delivery was late collected on time. I phoned for deposit return said 21days I advised that is not really legal. Tried to report to Trading Standards could never get a reply on Preston. Advised my bank and completed a form for return of our deposit and £25 for failed delivery time. They are still dealing with it. I am now contacting Action Fraud/Police as they are committing fraud and running an illegal business. They will not return your money. It’s now going onto Facebook and Instagram to let people know not to deal with them in this area Preston/Blackpool so they don’t lose their money too.

I hired a cherry picker from this company in December 2025, and it is not 17th February 2026, and still no deposit back. I can see on here now it is a common issue, and I have had 3 calls to customer service who have stated they will contact accounts.

Don't ignore all the reviews that tell you how poor this company is! Unfortunately I did.
The dehumidifier I hired through National Tool Hire was absolutely useless. I emailed them after a couple of days of a 7 day hire to request a replacement machine. They didn't actually reply until after the period of hire had ended. At that point I asked for some compensation, they gave me nothing, saying that their supplier Edge Equipment Hire told them everything was fine with the machine. It wasn't.

Like so many others on here I have have had money stolen from me by this company in way of an unreturned deposit.
⚠️ Do not rent equipment from these crooks! ⚠️
Message to the company: do not insult me with a response about "21 days" or to contact you on an email address as we are well past the return period and you've ignored all my emails and messages in the last 2 months. I will see you in court if you've not gone out of business by then which looks likely to happen very soon.
Message to the owner(s): grow a pair and fix your company or close it down. Read the reviews here and understand that theft on this scale will eventually catch up with you one way or the other. You should not be running a company and should be struck off as a director so that you cannot do this again. How do you sleep at night?

Reported to Trading Standards, Action Fraud and Money Claim inbound!
I've reported this company to Trading Standards and Action Fraud for failing to return my £500 deposit. I will also be sending a Letter Before Action and submitting a Money Claim online.
Like so many others on here, I am well past the 21 dats they refer to for deposit returns, and now the replies are becoming more and more automated and less and less frequent.
I noticed that since ripping me off they have a shiny new website, probably to attract more flies to the web. Maybe this is what mine and everyone else's deposits have paid for? 🤔
An absolutely disgraceful way to treat 1,000s of customers. The owners and management team should hang their heads in shame, but judging by the automated replies I get to every email, I very much doubt they care, and I wonder if they think the law won't catch up to them eventually. News flash: IT WILL!

Absolute scam
Absolute scam, deposit not returned after nearly two months!!!
Order No 233492 I ordered a scissor lift for a week, got charged £822.78 from which £500 was a deposit which I paid on credit.
I am not £500 in debt paying off what should have been long returned!!
Avoid at all costs these scammers that say 21 days and don’t stick to it!

My hire was returned on 18/12/2025 it is now 11/02/2026 and no deposit has been returned. I have tried contacting them and when you do actually get to talk to a person they just fob you off. I would avoid this company at all costs they need to be investigated via Action fraud.

My card was charged but I didn't get an order confirmation email. I can't login to the website to see my order and no one answers live chat. No idea if the order has gone through or not but I can't afford to order from someone else as there is now a £300+ hole in my bank account.
This website is rubbish and the customer service is even worse.

Not "hassle free" as they claim
I wish I had read these reviews before I used the "service". There are more red flags than a Chinese military parade 🚩🚩🚩
Website didn't work properly when I was ordering because the security certificate had expired
Customer service was slow when I tried to contact them to complete the order
Delivery was 3 days late with no communication or notice
Equipment was dirty and I had to clean it before use
Collection takes "up to 5 days" with no notice of which day it would be on
The price was £10 cheaper than others which wasn't really a saving when you factor in all of the above hassle
