Nearby Taxis Avis 

Used these a few times, I always pre-book but each and every time they are always late, Twice now iv been made to feel extremely uncomfortable by the male drivers, got a taxi last week and the Asian driver started questioning me about my parents, whether I had brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews etc....felt like I should of just gave him all my passwords with the amount of info he wanted, eventually got home and he was watching me walk to my front door while driving away slowly, he only drove away when he saw my husband watching him, any lone female needs to be aware of this taxi company, another driver a few weeks ago made me feel so uncomfortable he was close to getting a face full of deep heat....think he was Hungarian

I'm now so uncomfortable using Nearby that im now refusing to use this company if im by myself

I was double charged for my fare from home to the RVI.
I didn’t realise until I checked my bank account, I contacted nearby and explained the situation, they agreed that I had been double charged and would speak to the manager. No reply.

Great experience, as always! Through no fault of my own, my bank wouldnt allow me to pre authorise payment on my pre-booked airport taxi.
They still turned up at 2.30 in the morning and the lovely Paul loaded our cases, chatted throughout the journey, took cash payment and kindly waited until we were safely inside the house.
A lovely man, Paul is an asset to the company.

Rubbish…didn’t give me a chance to get out the door before he left and I got charged £2.50 cancellation fee

Shocking service, I booked a taxi for 11:30, after 3 further phone calls it turned up 40 minutes late, The driver was lovely but the service is awful.

What a crap company,take your booking then priorities nearest call and leave you waiting half hr,don't bother with them 🤬

Very frightening and upsetting experience. The driver of this taxi, registration number SJ22 PTZ, Skoda Superb, plate number 1175, drove extremely close to my young son at Tesco Express on Kenton Lane, putting him in serious danger.

I asked the driver to stop and wait so that I could safely cross the road with my child, but instead he continued driving and started swearing at me. My young son was so frightened that he was shaking afterwards.

No parent should have to experience this. A professional taxi driver should show care and patience, especially around young children and pedestrians.

I have reported this incident to Newcastle City Council Licensing Team and asked them to investigate.

I ordered a taxi from South Tyneside hospital at 4:30 am on the 7 July 2026 after being discharged after treatment. I got into the taxi and was sexually assaulted by the driver. I reported it to the police and the taxi company .. this dangerous man is still working for nearby taxis... So if you're a vulnerable woman please be careful . I will never use them again

I prepaid my taxi to the airport, was told no extra fee to pay at the pre pay, after getting out of the taxi, money was taken from my card WITHOUT my consent!

I booked a taxi for Bank Holiday Monday night.It was booked two days previously. At the end of the night , at the agreed time , no cab arrived. I contacted "nearby " , only to be told that the booking was cancelled. News to me.This resulted in someone, who couldn't stay over , due to medical issues , having to walk home.This was a journey of three miles ,and at 11pm.DO NOT BOOK with them. They offered an apology but didn't seem too bothered by it all.

I had a vague idea where Brabyns was and knew getting the bus would be time consuming so I booked a taxi. I was expecting to be dropped off at the door but my driver turned onto a dirt path. While I was suggesting that we back up onto the main road, he was doing a search on his phone. Then he suggested that I get out and walk as it’s “only 9mins away “ and he ignored my further suggestion to back out of the dirt road. Fortunately it was a nice day and I wasn’t too late for my class, but I don’t book a taxi and expect to hike the last part of the journey.

Use this taxi service whenever we need a cab and usually most of the drivers are great, friendly and very helpful which is always appreciated until yesterday 12March. Taxi pulls up and he sits there watching while I make my way to the car with my husband carrying my oxygen tank and then he had to go and get my wheelchair to go into the boot, on drop off I told him to take a further £2 tipp and boy I wished I hadn't because once again he just stood there and watch my husband who has really bad rheumatoid arthritis get the chair from the boot and bring it round to me so I could get straight in it because of the weather being dreadful. Really think this company needs to talk to some of their drivers because the likes of them are making it look bad. Most drivers would have received 5 stars

Thank you to prince today. My daughter has autism and when it showed on the app
that our taxi was a Tesla. She was so excited. He showed her how it drives automatically and let her take a photo of the car. She was amazed how quiet it was with being electric. She was asking what the fastest it could go. He told her it could go very fast. Sorry Lisa and Gary lol you’re not her favourite now (just kidding) I’m sure she will still enjoy seeing Lisa and Gary. She will be telling you’s all about her trip today.

Ordered a taxi via the app (supposed priority). After 25 min no driver assigned so rang and he said maybe 10mins, 20mins later still no driver and hung up the phone when I rang. 1 hour later, no assigned driver and the lady I spoke to didn't even know I was waiting!

Never had an issue before with this company but if they had told me it was going to be over an hour wait, I would never would have booked/prepaid... Restaurant booking also cancelled since I ended up 30mins late by the time I got there. Thanks!

Honestly what is the point of this taxi service? Booked a 6 seater taxi and a 4 seater turned because of Ramadan no 6 seaters available. So why Have the option of a 6 seater?? Happy to take your money but when confronting them on the phone they deny you ever booking a 6 seater taxi. What a disgrace!!! Will never use these again and advise that nobody ever does. No wonder they have a 1.9 star rating!!!!

They need to put zero stars on these reviews. Total LIARS this company is. All taxis are under this firm. Im trying to find a way of not using them. Last month they made me late for a hospital appointment. Today, I had to cancel a vet appointment.
I do book in advance and call them leading up to the booking. They say everything is fine and on time. I can't swear here but think of every 4 letter swear word and the put liars after the word. Im so 😠.

What is the point in booking in advance if the taxi doesn't come until 30 mins after the pick up time? Customer service were about as useful as a chocolate fire guard, me- "Hi, my booking was created over 20 mins ago are there any taxi's available yet?" Customer Service - "A driver has not been assigned yet". Tell me something I don't know Sherlock Holmes. Ridiculous. The only reason I still use this service is because I can't stand Uber.

Waited over an hr for a taxi still waiting . Deleted app. 2 hrs later and it never arrived. Rang about 10 times, customer service shocking. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER

My friend is having chemo and got a Nearby taxi from Newcastle city to her home - when she asked the driver if he could help lift her very light bag onto the pavement he refused point blank - sat there ignorantly! Disgusting service

The journey itself was fine but it was a return journey. On the way in I was charged £13 by Budget Taxis but £18 for exactly the same journey back by Nearby Taxis. I won't be using them again - what a rip-off.
