Ordered Oak planks for a pergola - bit disappointed.
Ordered Oak planks for a pergola. The thickness and width of the planks varied considerably eg with a stated thickness of 50mm the actual ranged from 46-55mm meaning that all notching had to be bespoke to each plank- difficult to do at height when the planks are 15kg. More bark on planks than expected, some significant splitting at ends of some planks and one section with void. Needed to modify design to avoid sub-standard parts of wood.

Good product poor communication.
The products are excellent, but the delivery information was not so good. My delivery was delayed, and I was provided with incorrect information. The driver had an issue with driving hours, causing a delay, and I was only made aware of this by the driver, who arrived after 6 pm.

I did purchase 3 oak beams 150m x 150mm…
I did purchase 3 oak beams 150m x 150mm x 2.5m and paid £ 139.00 for each + delivery .
When the beams arrived one of them was a bad quality and damaged once I reported the staff told they will refund 50% of the £ 139.00 which i agreed after one week they send me £ 23.00 as refund.not happy at all won,t recommend anyone to buy from this company.

We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy, that’s never what we want for our customers.
You ordered three fresh-sawn green oak beams. After delivery you contacted us about one beam with a small chipped area on the edge. The other two beams were not reported as faulty. As explained on our website and in our emails, fresh-sawn green oak is a natural product and can have waney edges, colour variation, knots and surface marks. These are normal characteristics of this type of timber.
As a goodwill gesture, we offered a 50% refund for the single beam you reported, not for the whole order. We explained this in writing (referring to “the product in question / the claimed piece”), and you confirmed that you agreed. The £23.00 refunded represents 50% of the value of that one beam.
We’re sorry if this was not clear enough at the time, there was no intention to mislead you. If you’d like to discuss this further, please contact us at info@oakmax.co.uk or by phone and we’ll be happy to talk.
