Dreadful
Dreadful. Bought a Relyon ‘Pendleton’ from a well known quality retailer in Canterbury. It dipped really badly within 6 weeks. Was told when it was inspected it was normal! What a joke, my ten year old mattress was in better condition. Now almost a year on it has only got worse and has an enormous hump in the middle (My husband and I are both lightweights!). Now has to be replaced. A complete waste of money.
RELYON MATTRESS - All sounds very familiar
All sounds very familiar. Deformation after well short of a year and now becoming rather uncomfortable; Ortho Pocket ha ha!. Dean from Castelan inspected today on behalf of Relyon using Relyon’s prescribed “methods”. All reeks of judge and jury so won’t end well. Suspect the retailer, Oldrids Downtown Grantham, would like to stay in the shadows.
Update 7 Aug. After 2 months and a bit of prompting Downtown have reported that no “manufacturing faults” were identified in the mattress inspection; two fairly large permanent sink holes and a ridge down the middle of the mattress are normal apparently.
On 11April 2025, the Judge at the small claims court upheld my claim and I received a full refund and costs.
Don't waste your money
Bought this mattress from land of beds in wigan the lady who sold us this highly recommended Reylon. Paid $800 as it was on offer at the time it was Easter It was delivered with a tiny amount of blood or something similar on it. I went back to the shop and was told to contact the manufacturer. I left it a week because of my holidays then contacted them to be told I need to pay 60 for someone to come out and inspect it . They also said to me why has it taken you a week to report it and how do you know it's blood and also who in their right mind would sleep on a mattress with blood on . I had no choice to as I had just moved house from lodging with friends so I had no bed to begin with. The 60 pound was 90 at first for the technician to inspect but I don't think this is fair and didn't pay. 16 weeks later the mattress is terrible, you have to rotate it every week, I wasn't told this at the time but luckily read the leaflet. After a few days you can see depressions where we have slept but still continued to turn it as required. I contacted them again bit no joy they say it will settle...its not. It looks like ther is a big hump in the middle. This is the most expensive mattress I have ever bought and very disappointed. I can't see it lasting because of the big lump in the middle.
Relyon Ullswater with Topper- terrible quality materials
We bought a £1000 Relyon Ullswater, top of the range mattress with topper section. However, after only 3 weeks (!) the areas where lay became lumpy, compacted and uncomfortable to lie on. Basically the wrong material has been used inside the topper as it has no springiness and compresses into long lumpy rolls of fabric inside. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM AS IT VERY POOR QUALITY AND NOT DURABLE AT ALL. The company should be ashamed. In contrast our Hypnos Ortho 1600 has lasted perfectly over 10 years with excellent springiness still, so we luckily we are able to exchange it for a Hypnos.
Bought an Ortho Rely On Matress top of…
Bought an Ortho Rely On Matress top of the range less than a year ago from Belfast Beds Ipswich. My wife and I turn matress regularly but after a night's sleep matress has depressions both sides and after less than a year buttons are coming off the matress. Rely On made a "whitewash" inspection via a freelance upholsterer who claimed matress was OK. Rely On have no customer care team and pass buck back to retailer.
I would advise people to avoid Rely On Ortho Matresses at just under 1k cost to avoid possible similar situation. Seemingly cannot rely on Rely On !
Relyon do not provide any help…
Relyon do not provide any help whatsoever. They charge to come to see mattress only to tell you it is your fault. I keep insisting that there is a mound in the middle, only to be told to pay again and they will send someone again. They advertise best mattresses in the world. Absolute rubbish
Dreadful uncomfortable mattress!
Dreadful, expensive, uncomfortable mattress. We were told by Mattressman, avoid them too, that they were extremely high end. If you buy the pillow top it reduces the size of the mattress, which they don’t tell you when you buy it, not great for tall people. The mattress has dipped badly. We stopped sleeping on it after a couple of months. They sent someone to inspect it but he told me that he worked for Relyon, basically saying it wasn’t going to go my way, and wasn’t interested in my problems with the mattress. We now sleep on a Simba and it was cheaper and is far more comfortable.
Disgusting - But don't forget Section 75 Consumer Credit Act
Moving into our forever home we treated ourselves to a Relyon Sofia Super King Mattress - what we thought would be a quality product.
Four years later the mattress had collapsed on one side. We had purchased the bed from Canterbury Beds who have since closed down due to retirement, however we knew that the issue should be covered by Relyon with their eight year warranty.
I contacted them direct and was told that an 'independent' assessment would be made.
A company called Castelan sent a chap out, who told me that "it wasn't his decision", but in his view the dip in the mattress was at the maximum of his scale and indeed wasn't fit for purpose.
Imagine my surprise (or not after reading many similar experiences on TrustPilot) when I heard back from Relyon that there was nothing wrong with the mattress! I mentioned what the assessor had said and Relyon forwarded over the report - stating that there was no manufacturing fault?!
At this point I approached Barclaycard - as I had made the original purchase using this card and as such was covered by Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. The process involved arranging another independent assessment, (at a cost of £66 which Barclaycard said would be reimbursed no matter what the outcome was).
This assessment duly took place, I was told that the mattress had broken springs! The report came through, was submitted along with the invoice for the assessment - and I have now received a full refund - Thank you Barclaycard.
Disgusting customer care from Relyon a once reputable company. Steer Clear.
If you are having the same issue and paid (even in part) on a credit card, please contact your card company who should be able to help.

Having a Relyon mattress is better than vispring, hypnos, i've had them all and can safely say money well spent. Got the Emperor in soft for me and medium for my partner superking zip and link, we love it so much we have exported them abroad to our holiday properties. Been supporting this brand for over 50 years now and never once had a issue. heavily recommend by us.
Amazing mattress
Amazing mattress. We went for the cool gel 2400 and the surface is sooo comfortable and cooling that is great for me as i generate a lot of heat. really comfortable and great for us as side and back sleepers. I would definitely recommend them.
I love my Relyon mattress and can…
I love my Relyon mattress and can honestly say its the best investment I have ever made in myself, as without a good quality nights sleep what have you truly got? This has restored my faith in deep sleep and the pillow top is the most comfortable option I have ever had on a mattress.
By far the best beds in the world
By far the best beds in the world, I have been a huge fan of this company as its mattresses are truly exceptional and the finest quality. With nearly 160 years of true comfort craftsmanship and luxury. Best thing I have ever brought is my pillow top Relyon mattress. They last a lifetime
Unfortunate bad mattress & service
Unfortunate we have a very bad experience with the Relyon Mattress quality and the client service. We bought a super Kingsize Relyon Mattress £1250 with attached topper. Within weeks we had a stretched laying dips in the mattress even though we had to turn the very heavy mattress every week. (They told us with delivery. We are pensioners) The topper is attached to the mattress with yarn knots secured with a plastic tag with the ends facing up. The stretched laying dips and the buttons that are secured with tags make it very painful to lie down. You can feel them. When we complained about it we first had to take pictures of our mattress and later more and send them by email to the store where we bought the mattress. We had to wait a long time for an answer and went to the store. Eventually there would send an independent technical inspector to come to our home. Another long wait for the results. After inquiring, we were finally sent the report that the store already had. You'd never guess it, the report was printed on Relyon Head Paper. What do you mean an independent inspection?? The judgement?? We had not turned the mattress and found no further other defects. Conflict of Interest 100% 😩 Feel cheated
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID
I am giving this 1 star as there is no option for ZERO.
Bought a Woolsack mattress and a new base from an online company (my beef is not with the middleman). Relyon it seems, do not deal with their disgruntled customers themselves, of which I see from these reviews there are many.
After trying many mattresses in stores we chose the Woolsack mattress, expensive but with an 8 year guarantee, hopefully made to last. How wrong was I! After, less than 12 months it started to dip and sag. The buttons that go through the mattress were so poorly covered that the plastic toggles were poking through causing stab marks on the skin. I tried to ignore it as it was a considered purchase for us, but finally my 'other half' complained about it giving him back ache. Mailed, the supplier, after finding Relyon don't have Customer Service, sent photos etc, to be told that Relyon considered this to be normal wear and tear, to turn the mattress weekly instead of 3 monthly and to buy a topper to address the issue with the toggles!! So we spent another £250 9on a decent Simba topper, which has sorted that problem but the dipping worsened despite turning weekly (lucky I have 2 strong boys in the house, as this is no easy feat). Complained again in July, and an Assessor was sent out from an insurance company, no doubt employed indirectly by Relyon? He bent the mattress convexly over the base, hit the sides of the mattress with his fists all round, then took his measurements with weighted string and a cardboard measure that wouldn't even stand up straight in the dips. Unsurprisingly, the verdict was 'within normal limits' from Relyon.
I have now been told that this assessment will not affect my guarantee (which has suddenly become 15y) should the mattress be found to be defective in the future??? I can't sleep on it for the next 13 odd years...it is off to the tip as soon as I can find another, which will be a cheap one! This whole rigmarole has cost just over £1600, for around 10/11 months decent sleep.
Mattress packaging
Please can you tell me how you roll your Relyon Bee Relaxed Mattress to your suppliers? I have received a mattress from your supplier at Mattress Online.
The mattress is rolled unevenly and is tight from the bottom and coming out the top. I have seen rolled memory foam and they are rolled like an insulation roll evenly.
Since it went into administration in…
Since it went into administration in 2020, it's a mere shadow of it's former self. Quality has been replaced by survival mode & it shows. At one time I wouldn't buy or recommend any other mattress brand, those day's are long gone for Relyon. After sales/customer service are a "rude and feral department". Still the land will make a nice housing estate for the directors to sell shortly.
I purchased a Relyon Chatsworth in soft…
I purchased a Relyon Chatsworth in soft tension back in 2005 and I have NEVER slept on a more comfortable bed in my life. After 18 years it is clearly sagging and needs to be replaced - sadly the Chatsworth is only available as medium and firm now, so I'll probably go for the Seaton.
Similar story to other consumers
Similar story to other consumers, my mattress started sagging after a couple of years and before the end of the guarantee. An independent company was instructed by relyon to examine the bed, I was informed by relyon the mattress condition was within its specification. In reality the mattress, which was very expensive, has a huge dip in the middle, and will be heading for landfill.
Indifferent to their customers.
I bought a Relyon bed in September 2022, after taking advice from the salesman in Fenwicks, Kingston. I told him I had neck and back problems and he went straight to a Serenade model, which after a discount, cost me £1462.00. This model had an inbuilt topper. I followed all the instructions regarding how often it should be rotated. After about 8 months I noticed the topper dipped, and remain dipped, wherever I slept. Eventually, I went back in person to Fenwicks - their customer complaints department was useless - who took this up with Relyon. Someone came to inspect it, and the upshot was it was down to “ wear and tear.” After 8 months? I only weigh 8 stone 5. Fenwicks, to be fair, did try to be helpful and I can't fault them. But my only option now is to throw the mattress away and replace it. Beware dealing with Relyon and don't buy a mattress with a fixed topper.
Woolsack mattress smells of sheep…
Woolsack mattress still has significant sheep odour 3 months after purchase. Castelan independent service technician sent by Relyon commented on the odour when he came out to review the bed but his report stated no odour detected! Relyon said on the basis of the report they accept no manufacturing fault therefore nothing they could do. The mattress still smells of wool that in my opinion has not been treated sufficiently well during manufacture and I will not purchase from this Company again and will cannot recommend them
