I recently went to buy goat meat and specifically asked the butcher if it was goat. He confirmed that it was, so I purchased 2 kg. When I got home and cooked it, I quickly realized the meat was actually lamb. It was extremely fatty and nothing like goat meat. I had planned to make curried goat for my son to take home with him, but the dish turned out too greasy and he didn’t even want it.
A friend later told me she no longer buys meat from this shop because they mix goat and lamb. It's completely dishonest. Customers trust that they are being sold exactly what they are paying for.
It makes you start to question what is really being sold. If they are willing to mislabel goat and lamb, who knows what else they might be selling? That kind of behavior destroys customer trust.
They used to have many customers, but now people are finding out and choosing to shop elsewhere. It’s such a shame. Customers deserve honesty and transparency.

Oi oi Saveloy

Fabulous, I live in N.Ireland where Saveloys are non existent, finally after years of trying to source Saveloys, Rox Meats stepped up. OMG, it's been 40+ years since I last had a proper Saveloy and they didn't disappoint.

Total rip off

Following my last order Lamd Shank, I am really sorry to inform that i was not happy at all because it was more than a rip-off. the porsions of Lamd Shank are so small and i put them under the scale some where 85g,I have tried to contact roxmeat explainning the issue no replay at all.I have pictures and videos to send again.it was a real shame as I have paid for 12 porsions and I run a business how would you explain that to a customer...on the other hand the delivery tooks more than the usual really real rip off you are, i will ask customer to check the shank's weight when you get them on the post total rip off...

Do not use!

Do not use! First online order arrived with a large amount of sleepy flies within the sealed cardboard shipping box which was blamed on delivery company, second order for Christmas, the £60 ham went blue in the fridge within two days ( still packed and had over two weeks left on the use by date), one of the 2.5kg chicken thighs was rotting when opened, a pack of what was supposed to be back bacon which was more like strings of fat was also letting off a terrible smell after defrosting having been in the freezer for only two weeks. No refund was given, just a good will gesture of a £50 credit on the website. 3rd try lucky, 5kg of bone in free range chicken thighs ordered. Arrived on time packed well, only to cut them open and them not be chicken thighs at all, it was a mass of spine and what i can only guess as being part of the wing and not the thigh at all. Literally inedible as it was just bone and skin. Very disappointed with customer service from Arnold who claims all the issues are because the company has been taken over. Excuse after excuse having spent £100's with them. I will not be returning and advice the same to others!!

Best Lamb steak I’ve ever had.

We visited this butchers on Saturday 3rd of Feb and boy did we choose the right day. We was greeted with freshly cooked sausage rolls and beef, stuffing and gravy Yorkshire puddings. Rox is such a modern feeling butchers and there selection of meats was on a grand scale. So much so it was hard to choose what meat we wanted, let alone what cut. After asking the very pleasant and helpful staff what they recommended, we finally decided on taking home some chicken shish kebabs and 2 large lamb steaks (for me personally). The kids devoured the chicken kebabs and left no room for desserts which is unheard of in this house. The Lamb steaks are why I feel I need to post this review, I’ve been thinking about them since I ate them last night. In fact I’m gutted I didn’t buy myself 2 more for today. We will be visiting again soon, hopefully on another day they are serving tasters.

Great Service.

Visted Rox this morning after hearing it was under new management, what a lovely experience it was, the Staff were great and everyone was friendly, got some great deals and lovely food, will definitely be back soon!!!

Excellent butchers

Visited today for the new management opening, fabulous team in a lovely clean and inviting shop. Tried some of the tasters and was very impressed - a wide selection of competitively priced meats available with knowledgeable staff on hand.

Rox meat is under new management

Rox meat is under new management. The environment is bright, fresh and inviting. Staff are helpful and polite. I was extremely impressed with the variety and freshness of the produce. The price is affordable for the quality of the produce.

ROTTEN MYSTERY PRODUCT AND NOT ITEMS I PAID FOR

NO STARS

Ordered 11 lamb shanks and what I received was not even fit for a dog. They weren't even lamb shanks. What they sent had more fat, bone, sinew and offal than meat. It was a day late and when it was delivered on a Saturday for use that day, the actual shop had already closed. I called them, a woman answered and told me to bring it back. So she wanted me to keep their whatever it was in my fridge/ freezer and return it tobe sold to another unsuspecting customer. When I raised this with her, she then claimed it would be put in the bin. So why ask me to drive 10 mimes at my expense to return it? Never mind my cost to store the mystery stuff in the 1st place. Woman then said my refund has now been processed. Called back on Tuesday, same woman said I need to return the mystery stuff before getting refund. She claimed to be a different person yet she repeated what the "other" woman said in the conversation from Saturday verbatim🤔. She said she'd get manager to call me. No call to this day and all emails and subsequent calls go unanswered.

Rox Meat You didn't email me when you said over the phone it was ready to be collected and you know it and I can prove it. The day you did email me, I called you and said I was on my way. You closed half an hour too early 🙃. There were no failed 2 collections. More lies. I sent my daughter the following day and this is what you gave me. I have been telling you all along that I took pictures of what you sent the very moment I opened it and received it. You know, on Saturday afternoon. You told me to bring it back because it's expensive "meat" I said to you. " You want to sell this to someone else and that even McDonald's, when they get their order wrong don't take it back because you can't trust the home from where it's come from to be safe to pass to another customer. You told me you'll refund me. I called you back and 6 times you told me I'd been refunded. Fast forward a few days, the same woman I spoke to, told me she was not the same person yet repeated the entire conversation back to me verbatim but said that I'd not been refunded. Klarna are involved as you well know as I've emailed and told you so but you don't respond. You've told me your manager will call me. That never happened. Just like, after, lie, after lie. And now you seriously want to claim that I've stayed in my house, with my children for all this time, in the heat with your meat rotting and stinking up my house. 🥴. That's absolutely, ridiculous and absurd. I kept the box too. Everything, just sitting somewhere, to bring vermin in my home. That's beyond crazy. Contact the police. I've already contacted the relevant parties I need to. I've done everything right and I even have recordings of all our conversations. I gave you ample time to resolve the issue and you didn't. You still haven't replied to my emails. The fact that you are accusing me of emailing you racial slurs and posting that all over Facebook is abhorrent. I asked you to post them on my thread as I have done with my evidence and you haven't. I told you to put them up complete with email address, time and date and you haven't. Why? Because they don't exist. I told you to post them, let the police trace the IP address. You haven't. I posted my pictures and proof and other people have commented saying you sell rotten meat. I'm more than happy to go to court and follow up with the outcome on here.
You say you have CCTV footage of me collecting the meat and checking it. I'm assuming you're claiming to have been able to identify me from my picture on my email. Well I've never been to your shop. I sent my mixed race daughters. So your lies just keep adding up.

Dear Customer,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to provide further details regarding a recent experience related to an order of 11 lamb shanks collected exactly a month ago.

You placed the order on the 22nd of August and upon collection, we took measures to ensure the order's accuracy and quality. You failed to collect your order on 2 separate occasions and each time the order was prepared fresh for you on the day. We had members of our staff waiting for you passed opening hours to collect your order and you still did not show up. Then finally the day you decided to collect which was on the 26th of August, you sent someone else after closing time and we had to reopen the factory to reprepare the order for you last minute which is something we did out of a goodwill gesture. The lady you sent to collect the order also checked the items before leaving the premises as it was prepared in front of her, and she was happy with it. She was even thankful for preparing the order last minute and apologetic for the last 2 failed collections, We have CCTV in our premises which can confirm all of the above. Later, we received a call stating that the order was incorrectly cut, the freshness and quality was never put into question. We immediately offered to rectify the situation by requesting a picture or inviting the customer to return the items for inspection so we could provide the correct order, which she refused to do stating that she would keep the meat because we would like to sell it to another person which is NOT true as we just wanted to investigate and find out what the issue was. Wherever you order anything, on any website you are asked to return the product if you are unhappy with it, or at least share a picture so we can see what the issue is. In this instance this is the first time that we ever see a picture of the product which is not what we supply you with. Furthermore, this order was placed a month ago and prepared fresh on that day. We received fresh meat product on the daily, straight from the slaughterhouse, we do not keep old stock as we are a very busy meat processing plant. If the meat had gone off as claimed, whoever collected the order would have definitely smelt it. This order was placed and paid with KLARNA and so far, we’ve not received any notification from them in relation to this incident as it was KLARNA that would have refunded you.
In light of this, we have now contacted our solicitor to issue proceeding for defamation as well as contacting the police for all the insults and racial slurs that were emailed to us received from yourself as well as threats to our admin team.
We’ve been serving the local community for over 25 years; our hygiene rating is 5 stars and we’ve always put our customers first and have always tried to resolve any issues encountered in a timely manner. Reviews of the sort are untrue and aimed to hurt our local business. Our shop in Eltham is pristine and all our customers who shop there can vouch for it. You are requesting a refund for an order you placed a month ago and for meat you kept to go off and now claimed it was sold off to you. You would be soon hearing from our solicitors and the police soon.

Awful service

Awful service. Im a repeat customer of theirs, my latest order did not arrive and rather than try to be helpful they spent all saturday afternoon arguing with me and pointing their finger to Parcelforce (as if that should be the customers headache). The refused to redeliver or give a refund (i ended up doing a charge back on the CC).. they asked me to go pick up the parcel from some depot with unspecified location. Seriously? The parcel was redeliverd a few days later, the ice had melted, the meat was off and stinking, the delivery guy wouldnt even take it to the door, my gf had to carry this heavy box upstairs in my absence only to get rotten meat when she opened it. Not even an apology from these guys, seriously. It could all have been prevented so easily and they'd retain a loyal customer,. Just ridiculous. Stay away

We are very sorry that you missed your delivery on your parcel which was unfortunately redelivered to you today.

You've placed your second order with us on Friday Morning, which was fulfilled and dispatched on the next day on an Express 24 courrier service with Parcelforce.
You parcel was indeed delivered as promised by us on the following day, but unfortunately you missed the delivery and the driver took your parcel back to the depot.

You called us and complained about the situation and we apologised and explained to you that we have no control over Parcelforce operations. Once a parcel is dispatched like with any othe parcels, we can only monitor the delivery progress via tracking and cannot change/amend the course of a delivery as it's out of our control. we've explained it to you. You asked us to call the delivery company asked for a redelivery on the day. We would like to believe that most people are well aware that once a parcel or package has an attempt delivery most driver would leave a card which either would tell you where to collect your parcel from or to arrange redelivery. You were rude to a member of our team as well as swearing and you would not listen when we were trying to provide you with guidance. We explained to you that the only way for you to recover your parcel was to locate the local royal mail/parcelforce depots to attempt to retrieve this parcel which you flat out denied. We are very sorry but there was no other options on our end to handle this unfortunate situation which we took time to explain to you and you would not listen.

You place a very first order with us, and later on requested this order to be dispatched to a different address than previously booked for, which we've done and you were very happy with the service and the speed provided. Your placed a second order and asked for it to be delivered next day which we, again, fulfiled it with great customer service. You do mention on this review that we blamed it on parcelforce, however we are unable to see how else we could have handle this situation. Your order was place on a Friday morning, was dispatched a few hours later on the same day and was at your door the next day, that's a 24h turnaround which is as speedy as it can get. unfortunately you were not in your home and the order was returned to the depot, which is something out of our control. we would not be able to know or contact which parcelforce driver did not do their job properly. We did not dispatch you rotten meat, it was sent fresh, prepared on the day but unfortunately "mishandled" by a third party courier which resulted on the products going off.

As you can see on our profile, we also have very happy customers with our products and services, we supply nationwide, retail and wholesaler and have always aspired to provide A star service.

Outdid themselves to rectify a missing order

I had an issue with items I had ordered (the same item on two different occasions) where they weren’t sent by the supplier. Today they bent over backwards to help and ensured I received this order on time.

Prices beware

Preordered meat joint for Christmas and paid deposit and made collection date. However when my daughter picked up the meat she paid the remainder which when she got back to me I told her she was overcharged. I emailed Rox meat straightaway and they did get back to me. Their comments were that prices fluctuate (understandable but I was not informed of this when I made my order and paid the deposit). They said that they would refund the difference (about £13) as a gesture of goodwill. As was so close to Christmas Day I emailed back to arrange to get sorted but never heard back from them again. Shame
