My 12 month business contract comes to an end shortly and I was initially contacted by Ben, who was very persistent. He quoted me £6 p/d standing charge! This would have been totally non viable for my small business. I'm aware of current fluctuations in energy costs but I felt that Ben was scaremongering and putting pressure on me.
I eventually spoke to Thabo. After much negotiation he quoted me less than £1 standing charge and a fixed contract.
I would have awarded zero stars if it wasn't for Thabo's polite and friendly manner.

As a small business owner, this experience has been extremely disappointing.
We have recently been informed of a significant increase in our electricity costs, particularly the daily standing charge, which has risen by over 40%. This level of increase feels completely disproportionate and poorly justified.
While we understand that wholesale markets fluctuate, the explanation provided does not adequately account for such a steep rise in fixed charges — costs which businesses have no control over and must absorb regardless of usage.
The lack of transparency around how these charges are calculated is concerning, and it leaves customers feeling as though they are simply expected to accept ongoing increases without question.
For small hospitality businesses already operating with tight margins, changes like this have a direct and meaningful impact.
I would strongly encourage other business owners to review their contracts carefully and explore alternatives before committing.

I understand that TNUoS charges are a contributing factor; however, the explanation provided still lacks the level of detail required to justify a standing charge increase of this scale.
To better understand this, could you please provide:
• The previous and current TNUoS cost applied to my account
• The percentage increase in TNUoS charges for this period
• A full breakdown of how the standing charge is calculated, including all components
At present, the increase appears significantly higher than what would reasonably be expected from network cost adjustments alone.
As a business customer, it’s important for me to clearly understand what proportion of this increase is directly attributable to regulated charges versus supplier-applied costs.
I would appreciate a detailed breakdown so I can properly assess this.

Absolute scammers. I received an email on the 24th March to say my business electric is going up by 50%. And this increase was to take effect from the 15th of March. The must Inform customers before a price incease not after!!! Will be taking this further. Discusting! Scammers!!!

Ruby is unworkable for us
I think we might be in a specific scenario but Ruby is not working for us and is a massive pain.
I work for a letting company. A site is vacant and in between lettings. It has required some work so is vacant longer than we would like. The gas meter has not been used in this time. I took a reading/picture and sent it in when we took it on. Another 3 months later and no change to the reading. Usually utility companies register no usage and start estimating no usage. But not Ruby. They piled on the usage raising a bill for hundreds of pounds. Taking money from us they have no right to. I am unable to enter a reading because it requires a new picture each time but i don't visit the site often.
I am very frustrated. An operator told me once the meter could be flagged as static but he never fulfilled the request.
