Ordered a tracker for my dog

Ordered a tracker for my dog. Downloaded the app tried to log in, gave them my email address put in the password for my email account then tried to use the verification code.
Is an 0 an0 or is it an O, are the letters upper or lower case, or doesn’t it matter?
Telephoned everyone busy, sent an email, reply now received but the “support team” are looking into it.
Nothing seems to be working as it should, just like all the other negative comments on Trustpilot.

Super happy Cat Mama, with peace of mind!

Really really happy with my trackers. I bought two, as I have two naughty cats who like to explore the local farmers land and play in the barns!

Firstly, they are super light unlike some trackers, and not uncomfortable for my cats to wear at all. Both my cats are small and have no trouble with them, barely noticed they’re there!

Initially setting them up was a bit difficult as some others have found, they were struggling to connect. But this was no big issue at all - I got straight on to the help desk to help me get started. Within minutes I had a very friendly and helpful Theo on the chat function of the website, happy to help and fix my trackers!!

Since Theo fixed my trackers, I have had great signal from both tracking devices, tested out properly last night when going to collect said naughty cats for their tea! Both were in the exact position shown on my app, super easy work!

First one faulty, good customer care afterwards

***UPDATE 2*** Caitlin sent me a new one within 24 hours, and it works- it was very good customer service so I have revised my rating***UPDATE: a kind member of their customer service team- Caitlin- has sent me a new one and i'm trying that. Even if this one doesn't work, she could not have been more helpful ****-this was written when the first one didn't work : (I took the advice of a fellow dog walker rather than checking the reviews on here. Mistake. The device a) doesn't charge (there's supposed to be a flashing light- not on mine), and b) tells me that my device isn't connected to the internet, even though it very clearly is. I also bought two years subscription.)

this has been a nightmare

this morning I received a call and the issue seems to have been resolved thanks to a very helpful member of staff. All this could have been avoided had my initial call been answered

this has been a nightmare. i purchased the devise a week ago and haven't been able to connect to the device once despite phoning every single day and leaving countless messages and email no one has contacted me to offer me the slightest bit of help. This product was to reduce my anxiety over my pets safety and it's done the exact opposite. it's shambolic non-existing customer service is a disgrace.

product need rethinking

This trader is selling services which they do not provide as advertised on the website. The pet tracker product is useless, unable to connect which requires technical support and we are unable to access communication with the seller.

Just don't bother

I purchased mine on the 9th September 2022 and have had nothing but issues with it since day one.
Setting it up was not as described, called there customer services to leave a message as no one ever answers, to never receive a call back.
Now I have had it less than a week and its now not connecting and won't turn off as described in fact its not even going to make a good paper weight.
I purchased this along with a full 12 month subscription. I wish I had never got this device as its been nothing but issue after issue.
I will be in touch for a full refund as this is not good enough by any standard.

Unfortunatly one of the worst customer…

Unfortunatly one of the worst customer services i have had the misfortune to come across. Purchaced the produce from Amazon to track my dog, set up the subscription and paid the fee. The product never worked and the app just kept saying "Not connect to the internet" then spend 3 days calling a number that just goes to voicemail and emailing with a auto responce saying they would get back to me .... they never did! Going through the process of trying to get me money back through my bank as i write. Dont touch them!
17/08/2022 - Typically as the review hit Trustpilot received a call from a very pleasent opperator with an apology explaining that they had been hit by staff shorages and could she fix this problem for me. Unit working now and apears to work well.

Absolutely terrible do not buy this

Absolutely terrible, i would not buy if i were you, the accuracy was very poor and the battery life was worse, my cat lost the unit, dont worry i thought its a tracker, i can track it...
But as usual the battery had run out again despite charging the night before, and would prob not have found it as id have been looking in the wrong place. They offered me a replacement unit at a cost of £15 but it was so poor i wouldnt replace it, but now they will not cancel the 5 year subscription unless I pay £120 cancellation fee, so im stuck with a crappy unit i need to pay more money for or a 5 year subscription for something I dont have DO NOT BUY **at the very least the charge should last 2 days, it didnt last 24 hours! It was not accurate, when the tracker said she was out she was asleep in the lounge. I understand you offered me a buyout but this was just the remaining 4 years subs in one go, I understood I was signing a subscription but had faith the product would be worth having for 5 years and understandably thought a tracker would be impossible to lose! How wrong I was!

We are sorry you have not had the experience we would want for all our customers.
The battery life extends depending on what tracking frequency you place the device on. This does not stop you at any time tapping 'Find Pet' and locating your device straight away.
In regards to the subscription, at checkout you are reminded this is a subscription and to proceed you tick a box to agree. We then enter into a contract on your behalf for the data charges. We offer a 'buy out' option as was offered to you, to release everyone from the contract as easily as possible.
If you would like us to troubleshoot the tracker so we can find ways for you to enjoy the tracker for the remainder of your contract, please do let us know and we would be happy to assist.

Perfect…

Perfect had a slight issue with connecting the tracker to the app due to connectivity from Amazon.

Sent an email yesterday afternoon and received a call back this morning not to shabby on customer services and a UK call centre is always a bonus.
When you sit back and actually think about the cost of the tracking plan and the device it would be difficult to have a call centre 200 strong.

So just waiting on the tracker going live so I don’t have to follow the dog walker around anymore:).

If all goes well I will be buying more of these as they will be ideal for open roaming at the beach and rivers with my 11 Labradors.

Hopefully a waterproof option is under development or a waterproof protective cover other than a zip loc bag

Hopefully they can come up with a GoPro type case with a collar type clip as used in the “Vodafone Curve tracker pet edition”.

But at the moment we will see how this one holds up.

Water damage on my dogs tracker

I called Safer pets today because my pet dog Milo went for a swim with his tracker which was my fault as the tracker is splash proof. I spoke to Theo who was very good at listening to my issue and offered me 50% off a new tracker which I greatly excepted. He offered advice on how to reduce water damage and mention a new waterproof version is coming and took my details and would keep me updated. Most companies would ask you to pay full costs because it was my fault. Its was great customer service from safer pets.

Started out ok at first

Started out ok at first. The tracker came quickly and was very easy to set up. Our cat didn't mind wearing it at all. The tracker seemed to work well for the first few months, but after a while it seemed to disconnect and awful lot and the battery life is pretty pathetic. I had to charge it practically everyday. This was worrying as if my cat went missing for more than a day, I felt I could not rely on this device to find her. Kind of defeats the whole object of it.

The real problems started when I tried to cancel my subscription. Our cat was killed in am accident so we didn't need the tracker anymore. The staff I communicated with got our details wrong, asking for more money to cancel than we should have done. When this was finally sorted and I was to pay the correct amount to cancel, I got nothing but errors for the final payment to go through. The money has left my account but it's not showing as being paid?

This was all a lot of stress after losing our cat so suddenly :( Due to the way we have been treated during cancellation and the effectiveness of the tracker, I'm afraid I really cannot recommend this product or company.

Far from ideal

Far from ideal. Like the product, design ok, happy to get subscription and cat seemed alright wearing it.

But after using for a few weeks I am totally fed up with having to take it off and charge it almost daily. Therefore I've decided to cancel my subscription and gone with a bluetooth product which has a pretty decent range after testing and more importantly a 2 year battery life.

I now feel much more relaxed with my cat wandering and not fretting whether the battery will run out or not. If Safer Pet can sort out a decent battery, then you'd have a winner in my opinion, but not quite there yet.

We are sorry the tracker did not meet your needs Andy, this is not what we would expect. Our product uses GPS because it is more accurate than bluetooth, but does use more battery life, as it is locating the tracker on a regular basis.

Really good as a way to find a lost pet

As a way to find a lost pet, this is a great product. I'm not sure how well it can actually 'track' movement, but if you request a location update, it will tell your where your pet is reasonably quickly (i.e. if you want a detailed itinerary of your cat's daily movements, it may not work, but you can find out where they are when you need to). Very occasionally I get a short lived 'blip' and I see one of my cats is a few hundred metres out to sea, but this very quickly corrects to an accurate position. It could do with a few more instructions to set up - as I had to phone customer services to work out how to connect the trackers to my account (and found out it had already been done before they were sent out), but now it's set up it works really well. Given our cats love of walking around other people's sheds and garages, it's great to know if they get locked in, we can find them. I also get about 3 days of battery, with updates each hour, and occasional use of the 'find pet' button on the app to find out where they are at an exact time.

You can indeed track movements. If the tracker is set to track more than once an hour, it would show you more movements on the map but this would decrease your battery life sooner!

Perfect pet Tracker

I am happy with my purchase so far seems to work very well, even in a very tree populated area, it's brought us peace and less stressful nights not knowing if our cat would come home, the only thing if I was proper nit picking and I mean nit picking, is the battery could do with being slightly longer as 3 days soon goes lol but again that's if I'm really nit picking..

But it gets a full 100% like from us as a cat owner.. and we recommend all owners of cats/dogs should definitely invest in saferpet for sure, it's reasonably priced and works very very well.

We did everything without using the instructions (typical dad) but it was so easy to figure out and within 10 mins we were set up amd ready to go, another plus. We even managed to add family members to the app so everyone can see the tracker when needed.

A personal feature I found great when testing the signal ability was when you track it back in the app it even shows which way the cat was facing this was great in my opinion.

Great customer service and product

Great customer service, my sim wasn't working so they sent another out asap and I can see where my cat goes. When he is late in, i can go to him, it's great and so reassuring :-)

Try another brand if you don’t want any stress

Since getting safer pet trackers I’m MORE stressed about my pet’s safety than before. I thought I’d get peace of mind but actually it’s stress after stress.

Firstly, the trackers battery life seriously degrades after a year. Maybe that’s ok for a dog when you can charge at night. But for a cat who’s allowed to free roam, it’s not good enough. So I bought two. My pet, my problem, so I was happy to fix that issue. The battery on each is barely a day at the recommended 10 minute tracking. So I leave the app closed and just track when I need to find him.

The location is slow to update. Sometimes up to an hour. That’s not giving me peace of mind at all. As I’m trying to find him, the tool I bought to help me isn’t working.

The wifi piggy backing is rubbish. It frequently shows him many kilometres from his true position, which is incredibly stressful. Because you don’t know when it’s right or wrong. Safer pet blame this on Google.

And lastly, the customer support is lacking. The team are lovely when you actually get through to them but that’s like getting blood from a stone. You tell them you need to email because you’re working, and they call you. You email them with a problem, and it takes days to get a response. You call them with an issue and it’s “I’ll add you to my list to call back later”.

After some research it seems they can offer cheap devices and cheap plans because the quality is poor. Despite paying for 5 years on two trackers, I will be cancelling and putting both in the bin. I’d rather lose my money than my cat.

I’ve decided to go ahead with another brand who’ve assured a 7 day battery life, higher quality of tracking, a far better app, and fast support from their team.

Update: thanks for replying here folks, seems to be the only place to get a response?
The 10 minute update literally has (recommended) next to it. Maybe update that if it’s not recommended?
And as for the instant update. No, not the case. Sometimes it takes up to an hour. I’ve sent multiple screenshots over to your support team to show this. All ignored so far, but at least I’ve been offered a refund now.

The battery life will reduce quicker on the 10 minute tracking as the tracker will be working nearly continuously to keep pinging and getting location information. Many customers put it to every hour and and then click 'Find Pet' which will instantly show you were your pet is.

Great peace of mind if you have an elderly cat

I've got a 20 year old cat who still likes to wander about and visit his friends, and at his age I like to know at least roughly where he is.

With his tracker on I can see whether he's on his usual rounds or has gone further afield, and I can also tell how long he's been in a particular place. You can also replay where the tracker has been, and find out exactly how many times your cat has visited the bins behind the kebab shop. There's a chime in the tracker that you can ring via the app, so if you're actually looking for your pet that's very handy. The app is a bit clunky, but it's easy to use and you can have multiple phones on the same account at no extra cost.

If you need pinpoint location data then this might not satisfy you- you'll need something with more up to date technology, that will likely cost many times more than this product. I consider this tracker to be very good value for the coverage it gives.

The customer service is very good, you get an answer to what you asked rather than a stock paragraph replying vaguely. Safia was helping me and she has been excellent.

Excellent trackers and top notch customer service.

I bought 2 of these SaferPet trackers and am very happy with them. But, most importantly is that they do have excellent customer service. I've had a few issues, getting going with it, then I lost one and the help from their customer service staff is excellent which I find to be mega important. So the tracker does the job and I'd highly recommend them.

easy and accurate

After some brief issues getting the unit activated (an email to the Helpdesk got this fixed within an hour or so) the unit works very well and is showing good battery life. Great peace of mind having this attached to our wee wanderer! thanks

Best value for peace of mind, lovely customer service and works as advertised

Pros:
- Best value for money
- Tracking available across Europe
- Useful app and customer support
- Comes with a rubber case to attach the tracker to dog collar
- Options to extend battery life
- Uses micro usb charger rather than a patented design

Cons:
- Finding the device can be a bit slow (can take about 30 seconds)
- Does not work well indoors (aka without line of sight to satellite)
- Wifi connection can mess up signal tracking
- App design could be refined
- Not waterproof

Full review:
After some extensive searching around I found the Safer Pet tracker to be the best value for money. I switched from using a Bluetooth tracker since that was completely unsuitable due to range limitations and having to rely on others with the app to find my dog. I usually lose track of my dog in thick wooded areas so a GPS tracker was the best option. I purchased the device with a 5 year plan but all the plans were cheaper than similar ones on the market. The tracker also works all across Europe which is perfect for travel. Battery life estimates were also relatively similar across GPS enabled devices.

Once the device arrived I made sure to charge it a few hours and then attempt set up as advised. Due to a technical error I couldn't seem to fix on my own ('Device is not connected to the Internet'), I needed some help from customer support. I was quickly helped by friendly staff who remotely fixed the issue and I repeated set up making sure to turn off the 'local base station' setting as this does not work well in the UK.

After all that, the device worked very well although it does need a direct line of sight to a satellite (eg not deep indoors or under large structures) to pick up the signal properly otherwise it may take slightly longer or not identify the correct location. It also tends not to work as well on WiFi but this isn't much of an issue since I don't need to track my dog at home. Battery life is as advertised (~3 days), although it is lasting longer for me as I only track once per hour and make sure to turn it off when at home or otherwise unnecessary. Thankfully the device charges using a standard micro usb cable so no need to have yet another special charging cable. Having come with a rubber case I was able to attach it to my dogs collar easily without having to mess with the collar's size adjustment. Note that the QR code on the back of the device rubs off fairly easily when the case is on so mind that.

Overall I'm very happy with the device and would only make minor changes to improve the experience with the device and app. GPS trackers are much more sophisticated than Bluetooth ones so if you've switched over like I did, take a minute to get used to the technology specific quirks before you get too frustrated. If you do need help send customer service an email and I'm sure they'll sort it.
