Companies like this should be stopped from trading as they play on the desperation of the public who, by the nature of an emergency callout make themselves vulnerable to what is a company whose whole trading ethos would appear to be that of deceit and exploitation.

We needed to find a plumber for a blocked basin in our bathroom which was explained clearly over the phone to the woman at Swift Plumber - but despite this - I was told there would be an initial callout charge but that the engineer would need to look at the work and give us a quote on site.

She also advised the plumber would cover our local area and would be with us within the hour but on his arrival, which was over 2 hours after my call, we found he had travelled over 45 miles from East Sussex.

Despite being told the plumber would quote when on site, he immediately asked me to give our email address and advised the company would have to quote before he could start.

I received an email within minutes which to my astonishment gave a rate for the first hour of £249.00 plus VAT, with the the hourly rate of £219.00 plus VAT thereafter.

Needless to say I called Swift Plumber back immediately to question this and was met with a very aggressive tone with the woman advising if we didn’t want to have the work carried out, we could let the plumber go but we would have to pay the call out charge regardless. I complained bitterly about the extreme cost of what should be very simple job and was told the minimum charge per hour would be £219.00 per hour plus VAT, despite her refusal to quote an hourly rate at the time of booking.

The only reason I can see for this practice is to have both the customer and plumber put on the spot and ultimately either suffer the problem or pay the blackmail fee for the work.

We felt extremely sorry for the plumber who had said he was called away from his home on the basis of being told we had a large job to clear some drains which would be worth his while but left with nothing, as we were unwilling to submit to Swift Plumber’s blackmail tactics.

Do not use this company as we believe they are using vulnerable people to undertake the work and desperate customers who, if they cannot wait, are extorted from their money.

If I could give a 0 rating I could. The worst company I’ve ever dealt with. DO NOT USE. They charged almost £500 and didn’t fix anything and were threatening and aggressive.

Aggressive and unhelpful. Charged nearly five hundred pounds to look at a boiler and not fix it. Refused to start until an email contract was signed and refused to leave the flat until the bill was paid on the spot, intimidating our tenants. Do not use.

Absolutely con artist

Sent plumber who did nothing different to what we did which was rodding, make you sign a contract saying they will solve the problem.
Didn't solve problem still took money 600 quid and still got block drains.

Scam. Present themselves as We Fix (but trade as Swift Plumbers) so are in breach of trade descriptions (We Fix is an entirely separate company with much better reviews and not related to Swift) They also insist you sign up to onerous terms and conditions before any work commences. This immediately set alarm bells ringing. You can easily see how people would fall for this when there is a home emergency. Avoid at all costs.

ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They fool you into signing a contract that the job should be less than an hour then if the time goes one minute over they charge you £300ph plus vat then add on their ‘admin’ charges with one zone valve being changed on our water heating done in an hour bill was over £1000!!! Charged for 61mins so an extra £360!! For one minute! Refused to pay it & managed to negotiate it down to 1.5hrs still £750 for an hours work! Many counts of misrepresentation! Absolutely shameful scammers AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Horrible and I am disappointed with this service. They prioritize money over work. Avoid!!!!!

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this company. They advertise a 60-minute emergency response, but the technician only arrived after 3.5 hours, without any updates or communication. This is clearly false advertising and completely unacceptable for a service marketed as urgent.

The actual job was very small, involving a basic item worth around £20, yet I was charged over £500 — a price that is unjustifiable by any standard. The delay, lack of transparency, and excessive pricing make this feel like a scam rather than a legitimate service.

I strongly advise others to avoid this company. They are misleading customers, overcharging for minor work, and not delivering on their promises. I will be reporting this to Trading Standards and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

Absolute scam -avoid at all cost, no communication, plumber arrived and started work, only managed to stop him by phoning company and insisting of overall price, knew about call out fee but wouldn't give any other details of cost via phone, plumber had no idea of cost but proceeded to dismantle sink trap, eventually got an email with cost, asked plumber to stop all work - paid call out which had increased to £80 ended up with worse leak!!! - DON'T USE!!!!

SCAM - avoid at all costs! This company is a blatant scam do not use them. The service and pricing model they tell you on the phone is a lie don’t waste your time, they will not quote you a price for the job instead they charge the call-out fee and £300 an hour (including time to go back to their warehouse for supplies) for average workmanship. You then get shouted at by their staff for questioning what they originally told you I’m 20yrs of property management this easily the worst case of a fraudulent service I have come across. Please save your money ey and go else where.

These are scammers who take advantage of the urgency of the situation, fail to deliver any solution, and then hit you with a bill of at least £480.

One of the worst service I have received from this company. We had emergency boiler leaking. We agreed only for analysing the problem and agree the price for £60.00 . Ending up sending a invoice for 2 hrs £825.00
Finally engineer spoke to them and told it’s only analysing the problem.then they send a invoice £454.00
Please do not use this scamming company. The CSR member really don’t care simply disconnect the call.

Had a waste pipe disconnected at a joint on a Sunday. The plumber came an hour late and immediately was pretending that he didn’t know what was the issue and said he has to remove the cupboards in order to fix the issue. The call out was £90 (incl vat) and then quoted £250/hour for the job. Which basically meant it would have costed a fortune. Long behold I manage to get a local plumber for Monday, who takes 5 minutes to fix the issue, because it was easily accessible and fixable connection. Thankfully I lost only £90, but never again I will use emergency service… DO NOT USE - SCAM SCAM SCAM.

Scamming people ! By phone they say price is 75£ , and upping arrival they will sent you an invoice with additional cost for their services, which are 229£ per hour!!! Then on the end some additional service charge of 40£ , avoid this company !

Utter rip off.
Tried to charge my mum for two hours when only an hours work was undertaken & a ludicrous admin fee. Got both removed eventually.

0 is the correct rating ! Scammed my 95 year old mother!! Installed a shower NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
Have asked for £607.50 back
Shall report them ..cheeky answers when I complained.
The only shower that can take installation on a tank is Triton S80 I found it out myself!
Rude and they demand payment before they leave. All the points mentioned in the negative reviews were experienced by us.They are scammers!
The shower never worked!
