I was originally advised by Vauxhall that my engine could not be rebuilt and that replacing it would cost in excess of £9,000. TEG Repairs provided an alternative solution that saved me around £5,000.

They collected my vehicle from outside my home on Monday evening and had the work completed by Thursday afternoon. The entire process was handled professionally, efficiently and with excellent communication throughout.

I was also very impressed that TEG offered finance options, which made the unexpected cost of the repair much more manageable.

When your engine fails, it can be an extremely stressful and worrying experience, but TEG Repairs made the whole process straightforward and stress-free. Their service, professionalism and turnaround time were exceptional.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending TEG Repairs to my friends, family and anyone else who finds themselves dealing with an engine problem.

This review is based entirely on my experience as a paying customer. I have retained invoices, WhatsApps, emails, videos, MOT/service records, recovery evidence and an independent garage report.I genuinely regret taking my Mercedes to TEG Repairs. I paid £6,552 for what was sold and invoiced as a “refurbished exchange engine.” What followed was an absolute nightmare lasting months, ultimately ending with me selling the car at a loss of over £15,000 and having to buy another vehicle. PROBLEMS WITHIN DAYS

I paid TEG on 3 March. By 6 March, I was sending videos of smoke and a whistling noise from the engine bay. I returned the car on 10 March. Omer Omed told me it was the DPF and advised a long drive to clear it. I followed his advice, but the problems continued, including a loud engine and grinding/rubbing noises that had not existed before the engine work. Again, I complained. Again, I sent videos. Again, the car went back. On 1 April, at my request, I took Omer on a roughly two-minute drive to demonstrate the noises. TEG later referred to inspections “including test drives with you present.” My experience was one short drive requested by me, documented on WhatsApp. TEG then said they suspected the torque converter and quoted another £2,500. I disputed this as I had been reporting problems following the engine work. On 9 April, I was told they would do no further work regarding my complaints. NEW TECH REPAIR – TOTTENHAM -TEG sent my vehicle to New Tech Repair, White Hart Lane, Tottenham, where the work was physically carried out. When I questioned the condition of the car and work performed, I found the response defensive rather than getting the clear answers I wanted. After paying £6,552, I simply wanted to know what had been done to my car. Based on my experience, I would never trust New Tech Repair with another vehicle or use them again.WHAT DID I GET FOR £6,552? I paid for an independent garage report. The inspection raised concerns relating to the engine work and did not identify the torque converter as the cause of the issues I had reported. My invoice stated “refurbished exchange engine.” TEG's website describes engine replacement as removal of the old engine and installation of an OEM or reconditioned unit. I asked TEG in writing what had been supplied, replaced, refurbished, retained or reused. I never received the detailed breakdown requested and was referred back to the limited original invoice. MOTORWAY BREAKDOWN -I complied with TEG's warranty servicing requirements. An MOT later identified an oil leak, which the MOT garage told me they believed could relate to the engine work. An engine management light subsequently appeared. The car then broke down on the motorway. Fortunately I was beside the hard shoulder. Had it failed in another lane, the situation could have been considerably more dangerous.Recovery cost me another £180. FLYWHEEL FAILURE AND DAMAGED GEARBOX - The car returned to TEG. After removing the gearbox, TEG told me the flywheel had broken apart and damaged the gearbox bell housing, including breaking a hole through the casing. I was initially quoted approximately £2,900 + VAT. TEG maintained this was completely unrelated to their engine work. However, other mechanics told me that, in their opinion, this damage could result from poor or incorrect installation associated with the engine replacement.TEG strongly disputed this. I therefore had TEG saying it was unrelated while other mechanics raised the possibility of a connection, against a background of me reporting abnormal noises within days of the £6,552 engine work.LEGAL ADVICE AND MOTOR OMBUDSMAN - By this point I sought legal advice.I also tried to pursue the matter through The Motor Ombudsman, but when I checked, TEG Repairs was not registered with them, so that route was unavailable. I told TEG my solicitor would now deal with the dispute. After initially quoting £2,900 + VAT and continuing to deny liability, TEG subsequently said that after “reviewing the situation again internally” they would replace the flywheel and damaged bell housing free of charge as a “gesture of goodwill” and “without admission of liability.” They fitted used replacement parts with no warranty on those specific repairs. I am not claiming this was an admission of liability or that mentioning my solicitor caused their change of position. I am simply stating the sequence of events. OVER £15,000 LOST - After finally getting the Mercedes back, I had completely lost confidence in it.I tried to part-exchange it. Other dealers assessed/drove the vehicle and I was told it was in a seriously bad state. Dealers were unwilling to take it in part-exchange. Eventually I sold it to We Buy Any Car simply to end this nightmare. > £15,000 lost overall! AVOID!!!

Communication was really good throughout. Every time I rang someone knew exactly what was happening with my car and kept me informed. You don’t get that very often these days.
