I first head of UK pub co (formerly the London pub company) from my travel agent. They said they will take the hassle out of finding a job with live in accomodation and they did not disappoint! It’s well worth the $$$! I was placed
In a pub called the old bulls head in woodhouse eaves, Leicestershire. At first I was a little sceptical as to the isolation of this village but was quickly made welcome by the locals. Pubs are evidently known for taking on antipodean/South African workers and are always keen to get to know the “newbies”. Due to the nature of the small village I quickly built up a good relationship with the locals to the point where they would show you around the local area and help with runs into town for anything you needed.

Luckily the pub was also home to four sometimes five other kiwis/Aussie’s/saffas, and all being there for the same reasons we got along like a house on fire. Some of us even travelled together to Europe etc.

Originally it was my intention to move around to new pubs every six months or so but in the end I got to know the locals and my village so well I just couldn’t leave! Once my time there had eventually come to an end I got to know well over half of the village. I made some friends for life while I was there, and will always have somewhere to stay should I ever return.

It is my honest opinion that the more rural places are better. If your looking for somewhere with a bit more of a homely and local feel. Due to the amazing transport systems in the uk the bigger cities are never really that far away. Plus there’s the opportunity to save more $$ while your working to go towards all the adventures you plan while in the UK. Personally a few friends of mine thought London itself was the be all and end all location to live for the ultimate OE and couldn’t hack the expensive nature of London itself.

I 100% rev come today UK pub co for organising your live in accomodation work placement. It’s great peace of mind knowing you not only have a job but somewhere to live before you arrive!!!

UK pub co is an amazing program to help kick-start your UK adventure. The team was fantastic at finding me a job in the U.K asap, and making sure I was all set and ready to go before even getting on the plane to England. I could not recommend this program enough to anyone thinking about having a year or two abroad.

Through the UK pub company I had the privilege of being placed hassel free at the Double Locks Pub in Exeter.

My time here has been absolutely amazing, the pub is located along the canal with a huge beer garden and the scenery is just stunning on a nice sunny day. I travelled here with a friend and we were welcomed with open arms by my manager Phil and his wife Dee. Definitely made us Kiwi girls feel at home. The best thing about working here is how dog friendly it was from dog beds to dog treats, lollies, toys and dog bowls. It’s so fast paced here, we have weddings and functions every weekend with annual events throughout the year like the cider and sausage festival, the dog show, bonfire night, soul festival, outdoor cinema and a massive student music event. It was all unbelievable.

The majority of staff during the summer are students so it was real easy to fit in and make friends. We enjoyed many nights out together ! The regulars here are always a pleasure to talk to, the customers are all really polite and it’s just a joy working here.

Highly highly recommend the Double Locks pub for anyone who enjoys cider, real ale, stunning views, amazing food and awesome staff. I’d also highly recommend this programme, without it I would never have been able to have had this experience!!

I requested (and paid) UKPubs for assistance finding a second location after taking 3 months off to travel Europe. I asked for a larger site than my more remote first placement and they helped place me in a great location just outside of London with great access to the rest of England for travel. I would highly recommend using UKPubs to to find work and accommodations as they reduce your stress and workload considerably.
