Went to Travellers Rest, Caerphilly with a voucher for 50% off main meal which was in date to be told that they had cancelled the voucher a few days earlier and I couldn’t use it. Absolutely disgusted.

My review is about the drinks! What plank in their wisdom thinks it’s sensible and common sense to have a drinks policy and when we order non-alcoholic drinks, our daughter is asked for proof of ID!!! We asked for two passionfruit coolers which is passionfruit juice, lime, a hint of mango and lemonade - yes, that’s it. No alcohol in that at all but the stupidity of the drinks policy because it’s on the same page as the cocktail drinks the staff have to ask for proof of ID for over 18’s!!!!!
Your drinks menu policy needs an urgent review and a complete change. Move the non-alcoholic drinks section to a completely separate page and then we can order for our family. Absolutely stupid crazy policy!!!!!!! It didn’t even look like a cocktail when it arrived just a glass of orange juice with an orange segment in it.It certainly spoilt her birthday evening 🙁

I recently bought an online gift voucher for a friend. Beware what type of card you use. This transaction was classified as a cash transaction as opposed to the normal goods and services and as such I was charged an interest fee (by the Halifax)

Amazing early evening at the Cuckmere Inn with my young family. Food was really nice and well priced. The evening was made even better by our fantastic server Dylon - well done will be back!!

Had a fabulous steak meal at the Priory at Portbury highly recommend it. Steak cooked to perfection and well presented.
Staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Will be back.

We had Sunday lunch, it was gorgeous Debbie served us today as always service was outstanding (Debbie has worked there for years). We look forward to our Sunday lunch and the banter

Part of 8 visited the Stretton Fox in Warrington, Saturday 11th Jan. We were kept waiting 35 minutes before our drink order was taken , then a further 30 minutes for our food order to be taken. The pub wasn't at even half full. In total we were in the pub for 3 hrs due to the extended waiting time. After we had finished the main course it was around 20 mins before the plates were cleared, we asked for the desert menu but the waitress didn't come back to our table for 30 minutes, by then we just wanted to leave. They did apply a 20% automatically tip to the bill, which to be honest was a piss take. Won't be going again.

Visited The Jack Rabbit at Derriford,Plymouth as I had a 50% off main meals coupon. I hadn't been since their refurbishment and the prices have increased tremendously. It took nearly a quarter of an hour for the waitress to come to the table. My partner and I both ordered the Devon Crab cake for starters, which were actually tasteless - one would not have thought of crab if asked what the taste was! Definitely not worth the £8,50 charged.
I wanted a Rib-eye steak, but they had no steaks left at all - and it was only 1920. Instead the waitress suggested the 'homemade steak and venison pie' (£18,50), which we both decided to order. After another extended wait the main was served, but it wasn't worth the wait! The pastry was solid - as if the pie had been in the microwave. Even the bottom was solid, the gravy not able to penetrate. The content could not be determined as Venison or steak for that matter.
Not really worth the half price. It will certainly be a long time before we go again.

I went to The Fowlers Farm Cressing Braintree at the beginning of December 2024 with friends. The food and customer service there was excellent. They were very helpful with anything we asked. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back there.

Requested quiet table when booking online - completely ignored and put next to loud table of six.

Visited again for New Years Eve , booked for the 3 course set menu meal and drinks....Wow!
We arrived at around 7pm and it was already very busy with a great atmosphere. We were shown to our table which was nicely laid out, including a couple of expensive Christmas Crackers that I thought was a lovely touch and were told that we would get table service for drinks to save us having to go back and forward to the bar.
All the staff were extremely busy looking after the guests, but nothing seemed to much trouble. I'd really like to give a huge mention to our waitress Emma who was very busy looking after a number of tables but was very polite and always had a smile on her face, she really helped to make it a very pleasurable evening.
The food was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented, I had the 10oz Rib Eye steak done medium rare.
All in all a fantastic New Years, so glad we chose to go well done to all the staff and talented chef's.
The Swan Holme really have shown other places how this should be done

Had a bad experience in July and after 2 hours of never getting our food I gave them a second chance on 22nd December a table for 5. We booked on the app and the only slot was 7.30 we arrived at 7 and it was very empty which is annoying as we could have arrived earlier. Ordered drinks after 5 mins but it took another 15 before they arrived. Eventually after another long wait the food order was taken which arrived half hour later, I don’t mind waiting for good food but it wasn’t soggy spuds cold vegetables and no chutney on a burger as per menu. The plates were cleared and we waited and waited for someone to bring the dessert menu but it never happened so we got it ourselves and ordered at the bar. These desserts were never going to arrive any time soon so we cancelled them paid the bill and left. I won’t be going back again they have had there second chance.

Visited yhe Cow & Calf pub, Ilkley, twice in the past 2 weeks, for a festive meal. On both occasions the pub was cold, the fires weren’t lit. The food wasnt hot and was bland and expensive. The Xmas pudding was mixed with sticky toffee making it sickly sweet. There were no Xmas crackers on the tables, and thd Xmas decor was poor. Non of us will visit again at Xmas for a meal, if at all.

Went to the turnpike in woodstock the food was average at best and the service was so slow and shocking.

When we arrived the waiter told us that they had ran out of steaks and fish and chips so 1 of the party had to change what they wanted and ordered a share platter as there main meal but when the starters came so did there share platter. And when we spoke to the waiter his reply was we can take it back to the kitchen and keep it warm for you. We waited 40mins from starters to main meal.

But as the rest of the table got there mains the table next to us that came in after us got there food and in there order was fish and chips that we got told was sold out so not only the staff don't care about there customers they like to lie to them as well. We have been going to the turnpike for years but that was the last time I will be spending money there

Fabulous family lunch today at The Fox near Coulsdon. Party of three adults, one five year old and babe in arms. Warm friendly greeting from our server Eloise. Nothing was too much trouble. Delicious food with friendly professional service. Brilliant interaction with both adults and children. We will be back. Roger

At the Fox & Raven Chelmsford, we had a disappointing pre-Christmas get together, with a party of 8. First of all, there was no turkey available on the Festive Menu (??). Then, it took 50 minutes for our starters to arrive. It was a further 55 minutes (after the starters were cleared) for the main course to appear. 4 of our party found the food 'OK', 2 'unremarkable', & 2 'tepid'. By this time we had been there 4 hours, so dispensed with the dessert & called for the bill. The manager indicated that they had staff shortages, & when the bill arrived reduced it by 20%. Gesture accepted, but everyone in the party, agreed we would not be coming back again.

The Old Gate Inn Canterbury, we went for our annual Christmas Dinner, I'm self employed so its my work Christmas Party ;-) . We had a really lovely experience the atmosphere and decor was warm friendly and beautifully festive. The meal was excellent, good quality and good portions not something you often get with a Christmas meal. The staff and our server in particular were friendly and helpful, she made sure everything was just right for us. Will definitely be going back.

Went to the Sandpiper in Ormskirk.Food was fantastic. I had turkey roast dinner (the best I have had) my boyfriend had Belly Pork dinner which, he said "at last a chef who knows how to cook this perfectly ". We also had salted caramel profiteroles and apple and mince pie crumble, both delicious. Lovley atmosphere and great service. Will definitely be back. Our server was Olivia

Super lunch took great care as my friend has allergies. All delish are too much . Staff very nice & v v helpful will be back .
