**Extremely disappointing after 8 years**

After 8 years with Au Pair In America, we were shocked by how poorly we were treated. An au pair asked for a rematch after telling us we were “too American,” waited until after a major vacation to do so, and then refused to continue watching our children. Instead of helping us reconcile the situation or supporting us as a long-standing host family with a stellar track record, the agency simply removed us from the program and refused to allow us to find a rematch.

We expected professionalism and support, especially after years of commitment to their program. Unfortunately, Au Pair In America failed us when we needed them most. I would strongly caution any family considering this agency.

La mia esperienza con AuPair in America è stata molto positiva. Mi sono sentita seguita e supportata in ogni fase del percorso, con spiegazioni chiare e disponibilità costante.
In particolare ho lavorato con Mara, con cui mi sono trovata davvero bene: è sempre stata precisa, gentile e pronta ad aiutarmi nel strutturare il mio profilo e nella gestione di ogni dettaglio.
Sono davvero soddisfatta del supporto ricevuto!

I can’t say that everything has been perfect, but I can definitely say that APIA has never left me alone throughout the process. They always guide you, support you, and if you have questions, there is always someone there to help.

Per me è stata l'esperienza più importante che ho intrapreso e che mi ha cambiato, da adolescente incosciente sono diventata un adulta indipendente e coraggiosa. Questa agenzia mi ha accompagnata in tutti i procedimenti prima di arrivare e anche durante l'anno da Au Pair. Ti mette in contatto sin da subito con ragazze come te e che vivranno la tua stessa esperienza nelle tue vicinanze così da non sentirti mai sola e fare amicizie durature da tutto il mondo. L'ho raccomandato a molte ed è sempre una garanzia!

L'esperienza più bella della mia vita. La rifarei altre mille volte e la consiglio ancora oggi dopo 4 anni dal mio rientro in Italia a tutti! Formativa, intensa e piena di emozioni. Esperienza che mi ha fatta crescere di dieci anni in uno solo, ho conosciuto meglio me stessa, i miei limiti e mi ha aiutata a uscire dalla mia zona di comfort come non mai! L’agenzia mi è sempre stata vicina e parlando anche con ragazze/i incontrati durante l’esperienza, ho riscontrato essere la migliore in giro e con un prezzo invidiabile sul serio!! Raccomando l’esperienza a chiunque si senti pronto e consiglio di non mollare, sicuro tornerai con un bagaglio infinito di cose belle e brutte che siano ma che sicuramente ti aiuteranno!!!!

The administration and staff running this program seem more focused on charging extra fees than providing genuine support. If you try to leave, they make the process unnecessarily difficult—it almost feels like a scam. They consistently find ways to squeeze more money out of you. Highly disappointing and frustrating.

I’ve started my Aupair’s process with aupair in America about a year ago and had an amazing experience, they were with me every step of the way until I got to the host family house. I enjoyed the orientation in New York a lot and met amazing people during and at cluster meetings. APIA is a very good agency and is there for you all the way no matter what!

I went through the whole process with them, and I couldn't be happier with the experience – especially thanks to Gaia! She supported me every step of the way, always kind, patient, and ready to help with any doubts or give useful advice. I really felt guided and cared for throughout the entire journey. I highly recommend them to anyone considering an Au Pair experience in the USA!

Anytime i had enquires, Sereen was quick to reply and always answered all my questions with a lot of detail. Sereen had great communicate.

My profile was archived and I was told to contact someone for help,which I did. I had all the documents I was still putting together.Only to be told that I can not continue with the application unless I have a host family. I'm from Kenya. It does not make sense because the sole reason for this platform is to match the aupair to the host families.Meanwhile my friends from Kenya are in the site and uploading documents for matching. It's not fair.

Our experience with Au Pair in America has been deeply frustrating and disappointing. We relied on this agency to provide accurate, reliable guidance—especially when it came to something as significant as international travel with our au pair. We were told directly and clearly, on multiple occasions, that our au pair was cleared to travel with us on a cruise. We booked the trip in good faith, trusting the word of their representative.

Only after making travel plans and incurring substantial costs did we find out that this information was incorrect. The agency has since refused to take any accountability, citing technicalities and fine print, and completely dismissing the fact that their own staff gave us verbal confirmation that influenced our decisions.

This isn’t just about a mistake—it’s about the complete lack of responsibility and support when that mistake impacted our family’s time, money, and trust. What’s most concerning is the agency’s unwillingness to stand behind the advice their representatives give. If you’re a family considering this program, be warned: you must question everything, document every conversation, and know that even clear verbal confirmation from their staff means nothing if it goes wrong.

This has been a painful and expensive lesson. I would urge others to proceed with extreme caution.
