Gym and main pool good
Gym and main pool good, the gym has a great range of equipment. An early morning presence from an instructor around the gym would be helpful as there are only reception staff in early.
Some areas of the centre are filthy need a deep clean which lets the facilities down, especially door handles, mirrors and toilets.

The lockers looked trustworthy.
The limit on numbers meant that you weren't crowded. Very reasonable membership fee.

I'm fairly new to better but they have absolutely met my expectations from there kind staff and good gym equipment and there is a range of activities they do here like swimming and classes

Teacher wasnt the most friendliest.
Teacher wasnt the most friendliest.. never introduced himself or asked Quinn's name! . Just told him to get in pool. I understand he has a class to teach..but introducing himself would be nice. Quinn was scared and got very upset.. ill give it a couple of more weeks to see if he relaxes other wise I will be taking him somewhere where else. Quinn is only 4 and it was all very overwhelming .

We’re really sorry to hear that your child’s first experience did not feel welcoming, especially at such an important stage when building confidence in the water. We completely understand how overwhelming a new environment can be for a young child, and how important it is for them to feel comfortable and reassured from the very beginning.
We’re disappointed to hear that the teacher did not introduce themselves or take the time to engage with Quinn. A warm, friendly introduction and creating a supportive atmosphere are key parts of delivering a positive learning experience, particularly for younger swimmers. Your feedback will be shared with the relevant team so this can be addressed.
We do hope that, over the next few sessions, Quinn begins to feel more at ease and gains confidence in the class. If you continue to have concerns, we would encourage you to speak with the centre directly so they can provide additional support where possible and ensure your experience improves.

Friendly and helpful staff
The lady on reception at Yarborough was very helpful and friendly which made my return to swimming and exercise really easy after a lot of years away and a great many changes. I'm just swimming at the moment and loving it. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Happy to be back
Happy to be back
After spending a year away from the complex it was lovely to return to a friendly atmosphere. It started off with a very helpful front desk, Bangee, who ensured I had the right membership and made my absolute day when he said that the complex now had a Wattbike, brilliant.
Have been a couple of times now since rejoining and attended my first Group Ride last night, 21/04/26, with a great instructor. It was also nice that people in the complex say ‘hello’.
I only have one suggestion at this time which is to see if it would be possible for a further Wattbike on the complex so that I would be able to ride with friends.
Overall somebody has done a great job in taking this complex onwards and upwards, thankyou.

I am so grateful to have the pool open
I am so grateful to Lincoln City Council for keeping Yarborough Leisure Centre open. It may not be up to date or as snazzy as other (private) pools but it serves the community and is a lifesaver to me. Hoping ‘Better’ keeps up with the cleaning, it’s not easy when the decor is past its best but for me if the facilities are kept clean, I will never complain about the pool.

Changing rooms are very tired and…
Changing rooms are very tired and dirty. The cleanliness and smell has not improved with this new ownership.
The dirt is not new dirt, it's built up nasty slimy grime which needs serious attention.
I left this gym before as I was disappointed with it's cleanliness levels, and I was hopeful the new ownership would improve matters.
Hopefully this can be addressed or I will need to consider cancelling my membership again.
Thanks for taking the time to respond. It is a shame I cannot upload pictures of the built up grime and dirt nor can I share a smell. Hopefully it will improve over time.

We've received an update regarding the changing rooms, and they were jet-washed recently.
Please note that any dirt and build-up are checked regularly, throughout the day, by our concierge and management team to ensure we're maintaining our usual hygiene standards.
Regarding the poolside changing village, we appreciate that these facilities are aged, but we scrub this area with a surface cleaner after the closure of our centre.
We have also installed air fresheners since the change in ownership, to keep the place smelling refreshed.
Our General Manager is also more than happy to speak to you regarding any further concerns you have and would be glad to arrange a coffee meeting at your convenience.
We welcome any further feedback you may have.

Drains, etc
Toilets clogged - probably because there's no toilet tissue, just huge rolls of hand paper. Steam room drains so blocked that there was 2-3 inches of water swilling around our feet.

Better Yarborough Leisure Centre Lincoln
I’m very happy with the positive changes that Better have brought to Yarborough Leisure Centre Lincoln since it reopened in August 2025. Very clean and welcoming.
The reception staff are helpful and engaging. The classes are all good but limited which is understandable as better have had to build from zero and is now at over an as better have had to build from zero and is now at over 1000 members. I’m looking forward to a new timetable expected in January 2026 when hopefully there will be more day classes and variety. Instructors are mainly excellent. Keep up the good work and thank you.
