Capital One Travel will take your…
Capital One Travel will take your money.
I booked a hotel that was listed as "nonrefundable" on the Capital One Travel site, yet when I called the hotel to ask, they said they would happily allow me to reschedule my dates and transfer the credit. Capital One Travel said I needed to speak with the hotel about this, the hotel said I needed to speak with Hopper which is the third party through which Capital One Travel team booked it, and despite Capital One giving me a confirmation number that matches the numbers for Hopper, they didn't have a listing.
You may see a "better deal" via Capital One, but that is 100% because they are taking money from their customers - the merchants being completely unaware themselves as well.
I wanted to pay for an airline ticket…
I wanted to pay for an airline ticket with a virtual card because my physical card was lost. The ticket cost $90. I tried three times to pay with the virtual cards the app generates, but it didn't work. I closed the app, and 5 seconds after I logged back in, the ticket price had increased by $15. This is FRAUD; they're blatantly ripping off customers. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.
Terrible Customer Service
Terrible Customer Service. They rebooked my flight with a better layover time after the airline changed my flight to one with a ridiculously short layover. However, I originally booked Main Cabin, but the new flight issued by Capital One said Economy. I called to see if and why they had downgraded my class (same price paid), they could not even locate my flight or information, even though I gave the Capital One Location Number, the Airline Locator Number, and the Hopper Number. After failing to locate any information or providing any answers at all, so-called Customer Service hung up on me. Next time, I'll book directly with the airline. Capital One, with which I've been with for years, has the worst Travel Portal experience and the worst ever customer service. They are not doing Capital One or Capital One customers any favors and are actually doing them a disservice.
Buyer Beware
They sold us a ticket from KC to Phil with a one hour layover to make an international flight - there is no way especially with the on-time flight for this route at 37% that we would have made our connecting flight. I'm done with Capitol One once I cash in my cancelled flight credits.
Checked into hotel booked through…
Checked into hotel booked through capital one travel - hotel had beg bugs in two rooms we were issued and I have to wait for approval from hotel manager before capital one will give me my money back. Seriously??
Terrible Experience with Capital One Travel – Avoid Booking Through Them
booked a flight from Lisbon to New York for October 24th through the Capital One Travel Portal, but the airline (Azores/SATA) unilaterally changed the flight to October 22nd—a date I cannot travel due to being in another country.
When I contacted Capital One for a refund, they told me the airline refused it. But when I reached out to the airline, they told me Capital One had accepted the change on my behalf, making the refund impossible from their end.
Now I’m stuck in the middle with neither party taking responsibility, and Capital One refuses to provide any proof or documentation of their communication with the airline. They keep insisting the change was “automatic” but won’t back it up with any evidence.
Bottom line: I never approved the change, I can’t travel on the new date, and I’m being denied a refund for a flight I can’t take. Capital One Travel is completely unhelpful, opaque, and refuses to take accountability.
Lesson learned: Never book travel through Capital One. If something goes wrong, you’re on your own.
Easily Take Your Money
When I purchased my first flight via the Capital One app 8 years ago, I entered my information that included passport info. Since then, whenever I buy a flight, I don’t see my passport info, I only select the names of everyone going on a trip. This system allowed me to buy flights with an expired passport which is RIDICULOUS! If it gave an error at purchase months ago, I would have replaced my passport. Instead, it easily took my $2,500 without a problem and then I was told at the airport (3.5hrs before my flight) I couldn’t check-in due to an expired passport and was advised to fix it the next day and then call to reschedule my flight. I asked if I should stay at the airport and was told no. That I can just call to reschedule. I immediately set an appt to get a passport the next day and when i called Capital One to fix the flight, i was sent to Liberia Airlines who then sent me to British Airways. Then they told me Capital One needs to call them, not me. So here I am, calling Capital One Travel again only to be told, tough luck, if you would have stayed at the airport and called us 3hrs earlier, we’d be able to help you. I nearly lost it! Since I had spent another $3,000 in lodging and tours, I booked a 1-way again via Capital One. Now, I’m being forced to purchase another set of returning flights because since we were “no-shows” to the original flight, our return flights were cancelled. I am so pissed that Capital One can easily take my money and hold no responsibility!!!

HORRIBLE
HORRIBLE, Pathetic service. Policies, customer service, managers all are absolutely terrible. They should be banned for any business. And reported to BBB
Awful customer service and even more…
Awful customer service and even more deceptive ticketing. Purchased a first class fare for the same price as AA was offering. Ended up with an economy seat on 2 of the 4 flights. They refused to upgrade the 2 flights even though the price was the same as the direct airline price and the first class cabin was nearly empty. So pretty much they charged me $1056 for the AA first class ticket then pocketed the money they saved by sticking me in economy for 2 flights. Oh well, we have the Amex Platinum as well so we will just get rid of the venture x.
Horrible horrible customer service out…
Horrible horrible customer service out of a packed room in India… always loud background and unhelpful customer service. I called multiple times and was basically told to go screw myself. Not worth a few bucks saved, cost me way more in the long run.
First experience with Cap 1 and Fox Rental Cars
This was the first time I used Capital One travel. I rented a car. It immediately charged me $703 and the rental car company was Fox. When we picked up the car I tried to change the date of return they said they couldn't do that because I had pre-paid. The car that Fox gave us had several issues. I did turn it in a day early and Fox issued me a receipt for $603. Capital One says that I don't get the money back. BUYER BEWARE. I would never use those companies again or prepay.
Bait and Switch
Beware of bait and switch tactics. 0 stars if I could.
I booked a hotel in Japan. Showed up to the hotel on day of check in. The hotel did not have any record of my reservation. I showed them my booking confirmation. Upon further research, the hotel stated that I was actually booked at a different hotel down the street. This hotel was a downgrade, sort of like comparing a Marriott to a Courtyard by Marriott. The hotel also advised that the reservation was booked through Agoda (enough said). Why in the heck is Capital One using Agoda?!!! Agoda has one of the worst if not the worst review ratings of all travel booking websites.
I contacted Capital One Travel. Wasted over 2 1/2 hours of my vacation time, speaking to various representatives until finally I reached a supervisor who finally sorted things out, but unfortunately for me, Capital One Travel wouldn't book me in my original room (which was still available), but instead booked me in a downgraded room.
Also during this vacation, I booked another hotel in a different part of Japan. After the above fiasco, I contacted the hotel in advance of my arrival to confirm they had my reservation. Can you believe it? They also stated they had no record of my reservation. The hotel asked if I could provide the Booking ID number which was not listed anywhere on my Capital One booking confirmation. Had to call Capital One Travel once again. This time I got lucky and Capital One provided me with the Booking ID number. Why isn't this number provided to begin with? The hotel was able to locate this reservation, phew!
Going forward, I will only be using the Capital One Travel website to redeem my annual travel benefits which come with my credit card.
It they had zero stars I would give…
It they had zero stars I would give them this or even negative stars. I am a capital one travel card holder. I have used them on a few occasions, and it is getting worse. First travel was for my wife and son to fly to Portland from Las Vegas - booked on Alaskan airlines - by they booked it through Hawaiian airlines - the confirmation number I had did not work to check in, the offshore customer service who barely speaks English was no help. Finally, called Alaskan and they told me the issue and got the right numbers to check in. Next, was the fact the hotels are widely overpriced. Today tried to book a hotel to use the plethora of miles I have, I asked for a hotel in Coralville, IA. I found the one I was looking at on the computer in their system - but was incorrect as it was in a city 59 miles away from where I asked for the hotel - which I booked because why would they give me a city an hour away from where I asked. Again, offshore customer service center with typical poor English-speaking skills was no help. I will never do business with this travel center again.
Cancelled My Trip-Keeping My Money
I booked a trip, used my miles, paid the balance and all was confirmed. Thirty minutes later I received an email that my trip was canceled, as the airline did not confirm the tickets. My miles were returned immediately, but I'm still waiting on my refund to my credit card. This was THREE days ago. I called customer service, or lack thereof, and was told 7-10 business days for a refund! I am unable to book another trip without the refund to my card, so I wait as the price goes up for the trip. This is costing us a great deal of money! Customer service offered $100 travel voucher, which still hasn't shown up, by the way. I explained that this delay of my refund is going to cost us a great deal more than $100! Too bad!
In addition, this is an international trip, with several flights booked around this main one. I now have to cancel other flights and rebook them as well. It is definitely not worth having this card, when I can't use the miles that I have earned to travel. That was the entire point of getting this card. And why can't you put my refund back on my car?
Dissapointed
I booked a vacation through VBRO on Capital One Travel app. To my surprise it was then booked through another party Room Picks which would have all been fine of the room was clean but I was greatly disappointed and due to all the parties involved NO one is taking responsibility. Here is my review on Bayside Inn Key Largo
Very Disappointing Experience
The room was dirty with a strong mildew smell, a ripped and stained mattress, and rusted fixtures—clearly neglected and poorly maintained. While the staff was kind, they were unable to provide a clean room. I had booked through a third party, VRBO, which passed the reservation to Room Picks. I was promised a $808 refund for two nights by Room Picks after they spoke with the property owner, but I never received it. I left in good faith and am still disputing the charge. I strongly urge others to be cautious when booking through third-party services.
Capital One Travel Sucks!
Capital One, your travel company sucks! The website is horrid, the prices changes constantly even while booking. I pay for seat selection and won’t let me do it on your site and you send me to British Airways and they try and charge more $140 per a segment, and your agents are clueless and waste my time. Tell me why I switched from American Express Delta Reserve to the Venture X. It has been shitty so far.
Canceled paid for reservation two days…
Canceled paid for reservation two days before arrival and relisted the room on their portal for three time the price.
I wish I had read these reviews before…
I wish I had read these reviews before booking.
THEY CANNOT HELP YOU WITH ANY ISSUE THEY JUST CONTINUE TO SAY WELL SINCE NOT DIRECT. JUST GO DIRECT PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF.
Their employees are very nice while on the phone but they don't HELP or actually work to resolve the issue because they aren't able to so please don't take it out on them its a company issue or a lack of training.
I just need to add a connecting flight and they would not or could not help despite flights times being changed multiple times (highlighting the importance of a connecting), despite that meaning the luggage wouldn't forward etc and I understood/willing I would have to pay more but they don't care about making money, they are paid to just say no so stop paying them.
Don't book through Capital One Travel
I booked a car from ACE through Capital One Travel, and paid $290.27, but after the rental, ACE charged me additional $60.97, saying ACE only received $229.30 from Capital One. I wasted 10s of hours talking to Capital One Dispute Department, Capital One Customer service and Capital OneTravel, but they kept saying there is no option for them to refund me the difference.
What a joke! Any deal between Capital One and ACE has nothing with a customer like us. A thief steals money, then saying there is no option for it to return the money.
From this review site, I see this is a common practice of Capital One. If there is any lawyer here, we customers with the similar experience should launch a class action suit against Capital One to stop it from this illegal practice.
A quick update: reported this to CFPB ( Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ) on August 4, and got response on August 8 from Capital One "As one-time courtesy, we've decided to permanently credit your account for this portion of the transaction. ... Keep in mind, credits like this may not be available in the future."
So fellow consumers, we need to fight against companies like Capital one, and keep agencies like CFPB work for us there. Don't let them do away with agencies like CFPB.
The absolute worst travel portal ever
The absolute worst travel portal there is. We have had NOTHING but trouble with them. Booked hotels through them and the hotel would not have our booking so the hotels would charge us a second time. Then Capital one would not get a refund for the double payment. We’ve gotten bogus car rentals. Prices are ALWAYS higher through Capital One Travel and they NEVER price match like they say. Their excuse is always "we're not seeing the price that is coming up for you". All lies and I am done with Capital One Travel and my Venture X card. Should be called "Capital One Travel Hassle".
