After applying for a warehouse job role I was contacted by Castle view saying that their client (GXO) wanted employees to undertake a short course before start working for them. Me and other 29 people attended the course in Manchester for 1 full week and were promised a payment of £100 by the end of the week after completing the course as well as the certificate to Introduction to Facilities. It's been over 4 weeks and still no job offer with GXO, no payment for £100 and no certificate.

Interestingly enough all telephone numbers from the group of "recruiters" that were dealing with the "onboarding" are disconnected.

The last time I spoke to someone in Castleview they said their client had gone "silent on them" and so there was no job/position anymore. What they did was create an account with other recruitment agencies (Staffline and Recruitment Co) with our details and started applying to those vacancies that needed people asap.

We ended up being contacted by Staffline to work for a warehouse based in Manchester airport and were advised that the starting date would be between 15 to 21 days due to the checks we would need to undertake.

I've spent the last 8 days chasing after this people but it seems that all their telephone numbers have been disconnected (apart from the one advertised on their main website that no one picks up and just keeps ringing).

Since day one, they have contacted us mainly via SMS/text message and occasionally (rarely via phone). There is no emails from them with regards to the onboarding process, the progress of the application, GDPA compliance or anything that corroborates that we have in fact registered with them and attended their Guild "Introduction to Facilities Course" apart from the text messages they have sent us throughout the weeks.

To say the course was idiotic is an understatement: they mixed people that had previously applied for a warehouse role with people who had applied for a customer service position working from home (these were mainly from Path2Solutions). The course itself was a mixture between basic warehouse "training" (ie.: How to wash your hands, warehouse equipment in general and so on and so forth) with customer service skills.

We spent five days copying information from a word document and whenever asked the tutor about the employment details, incongruences would start to arise.

They seem to operate under an umbrella of "ghost" companies, Path2Solutions being another one so as to acquire funding from the European Union as an excuse for a "qualification" before commencing employment. That way they can justify the acquisition of that same "funding".

Interestingly enough, I had the week prior been in contact with Staffline that had confirmed that GXO had been recruiting but the interviews had stopped a couple of weeks ago since the positions had already been filled (even though they were still visible on Staffline's website).

That makes me wonder whether GXO was even a client of theirs to start with.

In terms of data protection, the amount of date these people collected from us (many times the same details repeatedly!) was absolutely concerning: from bank accounts to NINOs, to personal details such as addresses, benefit claims (for most of them) and so on and so forth on a regular basis without ever acknowledging they have received these details and how they have stored/collected them (which is usually what companies/agencies/organizations do to make them compliant with the law).

This company should, at the very least, be investigated (not in terms of how many "courses" they have provided but how many people they have actually employed after the course completion without referring us to an external agency.

An investigation in to why were these "courses" provided in the first place, whether it was necessary and whether the people who attended them were actually reimbursed as stated/agreed before the commencement of the course.

It won't take long to figure out that it wasn't necessary at all as the same job role/position for the same client/company (GXO) had been advertised by a completely different agency (Staffline) and they didn't require anyone to attend a course before start working.

My name is Naima Chowdhory I joined training for 5 days with Lynn Johnston. I enjoyed being taught by Lyn she was very considerate and very helpful and very supportive making sure that we complete tasks on time. Lynn is a great tutor.helping me to gain employment and teaching great interview skills . The company is lovely, nice tidy clean beautiful cosy environment nice big classrooms .

On a course to prepare us for telephone based customer service, Castleview put 18 of us on a Warehouse and Lean Management course. This joke of a course required us to copy chunks of pre prepared text and sign but not date each document. We were not allowed to keep any of the documents or copy our work.

This charade took 5 days and was held in one of the attic rooms of a cheap hotel. Water was available but no coffee or food provided. Their aim was clearly to con the funding body into believing a worthwhile training exercise had been taught.

Castleview are con artists fleecing money from gullible government bodies that could be used to retrain people for better paying jobs.

I have just finished a Level 1 Introduction to the Facilities Industry with Castleview group in Manchester and I must say I’m so impressed with the course! We had an amazing tutor- Lynne Johnson, who was great and we all learned so much from her during the past week. My knowledge about woking in customer service and health and safety is so much richer now, I feel like I am so ready to take on a new job and I couldn’t be more grateful.We were all treated equally, with respect and we all felt very comfortable with each other. The course venue- Oppidan Social, was a cozy and friendly place. Can’t forget to mention free of charge cakes and coffee that was available for us everyday throughout the day!
Overall, amazing experience and I am so glad I had the opportunity to attend. If anyone reading this is considering attending Castleview course- do it! It’s so worth it and I promise you won’t regret it.

It was a very informative course .I learned much in 5 days ,and the tutor Lynn Johnstone was probably the best I have ever worked with ,so thankyou Lynn

Very poor experience. The enrolment in an old building with no real ventilation in central London took the whole first day and continued the next day. All about documents of proof that you'd think they sort out before the course started. Had to change rooms because of the numbers and the projector for the PowerPoints had no screen and on a white surface it could barely be read. The tutor was hopeless. People arriving late again & again, talking during the sessions. He did nothing as if he didn't really care. But talked about himself a lot. Total waste of time

I had a very good experience and i gained new skills like communication and emplyability skills, i think the tuter paula deserves all these stars because she was amazing, very supportive, informative, helpfull, kind and friendly, and allowed me to nourish,thank you for great 5 days👍

I have gained many new skills such as being able to communicate effectively and gained many new employability skills. I have really had a great time because the tutors were very considerate and allowed me to flourish ☺️

I was on a 3 day course and my tutor was Marvin Reid, he really made everyone feel very welcome. Down to earth yet still so professional. Really supportive and always offering to help. He is very kind and friendly. Great communicator and clear.
