This is a scam
This is a scam. Do not sign up for CFNA because the promo is misleading, customer service is terrible, and policy is inconsistent. I applied in April 2024 and now it's mid-August 2024 already. I have not received my actual card yet, so it has caused a lot of inconveniences making payments, finding my account at Firestone, and applying the promotion. Customer representatives are unfortunately not that knowledgeable and professional when you convey your account issues. The recent call I had was with Customer Representative Ivan, under Manager Travian (TH2). They were not able to help me, and I have been encountering the same response of "We will reprint your card."
CFNA fraudulently charges interest
I made a promotional purchase on 11/25/23. Considering their 6 billing cycles I had until 5/23/24 to pay in full, with minimum payments along the way. In Feb. of 24 I made a large regular purchase which showed up for the 1st time with a due date of 3/23/24. I paid more than $100 more than the original purchase in order to avoid interest. Under the terms and conditions of CFNA, payments made during the last 2 billing cycles of a promotional purchase will be applied to the promotional purchase first. The 6th billing cycle ended 5/23/24 when the promotional purchase expired. The 5th ended 4/23/24. My large payment was made and credited on 3/23/24, the due date of the 4th billing cycle, so it should have paid off the regular purchase. Nonetheless, CFNA chose to credit it toward the promotional purchase and leave the regular purchase available for them to charge me interest. I have had several CSR and supervisors tell me that their system processed the payment and that they could not change how it was allocated nor could they issue any type of credit for the interest. They have admitted that it should have been applied to the regular purchase, but since the system did not do it that way, I owe them interest. I guess I you can rip off several million people for a few dollars each, it could add up to some real money.
CFNA are theives & scammers!
CFNA are theives & scammers!! NO ONE told me if i couldn’t pay the balance off in less than 6 months I would be charged for $300 for 6 months interest!! Do NOT use these clowns!! For real. They tell you if you pay your loan off in 6 months or less, no interest but they neglect to tell you if you don’t, you have to pay interest on that 6 months!! They’re a joke!! I’ll pay my loan off but minus that $300!! ! You can believe dat!!
A Credite Dispute Tale!
A Credit Dispute Tale!
It was a happy Friday, March 29th, 24. I realized an overpayment on my CFNA account. Paid $207 instead of $107. A good way to start a Friday with an extra $100 in my pocket.
I had just paid in full the CFNA account. The promotional period of 6 months had just expired on March 14th. I guess that's one of the reasons I overpaid. I wanted to make sure I wouldn't pay interest. After all, I haven't paid interest in the past 15 years. Proud of my 820 credit score.
I called CFNA. A friendly agent said she would be more than happy to help me. In just 3 minutes, she told me to wait 24-48 hours.
It was April 2nd, and to my surprise, when I checked my bank account, the full $207 I had paid on March 1st had been reimbursed, and for a bigger surprise, my total balance was now $296. I quickly realized CFNA's mistakes. They basically canceled my March 1st payment with the April 2nd reimbursement. Now my account was delinquent, with late fees and interest.
From $100 in my pocket to owing an extra $189. Easy fix, I thought.
I called and easily explained to the first agent. She was confused. She said, "You owe $296." I patiently explained again. "Well, a supervisor will check it. Call tomorrow."
Tomorrow came, and I called again. "Oh, you owe $296, are you paying it today?" I said, "Please, check the notes. Is there a supervisor's note there?" "No sir, please call back in a week."
A week came, and I called again. "Hi sir, you owe $296, the best we can do is a payment plan." "Well," I said, "you better do better than that." She paused, confused. I asked, "Any supervisor's note, please?" "No, I will transfer you to a supervisor then." "Great, I will get this resolved," I thought. "It's a no-brainer situation."
The supervisor said, "Sir, you asked for the payment to be reimbursed." I lost my temper. We had a heated argument. Then they realized their mistake.
Today, April 10th, I see late fees and interest reversed.
I was happy again, then I got an email.
CFNA has just reported your delinquent account to Experian. 30 points dropped from my credit score.
OH MY!!!
RIdiculous customer service
RIdiculous customer service. . . almost like they're trying to rip you off! We used the card for years, and other than some weird time-consuming measures every time we used it, we had no problems. But last month I got a bill with a late fee on it. I spent a lot of time researching and figuring out what happened, because I paid with my bill pay service, and in 20 years I've never had a late fee using them. I scheduled the payment in plenty of time, but they said it didn't get there in time. I talked to customer service, including to the reps manager, and they told me their policy is to not refund late fees. Then I called and talked to my bank to try to figure out what happened, and they changed from accepting electronic payments to only accepting checks last month. . . with no warning. So the billpay service tried to submit it electronically, but it was denied. They then sent a check, but of course it was late. The killer thing is the company HAD to know this had happened, but they didn't say anything and refused to refund the late fee!!
A new account that I was forced to have…
A new account that I was firced to have because my store card switched over to them. I spoke to customer service and set-up auto pay. The 1st payment was returned because the account number was entered missing the last number. Customer service would not remove the fee. AND the payment was paid immediately after it was returned, they didn't even wait.
I opened a Firestone credit card…
I opened a Firestone credit card through CNFA for with a balance of approximately $283. I immediately went to CNFA website and set up automatic payments to draft each month to pay the balance off in the zero-interest promotion period Firestone offered. Something happened where only the 1st payment drafted; I was never contacted by CNFA alerting me that there was an issue, no letters were received, no phone calls, no voice mails, no emails. Yesterday, I finally got a letter from CFNA in regard to this matter, I immediately called them and spoke to a supervisor, Saidou Diallo, explaining the situation and that I would be more than willing to pay whatever balance was owed, I respectfully requested that late fees be waived, and any negative credit reporting be removed (this is currently reporting as 90 days delinquent). Saidou Diallo advised me we would not remove the late credit reporting, which is my primary concern, I asked for his supervisor, and he refused to transfer me to that person, leaving me no choice but to file a complaint. All I am asking is that I be allowed to pay the principal amount owed and have the negative credit reporting removed from my credit report. I feel the delinquency going on so far as to appear on my credit report would have been avoided if CFNA had just reached out to me and let me know something was wrong. I feel this practice of allowing a card balance to be charged fees and for consumers credit to be damaged without warning is unfair and unethical. I have had a perfect credit history my entire life and protect my credit rating no matter what, the moment I found out about this issue I was on the phone with CFNA, if they had just alerted me months ago that there was an issue this whole situation could have been avoided.
Predatory & Illegal Practices
Don't be lured by discount offers -- this company is either incompetent or nafarious, or both. You will pay in erroneous late fees, plus your time and hassle refuting them, erasing any "savings" and probably costing you more.
I took the dollars-off and no-interest-for-6-months offer in June. I did not receive my first statement, and was charged a $29 late fee. I paid the monthly charge, and planned to contact them after establishing a couple months of regular payments in good faith. (I have excellent credit, and am never late.) When I did ask, they agreed to only remove $10 of it.
I paid that and next bill through my credit union's bill pay, no issues. It is important to note that CFNA does not offer electronic payment through financial institutions, which I employ for all my other payment accounts, so checks must be mailed by the bank, and tracked through USPS.
The next month, I received a late notice text from CFNA on a Saturday. Immediately called the number in the text, after verifiying a check had been issued by the bank well in advance of the due date, and told that the department handling this would not be in until Monday. (!)
Called again Monday, spent significant time on hold, and explaining the details. To reverse this fee, and prevent further fees while the check was in limbo, I was told I would need to secure a verification letter from my credit union, on the institution's letterhead, and given the email address to send it. I repeated the email address back, letter for letter, and the clerk confirmed.
So I spent a couple hours driving there, waiting, and received the document, which I carefully emailed to CFNA the same day, along with all pertinent information, such as the credit union's USPS tracking to the payment address on the letter, proving the check was received 2 days prior to my due date. In my email mesage, I explained that because the check had not yet been cashed, the credit union insisted on applying a stop-payment on the check since it was clearly lost over a week. I called CFNA again to give them all the details verbally as well, and the clerk said she would note that a stop-check fee should NOT be applied to my account, should the check be located and attempted deposit made.
I was also told the only other way to pay my outstanding balance, besides the risky giving out of debit card or financial account info over the phone, was to pay cash at a Firestone store, which I did, in full.
In logging into my account to verify, I was able to see that CFNA had applied a stop-check/return fee to my account anyway.
I just called, asking to have it removed, again detailing all I had done -- to rectify THEIR mistakes -- and was told they could not, since they had already applied "refunds" for my late payment fees -- again THEIR mistakes. I was on lengthy holds twice as the clerk supposedly spoke with her manager about this, and was refused twice in one call.
I have closed the account, and will be reporting this to the appropriate government entities, as this is clearly illegal and predatory.
You have been warned.
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL
Along with the others, my complaints (yes plural) is exactly the same.
This is by far the most HORRENDOUS company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Not one single representative I spoke with told me the same as the other. The MANAGER couldn't even add and I honestly believe she has never owned a credit card, no less made a payment. To make this long story short, I will list my misinformed experiences, because I simply don't know where to begin.
* Music horrible during wait time, which is long (first clue).
* Representative said I didn't have to re-enter my bank information (which I learned) was wrong.
* NEVER received an email reminding of an upcoming bill.
* Supposed to be a 6 month/interest free payment plan. It was not broken down on statement into revolving payments (which tells me, the FULL BALANCE is due).
* Misinformed that I could change the payment date to a later date after I make the first payment. I later find out it will take TWO billing cycles to make that change. (???)
* Manager, Angela, hung up on me when I asked her if she was actually paying attention to what I was saying, because she kept telling me my revolving balance was the minimum balance of $29.00 on a $816.00 balance. How does that break down to 6 payments????
* I will have to borrow that balance and pay it off because everyone I spoke to, destroyed their credibility. I won't take a chance this company will ruin my credit rating I work so hard to keep and end up paying interest on something I was told I wouldn't.
Unless it is in black and white on my statement, I will pay off the whole account since it say my payment due is $-0.00.
JUST AWFUL.
This credit card company is the worst i…
This credit card company is the worst i ever had. They charged me late fee while i paid the total balance. They added late fee to my account after i paid the total balance. They did not inform me that i had to pay late fee because i thought i paid the total balance. But this company, they do not contact you to let you know that there is a balance open, no email, no phone. They report me twice to all credit bureaus with past due payment even though i paid the total balance.
Terrible customer service
They don't offer online chat. They do not offer a customer service email. They give a mailing address on their website. So I mailed a letter with tracking. It has been over a week waiting for pickup and they haven't picked it up. So soon it will be sent back to me. I want to communicate with them in writing as this is regarding credit reporting. A company that doesn't pickup the mail, doesn't have email, doesn't have chat shouldn't be in business. Horrible customer service.
No Transparency, Unfair Trade Practices, Nefarious company
Opened Firestone credit card in store Oct 7, 2022 & even made my 1st pymt of $164. I rec'd the credit card shortly afterwards via snail mail but NEVER rec'd a paper statement in Oct, nor Nov nor Dec. I got a notification from EXPERIAN that they reported my card as over 60 days overdue. So then I registered the card in Dec & they're website forces you to get paperless statement, can't opt out. Then in Jan I come to find out that not only did they report me to credit bureau's but they also charged me 2 late fee's of $27 & $40!! And when I explained all this to supervisor "Shell" member id#MI1, she said there was no error; refused to explain why I rec'd no statement & refused to explain that no statement even shows online after I registered.. IN fact the online acct doesn't show all the payments, show's absolutely no statements at all. What kind of nefarious, unfair trade practices is this company participating in!? And Shell refused to email me that she is crediting my acct & refused to send me my statements! To this day, I cannot even view my statements on my acct online. NO TRANSPARENCY. Am reporting these crimes to the attorney general's office.
