Delay in returning funds
Update on my complaint
Whether it was my Trust Pilot complaint, or not, my maturity funds were in my account on the day of maturity. I also received a call from a concerned Close Brothers representative who explained that they prefer to under-promise and over-deliver. It still poses the question, why can't they promise to return the funds on the same day, just like my building society?
I telephoned Close Brothers Savings today to give maturity instructions for my fixed rate bond. I was told that the money could arrive in my bank up to TWO days AFTER the maturity date because Close Brothers Savings is not a bank and the funds would have to go through a clearing bank.
If this is so, why is it that my building society, which is also not a bank, can, and does, make same day transfers, provided the request is made before 3.00 pm on a weekday?

Close Bros is a very trustworthy company
Close Bros is a very good company and I have nothing but praise with how they have dealt with my money. Unfortunately I now need the money to pay for my sons operation because it keeps getting delayed due to the junior doctors strikes

Usually I have no need to contact anyone during the term of my investment. On this occasion, due to my own fault, I had to message the support team at Close Brothers. My query was answered and everything was sorted out very quickly to my satisfaction.

Two problems with close brothers…
Two problems with Close Brothers Savings (closesavings.co.uk)
First you have to be careful. It is so easy to try to access your savings account from one of Close Brothers many different sites on the internet without realizing you are at the wrong one. My husband tried to get savings website for an hour yesterday - wondering why his details were not being accepted - without realising he was trying to get into their identical-looking motor finance website.
Second - more important
When he did get into his account he found no mention of the interest we had accrued even though the money was in an interest earning easy saver account. The only amount showing was his initial deposit from last year and no mention anywhere of interest being paid. Nothing. Just the original investment. Very poor. And if he wanted to withdraw the money right now he would only be able to withdraw the initial deposited amount. Very very Poor.
